    At about 4:30 I too was wondering this exact question: why slip occurs through dislocation motion and not the whole plane moving at once. Your explanation answered it perfectly!

    Thanks for the Video..adding to the content, there are few FCC metals or alloys that produces twins during deformation or annealing. That is depends of Stacking fault energy (SFE) of the respective metals of alloys. Please make a video about SFE to better understand crystal plasticity for the viewers.

    I think in case of twin that two black lines will represent as twin boundaries not grain boundaries.

      Overall very informative video to understand the slip and twins concept.
      However, in the case of FCC, twin can be develope due to severe plastic deformation.
      Formation of twins depends on the stacking fault energy of the materials.
