what a beautiful treasure from your mom, to have received some of her art supplies. She sounds like a wonderful mom and I am sorry that she is in hospice. Keeping you and your family in my prayers.
Sandy-thank you for sharing your inherited art supplies. Especially pastels…these are what re-ignited my own artistic journey, and were given to me by my mom, her own art supplies she had stopped using. She lived with us for the last 3 years of her life and was an amazing artist, my inspiration & best friend. She told me “All of my art supplies & drafting tools…I want you to have those.” When you got the soft pastels from your mom it ignited so many wonderful memories in my mind and in my heart. Our mind are always with us, and art is so personal & tangible. I treasure my mom’s paintings, her skill in teaching me, and her generous gifts to me. I know you feel the same blessed abundance. You and your family are in my thoughts❤
It really is amazing how imagining her using these stick and pencil pastels makes me think of her....these will keep her with me for many years to come :)
I saw someone take colorful pencil shavings like that and encase them in resin. I can’t remember what the end product was - it would make a cool coaster. It seems a shame to toss it all out.
I loved seeing the supplies your mom gave you and to hear you speak about her. Wishing both of you the best. I am 67 yrs old, my folks have been gone for over 25 years. I think of them often, so grateful for the memories. Take good care of yourself😘. I love your videos and attitude ☺️. Yes, I would love to see you create with these pastel pencils, as I have not used these, but thinking of buying some. PS. Love the painting at the end of the video.
So good to have your mum's art supplies, they'll turn out to be more and more precious as time goes by! That charcoal white is the best white pencil I have and I have many brands!
The pile of shavings and dust from the pencils looked like art😊 And the freshened up pencils looked like supplies that will bless you with memories whenever you use them. Praying for you and your mom ❤
What a blessing to have your mom's pencils. Each piece of art you make from them will remind you of her (not that you will ever forget her). Love to see your animals, so that's my vote for the pastels! Hugs and prayers.
I knew I had to write this before watching this video. I made that mistake on your last post and I was crying to much. I lost my 90 yr old mother a year ago and my father 7 yrs ago. There is a permanent hole in my heart and life. I lost my youngest brother, 1 yr after my mom. Just know you are in my thoughts and ♥️. I understand the pain. 🤗
Prayers for your Mom, you and your family Sandy. I have some oil colored pencils ( Derwent), from 1985! Full huge set in the tin. They out preform any pencil I have ever owned. eBay was selling them for $1100.00. But to me they are priceless. I think of the days of being in photography school, and “ hand coloring” old black and white photos. Then came the digitized computer world, to end my career. Lol.. all good though. BTW, I sharpen everything with an electric Exacto Sharpener.( the big one with 3 different size holes.) It works great! Prayers girl! 🙏🏻❤️🖌
Hoping the best for your mom. You worked so hard and spent so much time on those lovely pencils your mother gave you, I have to tell you I have tried everything on my prismacolor pencils to sharpen them. I used the Kum hand sharpener , but the quality of prismacolor pencils is not very good and they continued to break, I was waisting so much of my pencil. I bought an electric pencil sharpener and no more breakage. I bought another pencil sharpener with a larger opening for some of my larger pencils, it also works wonderfully. So I always use electric sharpeners on all the brands of pencils I have , no more breaking.
I find they don't give me the kind of point I want all the time. After an electric sharpening I need just a quick turn in a handheld to get it perfect❤️ (also electric sharpeners kill pastel pencils badly)

Happy Birthday. The pile of shavings is oddly beautiful.

Whoever made the card with the orange flower, you make very classy cards!

I'm so sorry for your loss... :(

Your sharpening tips convinced me to NOT buy pastel pencils cause I too have arthritis 😉
But I would love to see you draw something with them🥰
Happy healthy blessed birthday Sandy. You are truly the greatest artist I have been following. 🙏❤️😃
Awww I’m humbled!!
Happy birthday from someone else who celebrated the big 60 in February
Woohoo happy birthday to you too!
I'd love to see an animal using these pencils. Could you please tell us the difference between pastel pencils and regular colored pencils?
Happy birthday Sandy

Happy birthday. How did people find your address to send you cards. Wonderful of them to do it.
you go ahead & talk about your Mom in every video if you want❤
Aw thanks :)
Derwent pastel pencils are softer than the others, they need a derwent sharpener! Even today the pastels are a bit breaky!!
Oh that's good that it wasn't just me struggling! I do love a good soft pastel so yay for Derwent :)
