Awesome rigging job right there. I use small meat rigging rubber bands for this though. They are maybe a 1/2 inch in diameter resting and can stretch 3 or so inches wide. They break easier when hooked up and add to a little more disguised presentation. I also use a single Japanese double hook facing down towards the tail to help the presentation out a bit. Those Japanese doubles hold like a MFer so the hook up ration to stick ratio is pretty darn good.

Thanks for commenting Nicholas. We like those double hooks also and your rubber bands sound great. Good fishing!

Excuse me, I'm from Peru, where do they sell that fish lure? I'm Juan Pedro, and how much does it cost? I want a pair, thank you, please answer me, or how do I communicate with you, using my daughter's yutu?

What size leader are you using?

You guys ever have any issues with the bluefin chewing through the mono? I usually see these rigged with 200 or 300 lb flourocarbon leaders for the abrasion resistance. Also I usually see the treble usually snug with bait. I would imagine leaving it to trail a bit like you have shown will lead to more hookups, especially when those airborne cows come crashing on the bait!

We have found when you rig these on a kite, the options for leaders are essentially limitless because the bait is in the air. You are right, heavy is preferred and the tuna don't seem to mind, so in that regard a good heavy mono or fluorocarbon should perform excellently.
As far as trebles, we like to rig them in this fashion to allow the bait to slide up the leader to reduce damage to the bait.
Thanks for commenting and good fishing!

What size hook do you use for the Treble Stinger hook?

Hi Mike, thanks for inquiring it's a Mustad TG90BN 7/0 or similar size hook. it's purpose is to hold long enough until the J hook also hooks the fish.
