I hope you guys enjoyed this video! If you are wondering HOW TO GET IN to an MBBS program, I have a video on that linked in the description box! Enjoy guys! 💗💗
I'm in my 1st Year of MBBS here in India. And honestly, there are so less MBBS channels on MedTube. Thank you so much for being so open about your journey!
I really wish this content was around 5 years ago. I remember being so lost and looking at predecessors, who couldn't answer all my questions, for guidance. Sometimes we're really at a disadvantage but keep this content coming so you can give them the help we didn't have🙏🏽
Lakier Williams big facts sis 💗💗 I didn’t even know what questions to ask! Like ya didn’t even know what you didn’t know! 🤣 thanks so much for watching girl 💗🙌🏾 I will!
MBBS degree holders are missing four years college education. You can enter in MBBS degree after 12 grade or High school in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh etc. whereas to obtain MD degree you need to complete four years degree before applying for four years MD degree program. MBBS degree holders never take MCAT exam. In India or Pakistan you can get admission in MBBS program even though you are a week student as long as you have money. Majority of private medical schools give you admission even if you are a C grades student.
It doesn't work quite like that here, in the Caribbean. Personally, I have a 4-year Bachelors of science degree in animal biology- which contained my premed prerequisite courses and a lot of other "fluff" courses lol. I also sat the MCAT (because I was in the US for undergrad and wanted to pursue MD) before attending medical school in the Caribbean (to obtain my MBBS degree). However, I did have classmates that didn't do a 4-year degree prior to entering our MBBS program. They all had to do a preliminary course that allowed them to cover all the prerequisites necessary to enter into medical school. They were not deficient in any area prior to entering and they're competent doctors today. Most are better than me! LOL So, I wouldn't say that they are "missing 4 years." It is unfortunate that India/Pakistan rewards cash over merit when it comes to training physicians. It shouldn't be that way. But, I hope this helps.
thank you sis for the information im just going to go for my MD lol thats to much of my life ill be wasting im just going straight for M.D since i reside in the U.S. my silly self was thinking i had to get a mbbs first but that not the case after watching this beautiful well put together video. thanks so much an many blessing to you and your family.
I was contemplating between Uwi Mona and St Georges and I would've really liked to go to St. Georges Grenda but My Government no longer funds tuition to Grenda....only Uwi so that was my deciding factor.
Aeriel Ferguson wow! I got accepted there too and it was so much more expensive than uwi so I went with uwi as well so I understand! Hopefully uwi will be great for you! Don’t worry! You’ll do well! 🙌🏾❤️❤️
Yesss so love this video💯 very helpful and informative to help me decide between MD and MBBS 😊because I was actually struggling to decide what to do lol😂
Have you ever thought about doing your final two years at UWI at the UWI SCMR Bahamas location at PMH? Also do you think that can be an option for me? I'm really considering coming to UWI in Jamaica for three years and completing my 4th and 5th year back her in the Bahamas. I'm a Bahamian national as well. I would really love your opinion on this. Thanks.
Harrissa Brown which exam? CSEC? My advice is to always still apply ❤️. I have a video, “how to get accepted into UWI Med” (it’s linked in the description box) that goes into detail of the admissions requirements but still apply! You never know! ❤️❤️
In Uzbekistan some medical schools offer MD 6 years some offers MBBS for 5 years... What should we pick? Are these both are same? Loved your video From Pakistan 🇵🇰❤️😍
Hello there!! Wow! Pakistan! 🤩 thank you so much for stopping by! 6 years! Wow! My program is 5 years and that feels long to me 😅. I cannot imagine an additional year! 😅🤣 But if the school is a great school and you’re getting a higher quality education and adequate clinical exposure with the extra year then go for it! Just do your research and align the timeline against your personal plans (when you want to graduate by, etc) and see how it stacks up! I hope this helps! 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Can i study medicine I just recently graduated radiology college 5 years im from overseas can i apply to m.d since shorter without taking the board exams in 🇺🇸 because it’s me wasting a 8 month preparation for that to restudy all material again
Thank you for this video! You mentioned that you completed a bachelor's degree before starting medical school, but mbbs can be done without a premed, right? Also, are international graduate doctors considered IMG in the US, or can they go by MBBS?
if it's a bachelor then I need to go for graduate school after? My relatives are still confused by the concept of MBBS. They still want me to get MD degree from States
Hi ! I'm studying in Tajikistan but I'm from Pakistan. Our university offers two programs : 6 years MD & 5 years MBBS. Although 5 years MBBS is not its local degree. So if i do 5 years MBBS... Then, will it be accepted by UK, US or other European countries Medical councils ?
