So, you’ll appreciate that me taking a fence sitter approach on this is a cop out. I always view artists as favourably as I can, but I know I have many subscribers and viewers who watch for my positive reviews on Billie Eilish and Måneskin. It’s important to know that any personal opinion I give never calls the musical integrity or musicality of any artist into question, and I will never be making any “negative” or “constructive” comment on an artist’s skill. I feel the need to put this as both a disclaimer and a pre-prepared defence. 😂 Opinions welcome 🙂
Hello MTR and thank you for quoting me. If I could, I would subscribe twice to your channel now, after this reaction. Doesn’t matter that you don’t like this as much as you like the original, being the latter a song that you love completely. What matters and I appreciate much more is the unbiased opinion from a competent teacher like you, and yes if you said that Maneskin version is anyway a good product it is already important for me and for people who respects other’s opinion. Thank you for being this genuine, I will keep on following you more and more. P.s. a couple of years after Maneskin at X factor Italy, there was an Italian band at X factor Italy who didn’t have their same fortune, with a beautiful electronic hit . the name of the band is MELANCHOLIA and the song is LEON.. it deserves a reaction I think to their live at the auditions , we all thought they were gonna win X factor…
@@antvilla72 you’re very welcome! Thank you for watching my videos :) I see your name pop up often and it’s great! I didn’t realise that I mispronounced your name in the video so apologies for that. Thank you for your kind words :) Would love to check out your suggestions
I have to admit I heard Måneskin's version first. And tried Billy's original after. And I just didnt like the original. The difference is that both songs portray different emotions. And Måneskin's worked better for me emotionally
I know the original but I prefer this one. A lot! But that’s the way music works. Different and personal. It’s interesting for me to listen to another point of view. 👍🤟
I fell in love with this cover instantly and loved it even more so after hearing a full version high quality audio video which this performance was. After a week or so, l checked out the original and was astounded at the contrast. The two versions are galaxies apart! Her song is not a style l normally listen to but l do really appreciate her artistry and depth in her song without having musical depth, if that makes sense? And you're right, having heard Maneskins cover first, my preference stays with Maneskin. They have done some great covers and a couple l'm meh about and still prefer the original. Its their originals and Italian songs l love the most but this cover is right up there. I can totally understand your point of view and l appreciate your perspective and honest opinion. Its bloody refreshing, so thank you. And yes, how friggin awesome would it be to see them live. If we're ever lucky that Maneskin tours Australia one day, l'll move heaven and earth to make sure l am there.
I absolutely adore the original, it’s one of the most beautifully written and beautifully sung songs I’ve heard in a really long time but I fucking LOVE THIS!!!! I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched it now!!! They’re just so refreshing to watch!! Having said that I almost always gravitate towards rock over any other genre. I totally respect your opinion and see where you’re coming from. In my honest opinion it’s not really possible to compare them, they’re both great but both very different. The one thing I will say about Måneskin though is that they never simply cover a song, they reinvent it and they get huge respect from me for that! 🤘🏼🎸❤️
My humble opinion - was this cover launched with a high-production studio version and a kick-arse music video, it would be even more powerful than Billie’s
thank you 😊 Absolutely agree, definitely not a competition - I do recognise that it came across that way watching this back in the editing process. I do appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment 😊
I enjoyed your review, and don’t disagree with any of it. Damiano is a big fan of Billie, and has said he wants to meet her. He is clearly not comparing himself to her. Maneskin has a history of doing a lot of covers at concerts, I think not just to play familiar music, but also to experiment with different styles and genres. It is part of their growth as a band, and also to honor other music. They have covered this song multiple times at concerts. I think they would agree with you that their version is different, and very good, but not better.
I agree so much with your comment, they did the same with Harry Styles Kiwi and he's notoriously one of their favorite artists, I think if anyone asked them if they think their covers are better than the original they would say no cause they just want to pay respect to something they love, and have fun with it.
I agree with everything else, but if they really wanted to try different styles they wouldn't modify all the covers into their very distinctive style 😄 Not that there's anything wrong with doing that!
