It's VERY refreshing to see a guitar build that isn't based on a strat or a tele or a prs.
Originality is difficult when you’re programmed to only see similar shapes. Thanks for checking it out🤘
Beautiful work…. And …. PUMPKINS!!!
Thank you🤘
I love that recycled wood! I have made a couple of basses using wood from old dressers found at the resale shop. Much like your flooring, the panels are made of smaller pieces. We don't see all of the glue joints with the layers of stain and varnish they used to use, but a guitar body can celebrate that history.
Your imagination was running wild with this, and it turned out pretty cool
Thank you🤘
Superb and very original design. Well done man, she’s a beauty.
Thank you very much🤘
Yay! Great work and attitude, go community!
Thank you🤘
It almost has the feel of a standup bass with the strings so high off the body cool build❤
If you had a bow, you could definitely play it like a cello🤘
Cool stuff, Tye. Great build!
Thanks man! I really appreciate it🤘
Please keep making these!
This is a one and done. Sorry🤘
@@shockthefox shoot, I mean the videos! You make incredible guitars and it is amazing to watch the process.
Dude! What a great story and video. When I first saw this idea I was excited to see and play the final result because I know how you work Tye. Without boundary and restriction. Such a cool guitar and it was wild and unorthodox to play but I loved it. Thanks and good luck man. IT DIDNT FOLD IN ON ITSELF!
You are the absolute best! Thanks for everything man.
Totally epic mate, great video, totally original beast of a guitar
Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it 🤘
The relief at the end! I really like the abstract designs from both you and Mark this year.
Thanks man! I appreciate you🤘
Heck of a job Tye!!! I was nervous as well at the end! Glad it all held up!!! 👊🏼
I was genuinely nervous… and then genuinely relieved 😆
It's definitely a unique guitar I have to give you that , I hope it sounds as unique as it looks .
Thank you🤘
As always, really fine work, Tye! Super inspiring build!!
Thank you! I learned a lot on this one🤘
Wonder if you put in bridge pick up it'll sound WILD 🎸👍🎶🎵😎😊 try put one in just for the record
Wow! There are so many elements of this that I've never seen before. The acrylic pickups are cool. It's all cool.
Thank you for checking it out. 🤘
That's unique and cool.
Thank you🤘
Only caught the last maybe 15 mins of the premiere.
Awesome guitar, I think you’ll go back to back
Thank you brother! I appreciate you🤘
If the painter Pablo Picasso would be a luthier, he would build guitars like those..
Greetings from Spain..
😄😄🇪🇸🇪🇸🎸🎸
Thank you🤘
@@shockthefox 👍👍🇪🇸🇪🇸
It’s awesome to see the whole process. Such a cool design. And just brave to see it through. The mid execution adjustments were really cool.
I only have 1 mortise chisel, because I pretty much only do 3/8” mortises. It sits there on my wall-o-tools for sometimes months. But when I need it, I love it. It’s a brute.
Thanks for checking it out! Between watching this video, and you saying that, I may have to get a couple mortise chisels - just in case.
@@shockthefox My tool acquisition syndrome can be worse than my gear. I’m especially a sucker for neglected hand tools begging to be brought back to working condition. My mortise chisel is just the normal Narex, and it’s great. It holds its edge well, which is good because it’s a huge bevel and I don’t do fancy microbeveling and stuff.
Incredible craziness Tye. This thing is amazing, I love it. Love the creativity, the innovation, the balls. Incredible.
Thanks man. People like you (and the other knuckleheads) are the ones that force (encourage) me to take chances… #allhailboneheadsbone
This really is an interesting guitar design. Dave Dickens on his youtube channel uses one bolt on a few of his guitar designs. Some of his designs he calls travel guitars and he has used one bolt with screw thread inserts. The one he uses is different than the one you used. They are more of just a large slotted bolt that has a straight cut through the top of the bolt like a giant screw. Your guitar sounds really nice. Has nice rich tones with a bunch of sustain. If you had not mentioned that you had to change the design and up the acrylic riser where the strings come through the body I would have thought you planed it to be this way all along. it works well with the other riser of acrylic you used for the bridge it matches well with it.
I love Dave’s builds! I was really happy with the change of the “tailpiece”🤘
I want one of those twin turbo vises so bad, but man they aren't cheap! I love how your guitar turned out man!
Thank you man🤘
Awesome work Tye! That finishing process looked like a lot of fun to paint on!
