@@_illvillain_2950 Wish you best of luck with graduation! Yeah, it is a hard decision to complete masters and then spend 5 more years in pharmacy. I would say look into more videos and search in the internet to see what other people say. Hey Kennedy, what college are you attending. I’m a high school senior and i’m contemplating whether to start with community college or a 4 year university.
I was studying for nursing, but I have a strong interest in pharmacy, and I was worried about job opportunities but not anymore. I think I might switch my degree path.
Great communicator. All true points. Con #6 - you don’t get to apply all that knowledge and learning especially in retail. Con #7- post graduation retail is physically and mentally stressful Con #8 - since there is market saturation the pay, your worth and your job is in jeopardy IMO. Very beautiful young lady. Bottom line- Don’t Do It!
I graduated from one of the most recognized local university in my country. I graduated in 2015. My CGPA is very low 2.41. After completing my training as provisionally registered pharmacist, I served my compulsory service for two years. Then, I am out of job. I don't really like the idea of working in community setting. I would like to work again in hospital setting. It's been 5 years I am without a job (real job). In the meantime I studied programming. But I don't know.
hey im a junior in high school and my mind has been set on pharmacy and this has been really good in helping me get more info and motivation! im looking towards clinical pharmacy and would love to be working in a hospital. I love this video! thanks
Thank you for this. I have always felt a strong attraction towards the medical field but never really knew what area of the field I wanted to pursue. As I started to get older and think about my future more I discovered the field of Pharmacy and immediately grew a strong interest and attraction towards it. Lately, though, I have been feeling discouraged as I am taking Advanced Placement Chemistry in junior year and honestly do not like it. Now that being said, I still truly think I will like Pharmacy so I was wondering if there are any tips that you would give me to see if I truly like the career :) Thank you so much for this informational video, I will definitely be tuning in for more!
Hi! I would recommend speaking to someone who has your dream career. Hearing their journey and learning about their day to day will give you more insight into the career and if it's really for you. Don't let one semester of school deter you from your dream career:) Hope this helps.
Thank you. You are indeed a +ve person. I enjoyed the video. I'm currently a Pharmacy technician and I can't wait to begin my Pharmacy program journey. I am thinking of going into Industry Pharmacy; Compounding Pharmacy. I'm tired of retail as a technician lol. I've been bombarding the Pharmacists at my job with loads of questions about PHC cos I'm graduating with a B.S in Biology next year, and I think they're getting a little annoyed with me 😆 [even though they said they're not], so I decided to ask UA-cam today. I'm glad I stumbled upon your video.
Pharmacy was a 5 year degree in 1980 when I matriculated after high school. It's now a 6 year degree and you leave with a PharmD. They don't require a Bachelor's degree in hand to pursue a pharmacy career. I assume that if you want to attend pharmacy school after graduating with a BA/BSci degree that you would need to show that you completed for credit earlier science coursework. If not, you can get in and start from the beginning of the pharmacy coursework.
@@lilovs9952 well, TO HIM schooling was easy. (I looked at his transcripts because I found it to be unbelievable and indeed he got all As and a few Bs in pharmacy school.) NOW, that doesn’t mean for others it will be easy. I’m just saying what he said. I’m in an EdD program. I wouldn’t dare join a pharmacy program. Science is not my thing, and it’s uninteresting to me. And I agree with you, being a scientist is hard work. But then again, to some being a scientist is easy. Everyone is different.
Just finished 3rd year today (5 years in total in my country). I never felt as much pressure 💔 Maybe the reason is I didn’t choose pharmacy i kinda get forced. I hope i like it eventually, I don’t want to spend my life hating the my field. btw Thank you for the great video ♥️♥️
I was forced into it too(parents). I was miserable! I stayed in it for 10 years then pursued my passion which is law. Best decision ever!! Pharmacy is a good first degree, if you don’t like it, you have many other options from there. Best of luck to you.
this video help so much thank you. I am halfway through my undergraduate program and had been set on going to law school for my parents. but I've always had an unavoidable pull towards the medical field. i was researching about different jobs in the medical field and pharmacy just piqued my interest. Im thinking about switching programs but restarting isn't easy.