@@durabelle other than Damiano’s voice which is somewhat distinctive, I think they have the ability to sound completely different in some of their songs and covers, both live and in the studio. They remind me of Queen when I was young which had the same skill set. Much different than a band like AC/DC which though phenomenal, was recognizable by the second cord. They try to make the covers their own, but when you are doing Billie Eilish nearly back to back with The Killers, Let’s Get It Started and Beggin’ ,definitely trying a variety of stuff.
@@randolphh8005 They can definitely sound very different in different songs, don't get me wrong! Everything from rock to rap, pop to dancehall, some songs bordering on metal etc. But they've covered all of those genres with their own songs, whereas most covers end up sounding more rock than original versions. That's why I wouldn't say they do covers to experience different styles, although generally they've done lots of that too, especially in their early years. I'm sure they'd be capable of going much deeper into the different styles of artists they cover. I've seen clips of Damiano singing in various styles too (also in French and Spanish). But I don't think that's their motivation for playing covers. I'd guess they do it more out of appreciation for specific artists. Sometimes maybe to add more songs people could sing along to? After all they don't have that many English originals yet, although many of us fans are learning Italian to understand the others too 😁 And of course we have to remember they started on the streets performing covers, so they know what gets and holds people's attention.
No real confirmation bias here: first time hearing this song (and don't look at me as my daughter did when I mentioned I never listened to Billy Eilish before). I did now, though. For me: this rock version works as is, as I didn't know the original. Listening to the original I think I get what you mean: it is intriguing. The lyrics get more emphasis and it is haunting (as I interpret it anyway). To some extend they are totally different songs in my ears 😇 Don't apologize for your opinion. In the end it is all in the ear of the beholder... It is healthy to get your biases challenged, to be honest.
Thanks! Yeh the apologising was off the radar for this one because I know why people come to watch 😂 They are very different songs at the end of the day, and going through this in the editing process, the only thing I regret is not delving into this version more musically without putting my existing biases aside. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment😊
No need to talk about it for ages. It depends on your taste about music. I'm not so into electronic music but I love rock, so obviously I love Maneskin's cover, very good job here!! Anyone knows if Billie Eilish likes this version?
I like both, each one have different vibes and they put me in different mood. I appreciate your reaction precisely because of your sincerity. It's a relief. It's hard to find it in other reaction videos.
I appreciated your opinion, if we all had the same sensibilities the world would be very sad I love the Maneskins and I don't have a balanced opinion on their work - the piece is so great that I went to hear the original I found that great too, but different - two beautiful things at once - I can't ask for more
Not a big fan of billie but after the cover of MANESKIN i change my mind .The song is well written ...I like more the Cover of MANESKIN but I like even the original version of Billie .I M IN MORE MANESKIN mood these days .Maybe tomorrow i ll switch to the original version .
Yesss very very good point. They both give off such a different mood or feel. The hype and energy which Damiano and the rest of the band built with this was electric!
I respect your opinion, and i appreciate your honest reaction. I knew the original version of Billie and listening to the rock version of Maneskin, I must say that I honestly prefer it, because it releases strong emotions, which billie, on the contrary, tends to keep linear. So for me it is like : the difference between drinking water and sparkling water.
helloooo! you don't have to apologize, you are here to give YOUR opinion we all know maneskin is insanely good and we have to be able to listen to different opinions . i adore billie but not this song. i find the sound really innovative and certainly a beautiful piece of art but the maneskin version for me is so liberating i LOve love love this version. I appreciate your honesty i can tell that a lot of reactors are sometimes lying or being a little too.. laudatory just to make views . If you're honest , you CAN'T love everything that people ask you to watch! you can't love all the songs people pay you to watch.. that's the problem! so thank you! we all know that when you'll loooove the next reaction, it will be the truth ah ah !!
