OH.... MY.... WOW! I've been doing these races for six years... and it's films like this that make me want to call it quits! This looks... FANTASTIC! Very well done - please post what awards you win! This has GOT to win something! Well done!
Wow. This was a wonderfully crafted short film in its own right. The fact that the required elements were incorporated seamlessly and it was all done in 48 hours? BRAVO.
Thanks. It was pretty easy, but you do have to do a little work to interpolate the 60p footage to 24p. So either you take the footage through Cinetools or drop it in it's own 60p timeline than export it out to 23.98. Than import it back into your main 1080 24p timeline. But after you drop it in your main 1080 timeline, just do a quick manual scaling through your effects controls and it's ready to go.
Love it! Nice job. A pal of mine is doing one of these, this upcoming weekend with a pal of hers. They're excited, ofc! We just watched this & will watch a few more as a sort of video recon.
I believe we used a Shure KM32 for her voice over, and an Audio Technica short condenser shotgun mic for her other elements. They were fed straight into the 5D Mark 3 with a Juicedlink box. Would to have loved to use an external recorder but that would have take up precious post production time synching audio.
Pure Gold. I am just learning an editor program. I hope to make some shorts as well. The story was creative and I enjoyed it from start to finish. Thank you!
I cant believe these people made it very hard to find this film. I first seen this in 2012 and all you had to do was put in cake into the search bar. Now its literally impossible to find it. Yet Netflix as a whole film (Georgia & Jinny) on this topic. not to mention all the other movies and shows. why target this one. I wanted to cry, because I hated to know that me supporting this film caused it to go incognito. I support this film whole heartily ( no pun tended) and hope this director gets more accolades, support and more prosperity. this film shows a black woman in all her feminine glory but deadly as hell. Horror and psychological thriller don't get no better than that! and all this achieved in under 10 min. This is way better than saw!!!!
Very nice little film...I almost dropped out of the audience in the first few minutes, it sounded kind of corny, but it sure pulled together mid-way and really worked.
Absolutely loved this! A Perfect 10/10, 1 New Subscriber & ThankYou Very Much.. The time that goes into these short films is mind boggling and I think your All fantastic and are Well Deserving of All the Praise/Compliments you receive.. ✌️👏🎥👍
That was really, really good! I started watching and could not stop until it was over! I will be on the look out for more to come. I am sure more will be coming soon!
Nice Job, good for you & your team. I love the story line, sweet. We shot in Alb,NM on a red & edited w/FCP7. Congratulations. Oh, our 48 HFP project was called "Baking Bad", "Team PH8", our line was "I see Stars", our genre was "Cop/Detective", & our prop was "Powdered Sugar". We have our "Best of Film" this weekend, July 28, in Q. We are in the best of finals for NM. Maybe we will see y'all at Filmapalosa in LA. Your star is a stone fox. Bring her, leave the cake behind. LOL
I was a big fan of FCP 7, but that of course requires lots of transcoding if you shoot with DSLRs. With FCP X I'm just not a fan, tried it for awhile and gave up. Too slow, sluggish, and still has to background render everything. Premiere is great, import footage, work with it natively in the timeline, no background rendering needed. Made the process so much faster than the old days. Yes, they made us down-convert it to SD.
Took a while to get it. The credits helped. Apparently she entertained 3 of Cherry's "indiscretions", but we only saw the one who came to the door. Seems she didn't expect her. Could make a sequel showing her finding more and more of his liaisons all over town. But I see this is old news now.
Thanks for the info - we shot both Mark II and Mark III this year - first time with either - we post on FCP, and we had major issues importing from the Mark III (some glitch that they need to patch). Does you local venue force you to dumb down your final submission to SD?
What format did you turn this in as? For some reason our city is saying it has to be 30 fps and in 720/480 (hngh)... did you have to tone down the quality to turn yours into them as well?
Realizing that you likely moved on by now, but I believe the implication is that her significant other was cheating on her based on how she called them "indiscretions".
Man, this was awesome. You realize how hard these are to make when you give it a go! Just finished my first 48 hour challenge. We drew the genre “Super Hero”. I wrote it Friday night. I directed and ran the main cam and cinematography on Saturday for 14 hours. However, I made the crazy awful mistake of starting the editing process at 8am on Sunday when it was due at 6. This was my first time shooting with a crew. We had 15! I normally make my own movies as a one man band. Here’s the result if anyone cares to take a look: ua-cam.com/video/VZ-FN9woZQQ/v-deo.html
I am the father of Sheryl Scott "Mary". I am so proud of you. You are amazing.
I know a woman named Sheryl Scott living in Boston, MA that bares a real resemblance to this woman. Are there any more Sheryl Scotts in the family?
Quite good. The Spider should get an Oscar.
Great short….Sherly Scott is amazing!!
Brilliant! Excellent actress. "It really is to die for."
Still one of my favorite short films i have ever seen
Fantastic! Beautiful cinematography and story, wonderful actress/narrator

