I have an unfitted kitchen, I prefer it over a fitted kitchen. I love the way your kitchen turned out after you moved it around., I had to do the same thing when I put put my kitchen together. You have a blessed week as well.
I had an unfitted kitchen for twenty years. We took out the prefab cabinets and I used "furniture" as cabinets because of how easy I could access everything. This year, we re-did the walls and ceiling. I decided to very carefully plan out the new made to fit cabinets so I would be able to reach things. I did love my unfitted kitchen, but I am also loving this updated one.
Sometimes a change is just what we need. God bless❤️

I have the vintage looking fridge that is thin. It’s very simple and you do have to defrost it every few months but it’s not a big deal. I have a very small kitchen and it looks so much better. I’ve had it for two and one half years now and it still works great.
I would have done an unfitted kitchen but we had solid wood cabinets. So we just painted them and look off some of the upper cabinets and replaced them with shelving my husband made. We also got a 1940s sink and my husband refinished it. It’s the best sink I’ve ever owned. I see so many cute old cabinets I would love to have put in my kitchen.

@@cottagetime3336 I think looked for about a year on Craigslist before I found one somebody just wanted out of their kitchen they were redoing. We do everything on a dime that’s for sure. Thank you for making such beautiful videos. God Bless

Your kitchen is lovely! I have a partially unfitted kitchen and would not go back to a fitted kitchen. As I’ve gotten older and my back and joints are not so great, many of my unfitted items are on casters. Soooo much easier to clean and if I can’t reach something on the back of a shelf, I just roll the whole shelf unit out so the “back” is the “front” for a sec! 😉

Yes, he is so patient. He said he doesn't mind helping me. He's great! Unfitted kitchen is when you have moveable cabinets and furniture like pie safes and hoosier cabinets. You can rearrange as you like. A fitted/modern kitchen is when the cabinets are attached to the wall and everything is stationary.

It's so charming❤. We are revitalizing our kitchen, new countertop and cleaning up the cabinets, not painting them. I wish I had the decorating skills you do. I have boxes and boxes of stuff to hang up but haven't put them up because I'm so bad at decorating.
I do long for the day when we can get new countertops. I just hang things where they feel nice to me...sometimes I ask shaun's opinion.😄 I would say go for it. Decorate and tweak it until it makes you happy. God bless & thank you
@@cottagetime3336 we wouldn't be doing it but had to because counter fell, now more in debt. Ugh. Still haven't finished it because when we opened the wall we found more issues, joys of a house built in 1900 or earlier.
Quote at 4:36 reminds me of what my grandma would say when we were in a big cleaning, cooking, or renovation project: "It's gotta get worse before it can get better!" 😂 Oh how right she was, we just need to push through the uncomfortable moments of seeing complete chaos!!

I don’t currently have an unfitted kitchen. In the past, I’ve had a “partially unfitted kitchen” if that makes any sense 😁. Also, I prefer the basket as it mixes up the mediums (bottles and ceramic- both forms of glass). 💕

I don’t have an unfitted kitchen but have made changes to it. I removed most of the cupboard doors, and the microwave, and put shelves in where it was at. Now I have more of an open kitchen concept where I can see my pretties. I love copper too and have some displayed but not all. I love how yours came together, it’s truly lovely❤️

For all of the chaos getting the corner cupboard in caused, the end result is absolutely beautiful! It was a perfect catalyst for change in your kitchen. I do love an unfitted kitchen. I think in many ways there are more functional than modern kitchens and allow the individual creativity to really shine. Thank you for sharing this experience. (My husband would not have been as patient as Shaun. lol)

Love the changes in your kitchen. I like the copper pieces scattered around. My kitchen is so small, there is no wall space for furniture. Three good sized windows instead. I wish I could have an unfitted kitchen.

Lol... it's where the baker's cabinet was, next to the stove. I found a fridge the perfect size so maybe we can put this big one in the pantry soon.😄

We are still working out what I want on the other side of the kitchen. We have the wall finished but still need to rip out the remains of the old kitchen...I hope real soon!😄

I’m interested in the unfitted kitchen but I can’t imagine how to work out the sink area.
I still have to work on my sink too.😄 I have a piece of furniture in mind that I want to hold my sink. I just need to find it. My idea is an old table with beautiful legs to hold a copper sink. Some people just go with a cast iron white sink. I think those are from the 1940-50s. It's a complete set with white cabinet holding it. I have seen someone use posts of fresh logs with wood counter. I hope all that makes sense. Wish i could show you pictures! The sink is pretty much the only part, unless you have a fireplace, that is immobile in the unfitted kitchen.
I’m sure you will get it worked out eventually. They used to make a metal one piece sink unit that had drain boards on each side. My Grandma had it in her kitchen. I would love to find one of those in good condition.