Thank you for your kind words! This version was truly electric and the energy built in that stadium would have been nothing short of amazing. I truly think If I was there live, the energy created would have made me think much differently. Billie's version is very very different and very compositional based, whereas Maneskin's is very focused on the performance
man you shouldn't apologize for liking the original more. That's subjective. We just want you to keep reacting to Maneskin. Perhaps For Your Love, the live performance on German Live1 GWR Radio? It's like the 10th time I ask you for that, I'll keep persisting until you do! Keep up with your fantastic work, your reactions are the best
I always appreciate your comments and explanations as it is very obvious how much you love music and try ( and brilliantly succeed) to make even more technical aspects approachable to us all. Don't apologize for your opinion or reaction, as your videos are always of a higher level! So keep it up....and I'm looking forward to your next Maneskin reaction 😉 (they will get launched in the US next week btw)
While I LOVE both artists, I have to agree with your "opinion", as it is truly what it is. An opinion. Music is art and art is subjective. That said, to me the original has that "something", that boldness in the production to do things that had never been done before that set it apart from most mainstream music these days. Compositionally, what Maneskin did was proficient, but not mind blowing. IMO. Definitely not as mind blowing as their original music, and I don't think they wanted it to be better. It was paying homage to an artist they value and respect, and that's the highest honor and truly what matters! I love the guitar solo, and frankly, Damiano is freaking hot as hell and his voice is incredible as always. I also know Billie would be beyond flattered and stoked that they did a cover of her song. ❤
I totally understand where you are coming from. I listened to Bury A Friend by Billie Eilish after I watched this reaction. I heard her sing it before, but it never really got me. I am not that much into her music but I can see her great talent and I like her voice. But I love Måneskins version way more because it is so different. It's Måneskin. But I would never be mad about you for sharing your opinion - I like your honesty.
Thank you! Måneskin makes it their own in their unique way! If you’re interested, I did do a musical breakdown on Billie’s Bury a Friend if you wanna check it out :)
@@TheMuserResolute I thought why not, would have liked to watch your reaction to the original. But I couldn't find it - not in your playlist and not in the video section. So I assumed it is blocked here in Germany.
@@TheMuserResolute Now I found it and I watched it - great analysis! But no wonder I didn't find it, I was looking for Billie Eilish and Bury A Friend in the title.
I think people will understand that you mean no disrespect, it's obvious you enjoy what they do and still appreciate this version in its own right. A song I think Måneskin completely elevated to another level is Amandoti, released originally as a somber ballad in 1990 by an Italian band called CCCP, if you haven't heard it I'd love to see you react to the Sanremo version they did with their mentor Manuel Agnelli, it's a truly unique almost theatrical experience
Thank you! I'll check it out. I'm a very very big fan of covers. Considering I don't know the original, hearing Maneskin's version first will most likely make me bias towards their one 😆 Either way, i'd love to hear it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 😊
I absolutely agree with what you said about AMANDOTI. @MTR this particular video is published on MELOX UA-cam channel which is managed by Enrico Melozzi, the name of the orchestra director that directed this live at SANREMO song contest in March 2021 , where Maneskin won with ZITTI E BUONI (and that gave them the possibility to participate at the Eurovision contest). Along with AMANDOTI cover, you will find ZITTI E BUONI performed with the orchestra and that was beautiful
I’m a Måneskin fan but I am totally agree with you, my favorite version is the original one… But I think Måneskin did a great job and made the song theirs. Please react to more Måneskin!
You are right, the original one is full of electronic effects. But the power of this version is in his trasformation in a rock n roll one. Better, do you remember 'The Clash'? i found something that remember me that vibe, don't you?
Look, there are way too many people on UA-cam that just praise everything that’s trending. Some honesty doesn’t hurt, really. It’s refreshing. For me, I love this version, although I get it that it doesn’t fit the theme very well. It’s just so good musically and so energetic! 😄
I am probably the last person on this planet, who didn't know an original song 🤣 ( I have listened the original after this cover) It's maybe because Billie Eilish is not my thing, even if she is an outstanding artist. I got your point, about original being very specific and cover may not match that sadness and darkness that Bille has, but I don't think that was Måneskin's goal. It's more like tribute. Musically, Måneskin's version is closer to my musical taste.
