Even in these pandemic times, this mall seems to be fully operational and reminds me of the suburban malls I frequented as a teenager back in the 1980s. The decor is better than those old malls of my youth, so good for them.
I like Bayview Village even though it has some very high end stores. The Loblaws grocery store & the LCBO are huge & Pusateri's deli section is fantastic. Also, that condo building on Bayview to the west of the mall was built on a sliver of land & that's why it looks the way it does.
Nice! Thanks so much. Kmart opened where I grew up in Elgin county in 1978. All gone now. But yes that is a nice mall. If I came near I would definitely go through.
Hey, Johnny Strides. How are you? OMG what a surprise! I have not been inside Bayview Village Mall in probably around 40 years. I miss Kmart that used to be there along with I think The Bay too. I used to live across from the south side of Fairview Mall up until about 20 years ago. I cannot believe the amount of condo towers around there now!😳
Hi Johnny! This was a terrific walk!! Thanks so much. A friend has recently moved out to the North York area, and I will be visiting in the next couple of months. I am really good at getting around in downtown Toronto, but I don't know this area well, so your video is really helpful. The nearest station I will have access to is Sheppard Yonge. This mall looks like it a has some terrific stores! That is great for people who live in the neighbourhood! I'm also not a mall person but I really enjoyed seeing Bayview Village Mall!! Terrific huge liquor store! Loblaw's and the liquor store are great flagship stores to have there for convenience!! Terrific view of the skyline In North York!! I really enjoy your comprehensive information! Stay well!! :-)
I grew up in Greater Toronto Area and I love shopping malls.... (Yorkdale, Eaton Center, Square One, Fairview, Markville and Hillcrest) but I never really visit this mall. (I might have to come here tomorrow, that's why I youtube). This mall size is basically Richmond Hill Hillcrest mall size (maybe even smaller? I don't even think they have Hudson Bay)
Good morning J. Strides how r tings goin for long weeknd bet going soo well just the way you like it please don't gobble all that delix turkey please save sume for me. I really like this fresh streamed walk through ritzy bayview village to bessarion. very interesting and well-detailed cheers
23:28 "It is really kind of a shame, because this area has a lot of potential." Well, since all the really good areas to redevelop Sheppard Avenue next to the subway are still available, we can say that that potential is still there. The bad designs of the 1990s and early 2000s are in the wrong location, and the good ones are still available!
I hate shopping malls, but still enjoyed the video. 😊 *(Ref to your cheeky question) Of course working isn't more important then watching the Premier with all you lovely people... but gotta go out and earn some dosh... or I wouldn't be able to be a double JS channel member and send you $$ for your booze lol 😜🥃🍺😉
Dear Mr. Johnny Strides... I typically write quirky comments, but on this one, I will simply say... VERY EXCELLENT... Johnny is Toronto's Vlogger... Uncanny work ethics that truly make your vlogging of Toronto and the Malls quite enjoyable... The End... Always in Good Taste... CHEERS!... Be Supportive and Subscribe... Hey, come a little closer... I want to whisper in your ear.... Check out Johnny Stumbles...
My family moved up to that neighbourhood when Bayview Village was open air. This was 1970, and it was ugliest thing you'd ever seen, with a Kmart at one end, witih junky stores and some kind of Pancake House sitting between it and Sheppard. No subway, no condos and Sheppard had a lot of homes built along the north and south sides. Suburbia at its finest, boring as hell.
While some people enjoy the burbs they're certainly not for me. At least not the modern form of them... the older style (such as Riverdale in Toronto) are excellent IMO.
Having worked here all I can say is this mall is a piece of shiny crap. They rubber stamped anything Donna Percival, the previous mall manager wanted, I believe they used this place as a tax write off, and the place is nothing but empty high end fashion stores because she wanted a “boutique hotel”. She even tried to het rid of the Loblaws, LCBO, and the Shoppers because it was not “haute” enough. She failed, but the mall is still just a well polished turd years after she was fired when the new company took over.
I´m from Brazil and i really like your videos. Good job!!!
the area i grew up in and am still in!!!!! Johnny strides has arrived!!!!
Ahhhh, my old stomping grounds. Literally grew up in the complex right behind the mall until I moved to Yonge and Sheppard in my early 30's.
Even in these pandemic times, this mall seems to be fully operational and reminds me of the suburban malls I frequented as a teenager back in the 1980s. The decor is better than those old malls of my youth, so good for them.
Your walks help cope with my anxiety! Thank you Johnny
Thank you Johnny. I remember when the roof went on this mall and Don Mills Mall. I would sometimes shop at K-Mart.
I always used to shop at the K-mart in that mall, putting things on layaway....lol!!!

Very enjoyable video, especially the tour of the mall, which was your first time, as it was for us also. Thanks for sharing.
I used work as a security guard here from 2015-2020. Haven’t been back ever since and it’s nice to look at this video to remember the mall.
Really I had seen very few commuters at Bessarion Station. Thanks for the Sunday walk.
Nice walk through the shopping mall looking like you have the subway too yourself.
Stay safe and well.

Cool short walk! The mall was a lot more middle class, years ago. Definitely a local mall mostly for nearby residents, then and now.
Mall might have been middle class until about the late 70's, but by the early 80's it already established it's reputation as a booshie mall.

Yes it looks like Sherway Mall
It is car centric but I can see maybe a much more pedestrian friendly and transit future.
i like Bayview village

Yesterday was my birthday Johnny. 😇🎂
Happy belated bday~!
Good 🌄afternoon Johnny Stride. I love Bayview Village. I haven't been there in over 6 years. Is there a Pusateris in this mall?
The answer is in the video :P

Dude, shit mall is empty. thanks for your video though!
Damn, what's going on, the crazies are everywhere in Toronto now, smh...too bad
Oh yes. It is way nicer than Gerard square mall. I don't like Gerard square.
Gerard square mall is not even in the same league as Bayview village mall .
