I remember when Yamaha put out the first 4 stroke snow machine engine back in 2003/4? The sled was an overweight turd, especially if you were at altitude/hill climbing. Then, someone put a turbo on it and the rest is history. Happy to see them in aviation

Arctic Cat produced the 4 stroke model in 1999. Well Yamaha produces great engines, Suzuki is better, and in many more markets than Yamaha.

This as well as all videos created by Steve and his daughter are in keeping with the tradition of an incredible vast knowledge of mechanics starting in his youth and continuing on into the passion of aviation. His willingness to share this to those of us just starting in the sport of STOL aviation is testimony to the infectious enthusiasm that permeates all of his videos. While I will never likely be using the horsepower that he is able to harness, its nonetheless comforting to know that the structural parameters and durability of the platform he is using his exactly the one I own. If it can take the stress and strain in his different variations you can rest assured that the limitations that aircraft provides are far greater than what I am capable of imparting on it.
Again Bravo on this and many other educational videos..... Keep them coming !.

Hey Steve - been watching you for a while.
I watch another channel called Cleetus McFarland and he's gotten into aviation - specifically STOL with his Carbon Cub, and I think it would be magical if the two of you could link up.
I know he would definitely enjoy seeing your skill in action and hearing your vast knowledge of STOL. I also think it would do a massive service to STOL to be exposed to his broad fan base who instantly gravitated to it.
I'm just a 40yr old dad vicariously living through the two of you, but I have a feeling you guys would go together like peanut-butter and jelly.

I know Teal has a Yamaha engine in his RV and appears to be having great success with it. You guys should get together and design a FWF for the RV’s. With the price and waiting times for a Lycoming, think there’s a huge untapped market there.

That engine is sick. Excellent power. Owe yahmaha 998 turbo sidewinder😊 i can get massive power out of them. I set records doing built sleds im out of wisconsin few miles from eaa wittman field area all the jsts buzz me. We pushed 600 hp out of one but to keep reliability 500 is reliable range for the builds we been doing. Check out our osp outlaw yahamaha nytro 😊😊😊 i knew you had a turbo. You want dependability too. The new sidewinder engines can put massive power. I like the apex motors 😊. All yahmmys are insane. Stick to yahmaha id go to the edge of the earth with them. If you come to eaa let me know id love to go up if able . Im a few blocks out. One stop performance really can crank some stuff up. Man i love it i was watching your vids of you cooking 😊 run em open exhaust i love it. You can get a kit that opens and closes electronically but everythings weight.¹ you would think im coo coo if you seen me tuning my sleds im out all night playing but i learned them well from it. I am asuming your using the nytro 1049cc god i love that motor but ill say the newer sidewinder motors are much more capable and lighter.different spund though . The older apexes ypu could get stupid power out of them. I dont know what your allowed but the new polaris rzr makes a four cylinder and man that can take a piss pounding and ive seen 1000hp out of them from a place i know thats really good in florida. That new four cylinder is ridiculously tuff. I am more partial to yahmaha though. But at the end of the day the rzr r 4 cylinder is just meant to take boost. Id really like to go up if you come to eaa. You know alot and seem like a gu ru . I love it. Those engines done right can really take a beating. Yamaha is my favorite ever . A billet blocks the way to go. I know guys that makem . Thumbs up all day. I dont know what your allowed to do though. I still love yahmaha im just thinking out loud. Throw me in there please if you come to eaa this yr my company does all the traffic control out there. Contact jamie at stom companies plz we are just a few miles from eaa. Thats are home.