I didn't know this song until I heard Maneskin sing it..so I heard them first and then listened to hers. I think cause I heard their version first my ears preferred this version over the original..to me it was like this was the original so I was already going in liking thiers so it was hard to like hers more since they are so different..I wonder if I heard hers first would my opinion change 🤔
Yeh it's an interesting notion. I think it depends on what you're predisposed to liking first. If you're more into rock and are a big fan of Maneskin's music, this version breathes a lot of life into the song. Billie's can seem like it's lacking if listening to it afterwards. Possibly your opinion may have been the same, even if you heard hers first. But because i've actually studied Bury a Friend in depth before hearing Maneskin's, many aspects of the composition were imbedded in my mind as essential
I prefer the maneskin version .. (maybe because I'm more interested in the rock genre) but I can't say it's better than the original. ....greetings from switzerland...
Thanks for reacting with honesty. I have songs that no matter who might cover them, they'll never match the original. Your bias is deserved. Me, I think they performed it amazingly.
I think everyone have songs that can't be covered, we simply connect to much with the original. For me it's Creep from Radiohead for example. Keep the good job, we are here to listen to your opinions, even when we don't agree. For me, I'm not really into electronic sound and this version stands out more; I bet I have my own rock bias :)
Thanks so much for watching! Yes Creep is so heavily covered and it would be very frustrating to see all of them out there if you hold the original dear. I really appreciate you support!
@Alex Perotti oh yes competely agree. I wish they would leave Creep well alone. Leonard Cohen's Take This Waltz is also uncoverable. And on the other hand, Hallelujah's covers are mostly an improvement from the original 🥰
I can respect a cover version when I hear one (and I think it's interesting when artists do unexpected covers). But I do have to side with Billie's original version. The original holds a very special place in my heart, partly because of how it was put together, all elements of it from vocal performance to the emotional quality to the production and arrangement of the song - it means a lot to me for a very personal reason - her album got me through some really rough times when I felt life wasn't worth living. So, the cover by Måneskin while in itself entertaining doesn't intrigue me, musically or emotionally. I can see how someone who isn't into Billie's style might prefer Måneskin's approach though.
I think Damiano covered this because he connects to the original and rocks out to actually distance himself emotionally from it at the same time . I think Damiano is covering it for the friend he literally lost in “Coraline, Coraline” And I’m not qualified in any way to read his emotions- it’s just a gut hunch.
You shouldn't ever be put in a position where you feel that you have to apologise for your honest opinion about a song. I think I've seen most reactions to most Måneskin songs and I've come to your channel to listen to an analysis. Yours is impeccable and made me go back to the original and appreciate it even more than I originally did. Personally, I'm fed up with people pretending to love everything about something just to get the clicks without the potential backlash that may come from fans hearing their honest opinion. People clicking just to reinforce their confirmation bias are the plague of UA-cam. Thank you, and keep it going.
I love this rendition of this song, but basically because I don't feel close to Billie's songs at all. This said, I think i got your point of view. This song has a deeper meaning, deeper lyrics that probably Maneskin didn't get appropriately or wanted so much to make this song their "own" that forgot to pay a better tribute to Billie's job. Thanx for the honest reaction
Thank you for your honest reaction, very interesting 💛. I love Maneskin, but basically I agree with you. In my opinion what is missing in the cover is the sense of mystery, a little disturbing, of the original. When I first heard this cover, it seemed to me a little weird, like the lyrics didn't suit the music. However, I must admit that after hearing it 3 or 4 times, I have started to love it for energy, voice etc. They turned what was subtly disquieting into positive energy, so the song lost its mood. I think it will work if you don't think about Billy's version anymore.... Sorry for my bad English 🙃
I like both, because they are so different! I love the original, but I do prefer Måneskin's style and they made the song their own. I wouldn't call måneskin's better, but it's a good cover in my opinion. I definitely prefer the cover.
I think you can definitely feel comfortable, I don't think anyone can feel offended by that. I certainly don't ... even if I don't agree with you. In my opinion, especially in the first part, the meaning and the mood are still there, intact ... only rendered in another way. But what you feel about this cover, I have tried other times towards other covers that deviate from the originals that I love. So ... it's your honest opinion, which no one can argue about.