Thanks man! Steel wool soup is not delicious. Just sayin.
Great job, really creative build.
Thank you🤘
Really cool brother. We will keep the community thriving. Everything I have learned about building is through or because of this community. I'm a proud member and I'm so glad you are involved in this as well. Awesome build man!! Peace & Love
Thanks man.
Such a cool guitar, absolutely beautiful! and that relief!!!
Great to see the entire process having seen the IG snippets
thanks for following along, and I’m glad you dig it🤘
Great work as always.
Thank you man! I appreciate you 🤘
@@shockthefox Right back ya brother!
Awesome build, and refreshing video. You just got a new subscriber! 🎸
Thank you🤘
Love it! The oak looks really cool stained, nice and gnarly. I think the strings need earthing, maybe through one of the ferrules on the back. The fretboard material is interesting too.
Thanks! All of the strings are grounded through the bridge. That is what the second tube is for. 🤘
@@shockthefox Ah, right. It was only noisy on the all out channel. It is a shame we have no million mile anything here in the UK, lol.
Really cool build mate. I dug it 😊👍🏼. Glad it didnt explode at the end 😅
Thanks for checking it out🤘
It didn't fall apart (in fact, it sounded like it was still in tune). And lazy or not, you made that bandsaw blade look like it was made for work like that. Incredible build overall. Great work (as usual), Tye!
Thank you very much… I really should get in the habit of just swapping blades… it only takes a few minutes. 🤘
Excellent Work Unbelievable , next one would be a Clasical Acoustic 8 strings 🤠
Thank you🤘
That is one cool guitar. I really enjoy seeing builders/luthiers trying new approaches to making guitars. It's great to see something innovative rather than the same couple of designs being done over & over again since the first electric guitars were built. Thanks for sharing this video, I really enjoyed it. Great looking and sounding instrument! Oh... the vinegar and steel wool concoction for staining turned out great as well. It worked especially nice on the white oak. Best regards. ~Glenn
Thank you very much for checking it out! I appreciate it. 🤘
That's a very cool guitar 👍 may have to buy me some tickets for it. I've been experimenting with the iron vinaigrette sauce stuff on oak and walnut as I can get pieces from work and apparently you can get some QUEBRACHO Powdered TANNIN to make it really black but I just made a cup of black tea with 4 tea bags and wiped that on before applying the iron sauce made a huge difference in the colour.
Thank you🤘
I've been following along on Instagram, great work!
Thank you very much🤘
The weak link is the plastic tail piece riser. I'd bet money it will either bend or crack from constant pressure over time. Tempered glass would have been more stable but it's almost impossible to work with.
I have faith. 🤘
Good to see someone not relying on epoxy pour
This was a fun one🤘
Welll that’s different to last year’s! I love the neck attachment - I’ve seen a few like this on some arch tops and really liked them on those too. Very interesting guitar - would be very decent to play live too!
Yeah… Ken Parker and Cranmer use this type of way to join the neck to the guitar… and those guitars are beautiful!
I think it will be perfect design for headless guitar!!!😅
Thank you 🤘
@@shockthefox rock on
Only one thing.. You forgot the bridge pickup.. 😄😄🇪🇸🇪🇸
Dammit😆🤘
@@shockthefox 😄😄🎸🎸
I just did that vinegar and wire wool thing earlier this year myself on a cherry build, results are good but it really stinks when using it lol
Totally mad looking build buddy! But I dig it
Yeah… it didn’t smell great. 😆🤘
I've got an interesting question about using steel wool+ vinegar to blacken wood. I'm interested primarily in fretboards, and what tannin filled wood wood make a reasonable fretboard to blacken? Would their be any other issues in using a iron acetate finished fretboard?
This is my first time trying it… so I would think you need to experiment. Sorry. 🤘
I’m a template guy too👍👍
Only way to ensure that you can do it at least twice. 😆🤘
I wonder if the original builders of the boxcar realized that after a million miles, the oak they were using would be so expensive to replace, that the industry would use composites of aluminium, steel, fiberglass, polyurethane, and insulation to make boxcar flooring. I'm sure it would have saddened them to know that old growth forests were a thing of the past, and the thirst for lumber would drive man to push nature to its brink, considering the fact that we are part of the very world we are destroying.
Making guitars from recycled materials, is a fantastic idea.
It was an incredibly fun project, and it felt good to do it. 🤘
It Didn't. Nice
