    Fantastic video Freddy!
I think you just sold me on picking it up.

It's a really solid and fun game. Just my favourite type of game, as I said, that gets out of the way and lets us get on with the game.
Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated.

I like how flexible the character creation is - you can create a barbarisn with a little battle magic ability for example

Love these rules, they're so simple yet flexible, and more than that, they're fun.

So simple and streamlined - and as kids when we played we stripped it down even more! Thanks for the overview

I prefer even lighter. The original FF: Introductory RPG was not enough but thankfully there are great games that took that system and ran with it! Troika! for one.
Spellzard! is what I’d highly recommend. Takes the original FF into RPG and puts forth a few concepts from AFF in a very simple way. Great, lil game!
    I think you’d enjoy!
(And I’m saying this as a Yank! lol)
    Cheers!
    Enjoyed the vid! 🙂

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out. I love light fast systems, but do like an amount of crunch, as I like the way you can use it to keep players involved.

Recommend using an extra, different colored die while rolling for combat. For the damage/armor result, roll at same time as the 2d.
Also, if people don't like the different roll high and low methods regarding normal skill use and opposed/combat rolls, there is an optional rule for using roll-high for everything. AFF is simple enough to modify and house rule a lot of stuff without breaking things. Maybe even more so than something like B/X rules.

I was reminded since I recorded this video, that our group is using the combat method of rolling for all skill rolls.
So rolling and adding your skill vs a Target number. Using my character for an example, as I pointed out, Lore skills are pretty pointless for him, as he cannot roll less that his skill +1 for being a Priest of the God of Knowledge, + his actual Special Lore skills. So using the combat skills, with variable target numbers depending on the difficulty of the test makes a lot of sense, and since it works the way of the combat system, it's easy to implement.

@@RPGGamer - It's all preference, really. Personally, I'm quite happy with roll-under systems as there are fewer numbers to juggle. Being able to say, "roll under your skill value -2" is faster, to me, than "roll and add your skill value to it along with a -2 and get 14 or higher" for an example off the top of my head. Some people have a hangup with roll-under systems, especially when it's a mix of high & low in the game depending on the type of roll done. Guess I'm just old enough to have gotten used to those things long ago, however, when such things were fairly common. The best approach is the one least confusing for the most confused participant.

If fighting fantasy gets a throwback. It would be called retro fighting fantasy.

If I remember correctly the original name was something like Dungeoneer, which I feel has the right level of retro, with the feel of indie games. So that'd be cool to go back to.

What dice roller you used in this video?

      Teal dice roller.

Which is especially nice, as it's a JavaScript library and can be implemented into your own projects.