I don't think you should have given so many justifications about your opinion. The whole point of watching reactions, at least in my opinion, is to listen to what other people think. Art is up for interpretation, and each one of us feels different when listening to music, or watching a painting, or a sculpture. I prefer the Maneskin version, btw.
Thank you for your reaction and your honesty, I respect that much more than you praising Måneskin just to get more views and likes because they are super popular right now. I love Månesikin and I like their version of this song - but I am quite sure that if I were Billie's fan, I would prefer her version!
I agree with you, I also liked the original more. As you also said, both were good, just one has more interesting or surprising flicks that add to the song Loved the video as always and I’m really happy you uploaded today! I wasn’t feeling so great, but your videos are always a boost of positivity, thank you!
I agree with you the version of Billie has more dept and meaning. No need to apologize for saying what you think, I would think that honesty is a quality people appreciate.
It's okay, I appreciate your honest opinion and covers are really a difficult subject! I have some songs that I would never appreciate as covers too cause they are too close to my heart and I understand why they are originally done in a certain way, I don't like the cover of Vengo dalla luna done by Maneskin for example cause I love the original one too much and it sounds weird to me. I love how they did this one, the energy and the way they did this live, but I don't know the original so well so that's MY bias ❤️
I think you still satisfied my confirmation bias, l can't get past the original being so good, so emotive and this just falls flat for me, I see it as a tribute more than a cover.
you're very respectful i appreciate that! i love billie but because i'm more inclined to rock måneskin's version absolutely works for me too!! i think you'd enjoy a song called phobia by nothing but thieves!! it has bury a friend vibes with some marilyn manson and qotsa on the side 🔥
I totally agree with you. As I wrote under another reaction video to this version, the original one is perfect the way it is. Very dark, intriguing. But nothing to be taken away from Måneskin's rendition since they did a very good job. Covers ain't easy and they obviously rearranged it in their own genre, that's what they were supposed to do. There isn't a recorded version so I assume is going to be performed live only and it sounds great this way. Again, the original still the best version in my opinion but props to our beloved Måneskin for making a cool live Rock version 🤟🎶 Cheers from Italy!
The song itself is good, but I like MA's version because it has this edge, the palpable desperation. It's not the monster from under the bed having an identity crisis as in Billie's version, MA has made it more real. But of course, music is very subjective and to each its own.
Hey MTR .. I 💯 agree & what I appreciate about ya, is your feedback / insights are always honest. This should be the standard on YT, but unfortunately it’s not as fandoms look for validation vs feedback! THX & cya soon! ✌️♥️
No need to apologize. I prefer a rock version like this but because I’m a metal/rock fan. It’s pretty obvious this cover has a totally different vibes than Eilish’s one
It was like Sid Vicious covering My Way by "uncle" Frank. I like the punk version of My Way. Of course it's a little bit shocking. Anyway, I found billie's version deeper and more appropriate. And I heard it later than the Maneskin version! So, I agree with you. Rock and Roll never dies! 🤟🏻
I respect you opinion and i agree with you. I m a maneskin fun and i love a lot the original one too but I definatelly prefer the last one . Both versions are very good and make different vibes, every person can have different tast, but what you should appracciate anyway that a a band took a song and give a completely a new life and a new different vibe from a dark and horror vibe in a party song. This way to cover a song it makes sense . Some artist instead try to imitate the original version so it becomes a Karaoke competition and i hate that
you put this perfectly, it makes alot of sense, are you planning on reacting to billie's album? if so, please react to it in order!! it really helps with the experience I feel like, and billie said it herself
I really love doing analyses because first time reactions mean I can't get all the musical intricacies like I can with multiple listenings - That being said, the jury is still out on whether i'll be doing reactions or not to every song on the album (as I would like to look at it from more of an analytical perspective). What's for certain though is I will be delving into her new album and sharing it on my channel
It is so refreshing to see something else than a praise reaction for Måneskin, conveyed in a respectful and constructive way, and I say that as a big Måneskin fan. So thank you for your honesty. I didn't know the song before this cover but listened to it after I heard the Paris concert. I have to say I don't really like the song in itself from either of them, but I prefer Måneskin's flavour of darkness over Billie's. (My bias.) Also in general, not just in this song. Perhaps they interpreted the lyrics differently from the original meaning and spun into quite a different direction because of that. I think the text can be seen as very many different things, if you don't know - or choose to ignore - the given explanation behind it.
