keep in mind that knov, a veteran hunter, was so terrified by pouf’s aura that he had a mental breakdown and quit the mission altogether. pouf is the weakest of the royal guards. gon and killua just learned their nen abilities and faced off with the most powerful chimera ant besides the king himself and were still able to fight. gon was even able to muster up the strength to try and fight pitou, although it’s obvious he wouldn’t be able to defeat her, even with kite’s help.