It's so unfortunate that many people in my country do not see Pharmacy that way.. I wish you can do a video comparing studying pharmacy in the US and Liberia.
lmao @ earning potential. New grad pharmacists are being offered 32 hours max by corporate chains at $40/hr. They pay more at CVS but that also means 14 hour shifts, no lunch break, no bathroom break, and 500 rx per day with 1 tech at most.
Starting salary is so much more less than it was 20 years ago when I graduated. The field is saturated due to increased supply of pharmacists. But if you’re passionate about it, don’t let it stop you.
im doing undergrad now. im so so excited. its going to be so stressful and very hard work but it seems that it’s going to be worth it for me in the end! we have to do undergrad before getting into a pharmacy program. i also question which pharmacists you speak of when you said they dispense the meds. here, in retail we the technicians dispense and do everything else. all the pharmacists do is counsel and verify.
Jasmine Perry thank you! i've heard a lot of people say, "don't do pharmacy, there's barley any open jobs for pharmacists." or however they say it, but it's like something i am so passionate about.
Would biochemistry be a good preparatory major for a career in pharmacy? I love chemistry and I definitely want to do something involving that and health, so I think this would be a suitable option!
Hi Jasmine! I am looking to apply to pharmacy school this year in November. I am taking my second round of ochem for ochem 2 this fall. I am terrible at chemistry. I struggle soooooo much. I love science and physiology, but chemistry just doesn’t click with me. I am able to do it but it takes me 10x longer than other students to understand. Every time I tell anyone I want to become a pharmacist. They all assume I love chemistry. As a pharmacy student would you say that someone who isn’t good at chemistry even try to become a pharmacist? Thank you in advance. :)
Hi! I'm actually not amazing at chemistry either. In my pharmacy program, there was a good amount of chemistry my first semester, but beyond that it's been more pharmacotherapy. I would recommend to look at the pharmacy program you may be interested in and examine their curriculum to see how much chemistry is required. Best of luck :)
Hello, great video. I’m honestly really excited because I wanna be a pharmacist and it’s litteraly the perfect career for me since I live science and chemistry. But I have one question, do you need to be really good at math to be a pharmacist because I struggle a little with math. But I am willing to get better to become a pharmacist. Answer when you can!
Me with my 2.3 gpa as a high school junior “ I wanna be a pharmacist 😂🤓” but I am gonna try these last 2 years of high school to atleast have a 3.0 gpa when I leave
Okay I’m 11 and I want to be a pharmacist and I want to work with the pills for people who need them and I do want a pretty big family and this is one of my questions how much do pharmacists make I’m only asking because I do want a big family
Your vid was def helpful! Thank you! One thing thst confuses me is how people even LIVE while going to school so long!? This is our 20s, we won't be this young again. Do you barely scrape by? Do you have to work part time? Roommates? I'm terrified of struggling tbh.
You're welcome. In reality, I work some weekends at a pharmacy to make extra money. Financially, loans, grants and scholarships help pay for both school and my living expenses. I kind of think about it as my return on investment. I'm investing in my education to make more money in the long run.

Hey! I would love to know about how you changed from biology to pharmacy.... could you make a video on what did u exactly do? Im so confused abt what i want to do rn, and its gonna be such a huge help.
Like 3 months ago I got accepted in college to be chemistry pharmacist and I want to work in industrial Pharmacy because I love being in laboratories and I want to be part of the health world but I didn't want to be a doctor (besides because in country doctor's salary are really bad) I was scared because I don't want to just work in a drug store or have economic problems, but it's multifaceting and I'm sure I want to work in a laboratory and it's sad that this career don't have the value or respecte due to, people think that pharmacist only sell drugs and no more but investigating you realize it's a lot of sides, Also I think every career it's hard and saturated (more than others, like in my country there're too many doctors, lawyers, architects or engineers) it's more how you develop your knowledge. I'm 16 I love biology and I like chemistry but my biggest fear is that I like chemistry but I'm not that good so I'm afraid of not doing right (also my parents are going to pay a really expensive college so I'm afraid of disappoint them) but thank you for the video and sorry if I had an orthography mistake, my native language it's not English 😂. I'd appreciate if you answer, idk anything 😂 thank for the video
Congratulations on being accepted into college! Good luck with everything. If you're unsure of a career path, try to speak with your college advisor about career options before deciding on one.