I'll admit, I wanted you to love it unconditionally. But right now, after reading all the comments on The Voice's Facebook page about their appearance the other night, I'm happy you at least like it even if not nearly as much as Billie's. LOL!
honestly...what do you expect to hear in your perfect cover of Bury A Friend? A copy and paste work? This is Maneskin's own version and works better for me because I like rock..they've been very brave in re-doing such an original song. Most covers of this bands are just excellent...probably I slightly prefer the original Beggin from the 4 Seasons (better still than Madcom's) and Back to Black, but still Maneskin's version tops all the other version I've heard so far (the few who dared to touch one of Amy's best songs).
I'm a Maneskin fan but i really like the way you analyzing everything, without superficiality.I love B.I. and I know very well this song, which I like a lot and in any case me too prefer her version. Ciao 🇮🇹
I don't agree with you. I thing this cover is great. Thanks to it , now, I love Billie Eilish as well, and I appreciate his musician, fantastic brother. This is the same case to Billie Jean cover by Chris Cornell. The big Chris changed Michael Jackson in a superb slow version. Måneskin, on the contrary, give a superb rock version of Bury a friend.
Please react to Billies new album/songs. Getting Older sets the tone which discusses an abusive relationship. Happier than ever shows her dealing with that anger. It is the only considered "rock song" but is brilliantly placed on the album. Getting Older and NDA are my favorites, but it really depends on the day. Listening to it from start to finish will give you a new perspective.
I'm a metal fan through and through but I will admit to having somewhat of a guilty pleasure when it comes to Billie Eilish, only a few songs though. This cover is interesting as they've completely taken it and made it their own, but for me, the original is superior. It's my favourite of her songs and I don't think anyone else could make it better than her.
I have to confess I don't like covers much, because often they fail to create added value to the song. But then there are some covers that really open the original song up for me. For example Prince's When Doves Cry. Me no likey the original at all. Then this guy called Tchello Palma makes an acoustic cover which I hear on the night radio and I notice how great the song itself is, I just didn't like the original arrangement. Nightwish did a great job with Pink Floyd's High Hopes. And I can't get over how good Miley Cyrus' version of Heart of Glass is, what a perfect update of that song to 2021! Another recent one I enjoyed a lot was Under Pressure by Karen O and Willie Nelson, a whole new vibe to the original. With covers, one needs to completely change the vibe or lift the melody, or take an oldie and update it. That's whete the best chances of success 🤪 although satisfaction not guaranteed. And then there's ofcourse Weird Al Yankovic 😆 I like Hot Rocks Polka more than any Rolling Stones original 😂
I appreciated very much your honest reaction and I mostly agree with you in this case (even cause I don't know so deeply Billie's other works). At this point I'd appeciate a reaction to Maneskin cover of Amy Winehouse "Back to black". We*'d love it !!! And I'd like to know your opinion about "covers" : they should be "faithfull" to the original or offer a "different" point of view (meaningly, stylistically, emotionally)??? * We of M.A.C.C Maneskin Addicted Crazy Club🙃
I don't see the need to compare and decide which one is better. Maneskin version is so different that the feeling is totally different, but it works. This rock/punk version is very much Maneskin and I like that. Billie's version is so good and musically more interesting, but Maneskin take has a raw quality that makes the text sink in differently, not in a better way, just differently. If Maneskin version would have been close to Billie's version, I might have been thinking which one is better,. But it's more fun to see someone take the song and set their mark on it, after all it's not possible to do better Billie Eilish than Billie.