Gotta love when they break that fourth wall!
Wow. This was a wonderfully crafted short film in its own right. The fact that the required elements were incorporated seamlessly and it was all done in 48 hours? BRAVO.
Very good!! I loved the story... True work or art...
This is my favorite one I've seen so far. I totally want to get into these sorts of things!
Great work!
The spider was enacted by herself! Good to know!
The ending musical score was quite nice, too.
Great Film! Shots were beautiful!!
I can see why it won. Great little film
Very nice! We just became fans of Sheryl Scott!

i like how this story was told.
Well done. Enjoyed the writing.
Very nice film.
And that's how magic works! You, people, are awesome, and this film of yours is a pure, brute piece of the finest gold! Thank you for that magic! :D
WOW what a art very nicely put together.
Love it! Nice job.

Wow... This was excellent! Thank you for sharing. ;-)
So budget friendly, five actors and kitchen supplies
Fiddle! I love it!
this is fabulous.
Wonderful!
Nothing like a good ole family recipe to take care of those occasional annoyances.
spider.......herself.
Great storyline, very different and unexpected. Beautifully filmed too. Well done :)
This was very wicked. Thank you!
THAT was delicious! Thank you for serving such a tasty short.
Great job!!! Such a clever narration and story. Plus you had a neat way of weaving all the required elements in the film.
nice writing, nice cinematography.
really good work, only thing that threw me off was that you can see cherry breathing at the end

It's films like this that inspire me to compete.
Crawly spidey was the first clue! Great film! And here in NC too!
this is legendary
Really loved this. Your work's amazing man. Wow, well done

Wheew 👍👍👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯💯💯🙌🙌❤
I've updated the description with some technical notes. Thanks.
am in between amazed and scared!

What sound equipment did you use? Awesome job! Thank you!
Pretty cool this one. :D
Wow.
Cake is my favorite. Hmmm...
Thanks for the info - we shot both Mark II and Mark III this year - first time with either - we post on FCP, and we had major issues importing from the Mark III (some glitch that they need to patch).
Does you local venue force you to dumb down your final submission to SD?
If you would be so kind... would you mind sharing what you shot this on - and what did you post it in?
Awesome!
Fabulous film. Let me know if you are entering in 2014!
Can you tell me what aspect ratio this was shot in
We totally have those same spiders in new zealand
where can I get the recipe?
I knew something was gonna happen when she said you're never know what's in the cake or something like that
What did you use for sound? External field recorder? Rhode NTG mics?
What format did you turn this in as? For some reason our city is saying it has to be 30 fps and in 720/480 (hngh)... did you have to tone down the quality to turn yours into them as well?
Soundtrack?
cruel genius
Great!
it wasnt a good idea to eat cake while watching this!
Some people dont like cake though. I would agree
sweet tattoo on the wrist
Why I'm I so scared right now........
To be honest this one was kinda funny
bake me a cake
I'm confused... Was there a reason she was killing those people?
Realizing that you likely moved on by now, but I believe the implication is that her significant other was cheating on her based on how she called them "indiscretions".
wtf its poisoned never mind i dont want the cake anymore
Cake to all the impure
damn
I was completely engaged but then when she went psychotic on me I wondered why in the world am I even watching this??
#omeleto