No, it doesn’t differ on whether you decide on MBBS vs MD. Yes, you can! After you complete MBBS or MD, you’ll then go on to specialize in the area of medicine of your choice! 🙌🏾
@@BahaMed thank you so much , I'm new to your channel and your videos have been so helpful. I'll be starting my 4 years MD program in 3 Weeks super excited . I'm from Guyana by the way 🤗

Up until now, I thought the only degrees that afford you the ability to attend US residency is D.O. and M.D.?? BTW, we D.O.'s make up around 10% of practicing physicians post residency.
Hi there! Quick questions: -Would you say that 3 prerequisites per semester are too much too handle? - Would you recommend taking the prerequisites while you are taking your degree or taking them after you graduate and having 1-2 year gap? Thanks!
Rudy B hi there! Thanks for watching! - It depends on which courses you’re taking and how full your workload is otherwise. You would have to feel it out and see how it goes! - my degree was a science degree so the actual requirements of my degree overlapped with my premed courses/Med prerequisites. So I was fulfilling my prerequisites while fulfilling my degree requirements so that worked out for me where I didn’t have to take them separately. That is what I’d actually recommend unless you really want to major in something unrelated to the natural sciences. If so, I would suggest spreading the premed courses throughout the degree. That way, you can still finish on time but not be overwhelmed with taking all the classes at once. There are so many, that I believe taking them after you graduate will take a few years. I hope that helps!
Baha Med Thank you so much for taking the time to answer me back!😊 I have 11 classes left for my prerequisites..... I also heard that committees frown upon “light” semesters..... any feedback on that? Thanks again and keep the good work with your channel!
Rudy B you’re most welcome! That’s what I’m here for! 🤗 I heard that before too. However, they would much rather you have good grades right! I think having a light semester with great grades goes a longer way than a heavy semester with grades that aren’t so great. What you are demonstrating in your prerequisites is that you have an understanding of the necessary material, not only that you can handle a heavy workload. And good grades will demonstrate that you have a good grip on the sciences and thus you’ll transition smoothly into med school material. And I also think that the fact that you’re doing a non-science major while still tackling premed courses is impressive! Don’t worry! They’ll be wowed by that! I’m sure you’re brilliant so your grades will reflect that! So take as many as you can while still maintaining good grades!
hi, i have something to clarify ☺️ since mbbs and md are not the same therefore, If you want to become MD you can take it after graduating in MBBS to become MD. Is there have a chance on other country where it is the same process to become MD (like in NZ, AUS, UK AND CANADA)or it depends on the country? PLEASE NOTICE ME 🥺🥺🥺
MBBS is actually shorter because -MBBS is just the bachelors level -while MD programs require you obtain a bachelors first in some discipline all while having your premedical course work done and then complete 4 years of medical school -
OShawna23 ❤️ yup. The journey is shorter for a lot of people (those who go into the program after high school). But if you’re like me 😣😂, I did 4 years of my biology/pre Med degree first then still went for my Mbbs after. So it’s long for me either way 😂 And, we’re just talking about the length of time of the programs themselves, not the journey. So an MBBS program itself is usually 4.5- 5 years compared to MD program itself which is usually 4. Hope that wasn’t confusing ❤️❤️
My understanding is that it depends on your route of entry. My MBBS is 4 years because I am on a graduate entry course (I did a bachelors prior). That being said both MD (or DO) and MBBS (or MBChB in some commonwealth medical schools) are all professional doctorates therefore all technically undergraduate degrees.
I hope you guys enjoyed this video! If you are wondering HOW TO GET IN to an MBBS program, I have a video on that linked in the description box! Enjoy guys! 💗💗
