In my senior year of high school I had to do a presentation where, about 3 minutes before class, my partner told me she had reworked the project so that we would be doing a puppet show version of Jerry Springer addressing the cast of Hamlet. Still one of my most surreal memories.

As a trans man, there's one thing I'd like to address about Jerry's show.
When I was 11-12, I was just starting to explore the internet and UA-cam. After teaching myself some basic English (I'm French-Canadian), I ventured a bit further into videos that weren't clips from the Big Time Rush band's tv show. I found that one episode of Jerry Springer where they guess "who's the man".
That video f*cking ruined me.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, well Jerry had about two dozen people come up on stage all dolled up in gowns and told his audience that some of them were actually men. The people on stage obviously all appeared to be stunning women, so people were shocked. The audience wasted no time and tore apart every one of them, using awful stereotypes as arguments.
Some "imposters" were drag queens, but I know some of them are trans women.
Jerry organised this, used harmful language, humiliated many members of the LGBTQ+ community on his show and contributed to the perpetuation of hate and violence toward trans and queer folks. He's a piece of sh*t. And the fact that he can't understand why he needs to apologise makes everything worse.

Fun fact: The Jerry Springer show started as a serious talk show with a focus on social equality. It did not do well, so the producers started to emulate the other trash talk shows like Donahue. It quickly became one of the most watched shows on TV.
The same thing happened with the Jenny Jones Show. Bad TV is mostly the fault of we the people. Consider that whenever you ask why we can't have nice things.

One of my best buds has a traumatic family background. His mother had violent and scarring outbursts. He came from an abusive childhood. Why do I bring this up? His father was offered money to be on Jerry Springer. His father luckily said hell no but knowing people get offered money to be "crazy" for his show is disgusting.
People make their own decisions, I don't think we should jump straight to cancel culture because of that. Btw, Jerry Springer "shows" are actual trash but I still think he should be allowed to create what he wants. It's up to us to just not participate in it if we don't like it.

If you think Jerry is bad then you’ve not heard of Jeremy Kyle . I cannot explain how hypocritical, sanctimonious, and nasty he was to his contestants. The show is off air now because it led to a man killing himself . Whistleblowers came forward to say the staff were buying alcohol and drugs for the addicts coming onto the show, and that they would deliberately bait and wind people up so they would kick off . That "gene pool" thing is a dog whistle that I think Jerry is smart enough to know is a dog whistle. I went on the jerry Springer show once (audience member, the trip was free), and it was the most scripted shit ever. Before the show started, the producer or whoever came out and told us how to react. Basically:
- stand and cheer for Jerry whenever a cue was given to. Also we had to laugh at his jokes.
-when the “bad guy” of the segment came out, boo at them
- if a fight broke out, stand and cheer as loud as you can and the chant Jerry while fist pumping the air. Yes those were the exact instructions
-try to look as invested as possible whenever a camera was pointed towards you
- there was a trans person on one of the segments, so even before question time transphobia was rampant in the crowd, though I that’s par for the show.
- Most in the audience was either an old person or college kid. Some college frat guy was really into these shows and verbally sucked Jerry off whenever he opened his mouth. It was annoying as shit and by the end it seemed like everyone on set wanted to murder this dude.
- Someone’s cell phone rang while Jerry was speaking.
- Also if you followed some influencer guy on Instagram you’d get put in a raffle to get a shirt or some shit
That’s all I can remember for now, but it was some of the worst two hours of my life. Totally real situations full of real people.

"We happen to dress better" is an interesting statement to me bc in 2008 I was offered tickets to the show and was explicitly given a "business casual" dress code where women were to "dress cute" with no t-shirts allowed. The whole thing was fake anyway. He isn't really an influencer, and nobody is getting paid big money to endorse clothing when they have 20,000 followers. The whole scenario was entirely make believe.
I think Jarvis knew too and is deliberately obtuse for the sake of his own bit. He does it a lot if you go back and watch whatever he's commenting on and then his videos. But a lot of commentators on YT do it too so it seems to be a common setup for jokes.

My old roommates were traveling sideshow performers/clowns/burlesque performers and someone from the Jerry Springer show reached out to them while they were touring to ask if they wanted to come on the show for like an extremely low rate, I believe it was like $100, they wound up not being able to do it but I think that sort of explains the randomness of the background talent.

I discovered the Jerry Springer Show when I was a kid flicking through channels on a limited TV package while I was away from home and couldn't stop laughing at the insanity.
I later energetically described it to my dad (without knowing the name) and he realized what it was and was like oh no....
honestly I would love a video about other judge "reality shows" and how they reflect the American judicial system. A lot of people that show up in these programs seem to be from pretty poor places and, knowing how much costs just going to court, I wonder if they explore those people or are actually doing justice to the extent they can because the system failed them

Well he summoned that show! Remember in the “Too Hot to Handle” video he made a bit about “Love is stinky” a mock show where the contestants can’t use their sense of smell to date. WELL, I imagine it’s not very easy smelling while wearing an animal suit. That show exist because Jarvis made it real.