I wanna make the world a better place and cure things that cant be cured and go close to fixing cancer and Aids my goal and ill make it happen even if my hole life in studying both of them for my hole life no way ill give up tell death
I love biology but hate chemistry!!! I am still in high school and I just wanted to have a better knowledge of this career. Do you have to take physics/calculus? Is it mandatory?
Chemistry is an aspect of pharmacy, so chemistry classes are required to get accepted. Physics and calculus are also required by most pharmacy schools in the US
So i originally wanted to major in marine biology but I found that it might not work for me. Being a pharmacist honestly is starting to intrest me because the study of medicine and medical conditons. I just don’t think being a doctor would be my best choice because I can be an emotional person and don’t think I could put myself under the pressure. So having the background of the condition but not having to communicate with the patient as much i feel would be a better option but I really can’t decide. I want to help people but I don’t think I could emotionally
You know yourself best! It may be helpful to create a pros and cons list to determine your favorite and least favorite parts of marine biology and pharmacy. That may help with your decision. Best of luck :)
Heyyyyy! I'm in grade 12 right now and I've always wanted to become a pharmacist but I really didn't know why but I've been watching videos and I'm getting discouraged. I think chemistry is my best subject but I don't really pass it that much. I've been so upset, people from other videos are making me so scared and I really need your help and advice, I'll be entering in September. Please I really need help🤎
Hi just wondering have you heard of American university of health sciences PharmD program, they are three years and you get your pharmacy D degree, I’m just curious how do you know it’s legit for getting jobs after
Hi! You do not have to major in biology first. There are programs in the US that allow you to apply right after high school. These programs are typically 6 years, and you would take pre-pharmacy courses for ~2 years.
Thank you so much for this video!! I just finished my 2nd year as an undergrad majoring in Biology! :) I wanted to know what the curriculum is like in pharmacy school, like what classes do you take and stuff like that? I love human anatomy/physio and learning about diseases and wanted to know if that was a part of it. Thank you! :)
You're welcome! I have a video coming soon of my year in pharmacy recap that will list classes I took my second year. Honestly, curriculum varies based on the school you're interested in but most pharmacy schools focus on pharmacology, pharmacotherapy, kinetics and variations of other courses.
Thank you for the video. BUT why did you do Biology school for 4 years?????? couldn't u have just done pharmacy school for 4 years and get paid the same??? Im very interested in pharmacy thank you!
To get a pharmd degree (also know as doctorate of pharmacy) takes 4 years. In order to get into pharmacy school to earn your pharmd, you must complete the prerequisite courses which usually takes only 2 years of undergrad studies but some do 4 years so they can get their bachelors. It’s the same outcome though if you enter pharmacy school.
I never set out to be a pharmacist. My first degree was Biochemistry and I wanted to get a PhD and do research. But during my first job as a drug rep, I kinda got interested in pharmacy, so I applied got in and went. Should have stayed on my original path.

Same starting soon
Hey Kennedy, what college are you attending. I’m a high school senior and i’m contemplating whether to start with community college or a 4 year university.
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL so many pharmacy channels are so doom and gloom about pharmacy, but I feel like it would be a fun career!! this gave me hope lol
I was studying for nursing, but I have a strong interest in pharmacy, and I was worried about job opportunities but not anymore. I think I might switch my degree path.
Now you are the first reason why I want to become a pharmacist like you ♥️
Great communicator.
I am pharmacist in Brazil. I loved your view about this career.
Wonderful! Many greetings
I love this video! thanks
it's no problem! good look with everything :)
Your review is fantastic 👏 👌. I'm a pharmacy student and your opinion about the over saturation is very persuasive 🌸
My boyfriend is a pharmacist, and he said it was super easy. He even graduated with honors 😩😭. At the same time, I'm crying and struggling in school.
its defiantly not super easy
💀💀
Super easy? Hmmm… if you want to be a retailer pharmacist, then sure. If you wanna be a scientist? Not at all
@@lilovs9952 well, TO HIM schooling was easy. (I looked at his transcripts because I found it to be unbelievable and indeed he got all As and a few Bs in pharmacy school.)
NOW, that doesn’t mean for others it will be easy. I’m just saying what he said. I’m in an EdD program. I wouldn’t dare join a pharmacy program. Science is not my thing, and it’s uninteresting to me.
