  • I made a community post about this a couple of days ago and now that I've really sat down and thought about it more I think I am going to solidify this decision in video form.
I'll probably come out with more details in the coming weeks, but for now I just want to say that this channel is going different places, Genshin and Honkai will no longer be the only focus, although I'm not ditching it all together, and variety with higher effort and longer videos coming on the horizon. I already am working on a script that I'm expecting to balloon in size like the Beginner's Guide video.
See you guys on the flipside when I stream next.

New viewer here! I joined after your recent portal video and finished your Beginner's Guide video too (a game I've also played!). Videogame essayist and analysts who take the time to delve deeper to break down games are surprisingly hard to find on UA-cam. Especially ones with new things to say such as yourself. Overall, good job and I look forward to what you have to say in future!

I’ve watched the beginners guide video loads and I love the Portal Effect video too, if you enjoy this stuff then definitely do it because those two videos are the only reason I’m subbed lol, I have no interest in Genshin but our shared interest in The Beginners Guide brought me here. It’s most important that you do what you enjoy, so whatever that is I hope it goes well for you. Thanks for the great videos 👍

oh I wasn't planning to subscribe cause I saw the beginner's guide video was an anomaly in your channel (which is fine) but knowing you plan to do more stuff with that vibe I'm all for it! (although don't feel locked into that too~)

hobbies are meant to be fun! i'm glad you're planning on making content that you're more passionate about.
good luck with the rest of your semester and can't wait to see what you cook up :]

Literally just came from the talking stick video, stumbled on it while in a lore rabbit hole and subscribed. But I absolutely think you should branch out and pursue where your passion leads. As a genshin player and consumer of genshin content, I've seen tones of creators burn out of the franchise especially since its audience retention is good, but also peaks and valleys with the version cycles. Its healthier for yourself as an individual and as a channel to make genshin content when you actually want to, which will typically be around the early patches of a new version when hype picks up and it'll drop off for players and creators alike as a version goes on.
Looking forward to future Hoyo content. Looking forward to future whatever else content. Your perspective and passion are what make your videos worth watching, genshin is good analytics that get people like me to stumble on the rest of your content.

I haven’t yet watched your beginners guide video myself as I’m interested in playing the game first but I just hope you make videos you feel enthusiastic about making because that rubs off on the viewer and makes it a cooler experience for everyone
Im very good with words (haven’t been writing this comment for several minutes, definitely) BUT BASICALLY I hope you prioritise doing what you enjoy instead of catering to a specific audience bcs your video essays (if I can call them that?) are very cool and it shows you’ve put a lot of care into them and it’s great

The other day my brother told me about how his college stopped its normal schedule for half a day to make all students sit in the auditorium and listen to a lecture. Some expert had called for everyone to listen to him speak, and for some inexplicable reason the school complied. The topic? Fish. Now, my brother is not very interested in fish. He does not enjoy fishing, he does not eat fish, and generally speaking he does not know much about them. Fish simply is not one of his typical interests. But when the lecturer was going on and on, my brother said he could not help but listen keenly anyway. The lecturer had so much to say, and was so enthusiastic about fish, that it was entertaining to just listen to him talk.
When watching your Beginner's Guide video, this same kind of enthusiasm that I can only assume the fish-man had is present in your voice as well. I have never heard of half the series, books, and artists you talk about in your streams, but when you speak about them with such energy and eagerness, it is fun hear about them anyway. It's always more fun to listen to people speak when it is evident that they care about the topic. This change might lose you some viewers who are only here for the Hoyoverse content, but your core fanbase won't mind. Those of us who simply want to hear what you have to say will be happy to listen to whatever you choose to talk about. As long as you're enjoying what you do, we'll be here to enjoy it with you.

Hey man, whatever content you bring forth ill watch it. I found you through your beginners guide video essay, which i loved. I read Piranesi because it was on your list in the beginning of that video, which was a wonderful read. I also play genshin, and I'm a classical pianist so i'm genuinely interested in what you can bring as a content creator. I look forward to your future! thank you and take care of yourself

just do what you gotta do! we all want you to enjoy what you're doing and creating it, and that will show in your work. we don't want you to stun lock you into a specific genre. as much as i prefer your genshin content, i remember adoring that Beginners Guide video too, so i know that even if you split off of genshin, at least i know i'll still enjoy your content. it'd probably be easier to ease out of it, like if you have some video ideas for genshin still you can use those so that it's not too jarring for yourself or the audience, but either way, it's up to you. do what will make you happy. we'll be here with you through it💜

Pretty late on this but I want to say that I fully support you in doing your own thing and moving to do different topics and games so that you can do topics that really interest you. Variety content creators don't tend to do as a well as other content creators that focus on a specific type of content, but a part of me always prefer them because it's much more likely that the creator will put their focus on topics and creative works that interest them and that they end up enjoy doing in the end (though this does not mean that burn out cannot still be a problem). But besides my own personally opinion on the matter, I always prefer that creators make work that they are personally passionate about, so my thought on this really is for you to do whatever you feel like doing.
It also sounds like, in regards to your relation with Genshin, that a break will be really useful for you and allow your brain to focus on something new and fresh for the time being. Which is not surprising since not everyone can focus on a particular thing in regards to a hobby for a long time, and I can only imagine how much worse it would feel as a content creator (which again, why I have a preference for variety creators). But I would also still support your decision if you decide to not make videos on Genshin or other Hoyo games in the future.

There’s nothing wrong with taking things at your own pace, I have taken a pause on Genshin from time to time and find the game more enjoyable that way.
Look forward to your next videos!

1:43 Pyrocinical made a video explaining that, shorter videos "go viral" but die off, longer videos live multiple lives.
youtube wants to push both content since shorter form gets more views = more ads. longer form has the people who are paying attention watching more ads on less videos.
Beginners guide video is great, its why I even found your channel. I'm excited to be recommended your next video.
I'm not a source of infinite wisdom, but if you need any help, reach out to me, even if its a second brain to bang against a wall.

Ive always enjoyed your lore videos because of the depth of research, thought, and analysis put into them. So honestly I think doing video essays on any topic you find interesting is a great idea! One of my favorite youtubers, Jesse Cox, has been doing UA-cam for 10 years and has talked about needing to change up content many times, whether for creative reasons or just from seeing how videos are doing. It is definitely worth a shot.
And tbh even from the perspective of just playing games its very easy to burn out on something like Genshin, I myself quit the gane for a whole year and even now I definitely dont login every day

The key word to the whole video is "HOBBY".
Your life tutorial is coming to an end now, and soon you will find a job that statistically you will not enjoy, but have to do so you can pay your bills and your studend debt. So why waste your precious free time on things that you don't enjoy?
