This was my wedding song in 1980. Can't believe I've been married 42 years. It still makes me cry. My husband is very sick so precious & few have a whole new meaning right now . 💋✌🌻🌻
Isn't it funny how a song can take you back to another time. I remember hearing this song when I was 12yrs old riding in the back of our station wagon returning from the Indio fair with my family. I loved it right away. My parents are gone now but it was nice remembering a time when they were young. Life goes way to fast. Appreciate everything! ❤️
We were married in 1972 when we were 17 and 19 and he went in basic training and this was our song. He recently passed away after 50 years of marriage. How true the words to Precious and Few really are.
@@sheayankee no..Elliot Lurie (born August 19, 1948) is an American musician who was the lead guitarist, songwriter, and co-lead vocalist for the band Looking Glass from 1969 to 1974. He wrote and sang lead on their 1972 #1 hit single "Brandy
The singer, Sonny Geraci, is gone now too, so our time with him was Precious and Few. He was also the lead singer of The Outsiders and sang Time Won't Let Me and Respectable. I sure wish that I could have met him.
My wife was one of the nurses who took care of Sonny Geraci while he was dying. She’d never heard of him. I played her this song and she said she couldn’t even look at him without crying. Sad
Friends ALWAYS ask me , how is it that I know all the words to old songs..I smile..I grew up in a house with music playing all the time. The lyrics have stayed in my mind and my heart ..thank you for all your reviews...this subscriber loves you!🥰
This song was released at the end of 1971,but when 1972 rolled around it hit the charts big time. It was written by guitarist Walter Nims, and sung by Sonny Geraci. Around the same time David Cassidy of the Partridge Family released his first solo album called "Cherish" and the title track was released as a single (written by Terry Kirkman). Both songs are so similar in composition and arrangements that there was a bit of debate who's song was better. The reality was they were equally as good. Now BJ mentioned he may have heard this band before, but I think he was talking about the all female group Klymaxx, who formed in the late 70s,and had several pop hits in the 80s,but their biggest hit was 1985s "I Miss You" which ironically sounds sort of similar to "Precious And Few" ...that's music for you
Was just thinking exactly the same thing .. His smooth, smokey voice sounded very much like David Cassidy's, and the song reminded me a bit of "Cherish" .. I love both of these songs !
This song brings me back to my childhood. Riding on the bus to school. I think this was their one hit. But it’s a classic that I still hear on the radio every now and then after all these years.
Matthew: your Dad impacted so many. I’ve known this song and his voice all of my life - always one of my favorites. And only today learned about him, beyond the name of the band. You must be proud. I am a musician and songwriter and your Dad inspired me as a little kid to pursue music. Blessings on you and your family +
I was 14 years old when I had my first girlfriend in '74 and this was her favorite song. As the saying goes " you never forget your first girl" so this song always occupied a special place in my heart. Thanks Ann Louise.
Love these 70's one hit wonders... so much great music from that era. Would love to see a reaction to Brenda Russell - So Good So Right... I think Asia would sing a great cover of that tune, her voice is perfect for it!
Good idea. Reacting to Brenda Russell. So Good So Right is terrific but Piano In The Dark is every bit as rich. Not that Im old but I remember Brenda way back with the awesome vocal ensemble, Doctor Music, headed out of Toronto by the late Doctor himself Doug Riley, Canadian musical legend who left us much too soon.
@@2zxodcfm Are you related to Steve & Michael Kennedy of Dr Music by any chance? It's the only vinyl album I still own, truly one of the best Canadian albums ever. "One More Mountain To Climb" would be a fantastic song for a reaction channel.
@@Jamesscearce Hi James, no I'm not related to either though from the same vicinity and age bracket. I remember both well. Steve in particular. I recall 18 yr old David Clayton Thomas as a local rising star long before BS&T. Also John Kay and the Sparrow before Steppenwolf hit. In fact, I attended a musical memorial get together at U of T for Doug Riley shortly after his death. He was a respected giant so they were all there. Yep that was "Our Song" back in the early 70's when i was overseas. Sadly I guess the moments wasn't enough because we both married someone else. Still think of her when i hear the song though.
Climax was an American band formed in 1970 & "Precious & Few" was their biggest hit. They had a few other songs such as "Life & Breath", "Rock & Roll Heaven" etc.
This song to me means that there is distance from one another perhaps due to obligations of one's profession and they only have a limited amount of time to spend with each other and the time spent is then very meaningful knowing deep down there just couldn't be no one other that could take the place of the love they have for one another
I was in the USAF and trying to get home for the holidays in 1981. During a layover at O’Hare this song was played on the PA. Over 40 years ago and that memory instantly comes back.

I've been hearing this song since it came out in 1972 but I just noticed that you could say that depending on how you break it down, it could be considered just a repeating chorus with no verses. Very odd but it works.