And I agree with you, being a scientist is hard work. But then again, to some being a scientist is easy. Everyone is different.
Loved this! My mom did pharmacy and I wish she saw this before lol.
Why?
Starting pharmacy school this August I'm super excited to begin this career!
Congratulations! Good luck with your new journey :)
Same.Class of 2024🥳🥳🥳🥳
So informative!!
Thank you sis
Just finished 3rd year today (5 years in total in my country).
I never felt as much pressure 💔
Maybe the reason is I didn’t choose pharmacy i kinda get forced.
Gonna be going into pre Pharmacy next fall!
Good luck with everything :)
this video help so much thank you. I am halfway through my undergraduate program and had been set on going to law school for my parents. but I've always had an unavoidable pull towards the medical field. i was researching about different jobs in the medical field and pharmacy just piqued my interest. Im thinking about switching programs but restarting isn't easy.
You go girl 🦋!!! Thank you Queen 👸🏾
No, thank you for watching! :)
@@JasminePerry 💕💕💕
It's so unfortunate that many people in my country do not see Pharmacy that way..
I wish you can do a video comparing studying pharmacy in the US and Liberia.
I would love to, but I’m not that familiar with pharmacy in Liberia
lmao @ earning potential.
Its good to see other people want to be a Pharmacist like me.
im doing undergrad now. im so so excited. its going to be so stressful and very hard work but it seems that it’s going to be worth it for me in the end! we have to do undergrad before getting into a pharmacy program. i also question which pharmacists you speak of when you said they dispense the meds. here, in retail we the technicians dispense and do everything else. all the pharmacists do is counsel and verify.
Good luck with everything. Hard work= great reward. & I was referring to the verification process. :)
How many years of undergrad?
@@1kDomo it depends on you. do more classes, get done faster. do less, get done slower. 🤷🏼♀️
@@CECE-sm1xy & just so I’m understanding… these classes are the pre requisite courses needed to attend pharmacy school correct.
@@1kDomo yep! theres almost 30 of them in my state.
Thank you for that input it was very helpful
Thanks for the tips!
another pro is you don't have to see throw up and blood as often😍
i've been wanting to do pharmacy since i was like 10 and now i'm 15!
Noice, same.
Aww! That's exciting. Good luck with your journey !
Jasmine Perry thank you! i've heard a lot of people say, "don't do pharmacy, there's barley any open jobs for pharmacists." or however they say it, but it's like something i am so passionate about.
me too!!
Don’t do it trust me it sucks
Wow. You’re so smart!!! Doctor 🥼👩🏽⚕️
thank you!
Market saturation scares the hell out of me.
Nice vid keep it up!
I'm 17 , a pharmD student
I am in 2nd year of pharm.D your videos are Informative 👌
I love this ❤❤
I take physics (but not bio oops) and I'm currently considering this... thanks for sharing
Although I’m not going this route I love looking at experiences of these healthcare professionals like you!
Is it hard to get a job in pharmacy if there’s market saturation? 😅
Im 27 & im a pharmacy technician Im really considering this & I have soo many questions
Is there a possibility I can message you with my questions
sure! feel free to message me on Twitter @dose_of_jasmine
Would biochemistry be a good preparatory major for a career in pharmacy? I love chemistry and I definitely want to do something involving that and health, so I think this would be a suitable option!
Of course! Just make sure you take the appropriate prerequisite courses required by the university you want to attend.
Great earning potential as new grad. Never make much more than that.
Me with my 2.3 gpa as a high school junior “ I wanna be a pharmacist 😂🤓” but I am gonna try these last 2 years of high school to atleast have a 3.0 gpa when I leave
same i have a 2.6 so do you like have a plan 😭 im stressing tf out rn
@@grandiose5720 more than likely just gonna stop hanging with my friends as much just so I can atleast put a bit more work in 😂
Question: how do you make money to cover the cost of food/rent, etc. (basically living) while in school. Or do you live on campus?
Everyone's financial situation is different. I work and use loans (unfortunately)
Jasmine Perry did you have a part-time job or worked on campus?
