- Happy Wednesday! Something exciting happened. I got a proof copy of my book printed! I did it through Amazon KDP which turned out to be the cheapest and fasted option.

If I ever stopped being an underwriter.....you would truly be the inspiration!!! It looked SO intimidating!!! I wish I could be an over writer.....YOU ROCK!!! Happy editing....that part of the process always intimidates me !!!

Ahhh so cool! Even if it wasn't intentional, the double spacing will definitely make for easier edits. I wish I could do this but it's way too costly to ship here!

I love the cover! What did you use to format? I used Atticus and i loved it, but it wasn’t perfect
Thank you! I designed the image on Canva then within KDP Amazon where I printed the proof, I used their Cover Design when you’re in the process of setting up your proof, to make sure it fit well. ☺️
Don't forget to read it aloud. It will help you see if the sentences are too long to comfortably read for an audio book.

Hi Desiree - late to this party! It's so exciting seeing your book as an actual "book"-shaped thing for the first time! I think getting it printed was well worth it if it helps you with the editing process; certainly seeing it in a different medium can be really helpful in spotting the errors.
I've been sent a beta read from a fellow author who went to the trouble of having physical book copies made, and it made the beta-read a lot easier than staring at a screen or Kindle. I wouldn't expect all authors to go to that expense of printing and posting but it was appreciated.
Good point about the spiral-bound manuscript which could be an alternative to what Amazon did for you. Good to know that Lulu does this. In the UK I'm aware that Rymans (a high street stationery/office supply shop chain) offer document printing for a reasonable price, maybe there's physical option in the US too?