@@JasminePerry Is it hard to balance working hours with studying/class hours? :/
@@AstaHalo I have a part time job, but my manager is flexible because I'm in school

Okay I’m 11 and I want to be a pharmacist and I want to work with the pills for people who need them and I do want a pretty big family and this is one of my questions how much do pharmacists make I’m only asking because I do want a big family
70-110k but really depends on where you live
Your vid was def helpful! Thank you!
One thing thst confuses me is how people even LIVE while going to school so long!? This is our 20s, we won't be this young again. Do you barely scrape by? Do you have to work part time? Roommates? I'm terrified of struggling tbh.
You're welcome. In reality, I work some weekends at a pharmacy to make extra money. Financially, loans, grants and scholarships help pay for both school and my living expenses. I kind of think about it as my return on investment. I'm investing in my education to make more money in the long run.
Hi Jasmine
Thanks for the sharing. I have applied for PharmD and the schools are requesting for some prerequisites they didn't find on my transcripts, even though I did most of them in my undergrad and Ms under different course titles. Do you have a recommendation on where I can quickly take Human Anatomy, Calculus and Microbiology prerequisites this summer? I am currently not in the States. Thanks
Hey! I would love to know about how you changed from biology to pharmacy.... could you make a video on what did u exactly do? Im so confused abt what i want to do rn, and its gonna be such a huge help.
Hello! My video coming out on Friday will detail my path to pharmacy starting with biology
Thanks very helpful ❤👍
Glad it was helpful!
Can we call doctor to pharmacist? If yes than whyy ?I'm really want to become a pharmacist but i have this one question.
Hello
Which better to continue pharamcy or to continue masters in biology ( i have bachleor degree in biology ). Give me an advice
Hi just wondering have you heard of American university of health sciences PharmD program, they are three years and you get your pharmacy D degree, I’m just curious how do you know it’s legit for getting jobs after
U don’t have to major in biology at first right. You can just go straight into pharmacy school
Hi! You do not have to major in biology first. There are programs in the US that allow you to apply right after high school. These programs are typically 6 years, and you would take pre-pharmacy courses for ~2 years.
Jasmine Perry Thank you so much for the information
Nice video, thank you from Germany!
thank you!
How much part can pharm Ds play in genome editing or latest research like Crisper/cas9?
None at all
Thank you so much for this video!!
Is there any authentic source from where all pharmacy books can easily be downloaded in pdf form?
What’s the best course to study under pharmacy please
Am a mid connection power circle ⭕ mind connection power animal connection Gpac
Should have stayed on my original path.
wow i didn't know that you did a bachelor in biology! besides i thought that you cannot possibly go after bio degree into pharmacy school. wow im so inspired... thank u!
Galina Perveeva да, в некоторых университетах модно вообще не получать бакалавриат, а просто пройти все prerequisites. То что сделала я 😄
Why would you think that one cannot possibly go after bio degree into pharmacy school?? Everyone that I know has a BS and then they do PharmD.
Yes you can! Thank you so much!
Hi, i am not sure if i should be a pharmacist or not bcoz i heard that as so many people r graduating as pharmacy jobs r less and people r unemloyed. I’ll really appreciate if u can help me out. Before doing pharmacy i want to now that r chances of me actually getting a job is high or low?
I’m a pharmacist, I’ve left the field. But it’s highly saturated now and entry salary is so much less than what we were offers 20 years ago.
For pharmacists/pharmacy students...
What exactly do you hate about he job/degree?
I have a week (yikes) to make final uni choices and I’m not sure if I want to do biomedicine or pharmacy. Any insights would be very very appreciated 😅🥰
Hi! There isn't anything I hate, but the most pressing issue right now is over saturation. Which means the job market is not as great as it once was.
Jasmine Perry I think I will choose pharmacy then. I live in Ireland so hopefully things are different here. Thanks for replying 🥰
I love how you applied someone else's major to pharmacy, do you know how I could apply psychology to pharmacy by any chance? :)
yesss
Im getting my masters in chem but I'm thinking about going to pharmacy school after! Do you think this would further help me do better in pharmacy school? I work in retail pharmacy and while I like it, i want do more clinical work, would that be more in hospital setting?
Hello! Yes, clinical pharmacists can work in hospital settings.
thank you doctor Perry
By u having a bachelor degree in biology u could have when to grad school then pharmacy D now u have to serve longerrrrr