Not everything should be compared - certain things have a right to exist in their own right. "Zero-sum game" shouldn't be a part of the artistic world and, in my personal opinion, such apporach is decreasing the entire value of feelings, mood and imagination. I definately can accept ,that some people would like or unlike one of the versions, but some , like me, will enjoy both.
Yay, a slightly negative opinion of a Måneskin cover! This is something I've waited to see, as it actually fulfills my confirmation bias much better than a hundred purely positive reactions ever can. Not everything has to be a total hit with everyone, and by being honest with this one we csn believe you when you praise some of their other songs. So thank you! I had heard this one only once before, and don't know the original (yet! Sounds like I will soon.) I just generally like their own songs more than covers. They've done lots of good covers though, and I think it's always interesting to know what they like and appreciate enough to make a cover of, but I rarely need to hear those twice. Their covers for Kiss this in X-factor and Pyro live in Modena I've seen more than once, but first one is purely for the entertaining performance and second one because of the way Damiano sings it. And Beggin' of course has been all over the place, up to the point that many people forget it's a cover.
Thanks so much!! Yeh it's tricky with covers, and even though the original for Beggin' is quite a lot older, i'm not as familiar with it (so hearing their version was like an original for me) - as you said, many forget it's a cover. I'm so keen to hear more of Måneskin's original stuff (but I do love hearing covers too - i'm actually a big fan of covers). As always, thank you so much for your support :)
They actually used Beggin' a few weeks ago on Strictly Come Dancing on BBC and named Måneskin on the UA-cam video title, although the song is actually performed by the show's own band. Made me wonder if Måneskin really changed the song enough to earn the credits or if they just named them to get more viewers (somehow I suspect the latter). Of course many others have covered the song too in these past few months and called them Måneskin covers, but when a big show does it it feels more important 😀 Talking about covers one of my favourite things in UA-cam was Gotye composing a new song by using all the different Somebody That I Used To Know covers he found. (And there were many at that time!)
OMG I need to see this! Link please!!! Somebody That I Used To Know is one that I want to do a big MCNY analysis on sometime soon hopefully - but I need to approach it in a gripping way.
P.s. a couple of years after Maneskin at X factor Italy, there was an Italian band at X factor Italy who didn’t have their same fortune, with a beautiful electronic hit . the name of the band is MELANCHOLIA and the song is LEON.. it deserves a reaction I think to their live at the auditions , we all thought they were gonna win X factor…
yeah, its very different from the original, but i like that! I adore both billie and maneskin, and both versions are amazing, but i think i also like more the original, if i had to choose, just cause its original and its made to be in billie's style, but both are amazing! 🥰
This song reminds me of Marilyn Manson's cover of "Sweet Dreams". It's not bad, but it just doesn't *feel* right for the original lyrics. I like the creepy feel of the original Billie Eilish version, and though there are bands I think could maintain that feel and still make it their own, this just doesn't do it for me. I DO kind of want to see them cover "Bad Guy", though, because I feel like their energy might work out well with the original lyrics!
Opinions welcome 🙂
Hello MTR and thank you for quoting me.
If I could, I would subscribe twice to your channel now, after this reaction. Doesn’t matter that you don’t like this as much as you like the original, being the latter a song that you love completely.
What matters and I appreciate much more is the unbiased opinion from a competent teacher like you, and yes if you said that Maneskin version is anyway a good product it is already important for me and for people who respects other’s opinion.
Thank you for being this genuine, I will keep on following you more and more.

@@antvilla72 you’re very welcome! Thank you for watching my videos :) I see your name pop up often and it’s great! I didn’t realise that I mispronounced your name in the video so apologies for that. Thank you for your kind words :)
Would love to check out your suggestions
@@TheMuserResolute don’t worry about misspelling my name , everybody call me Antonio actually
you don't always have to pamper us, every now and then you can say what you really think. is appreciable 👍☺️
It isn't difficult: it's different. The fact that many of us now love Billie is a fact. Thanks to Måneskin.
Key words, as you said: "the whole thing is very Måneskin". End of story, it's a cover, they made it their own.
Definitely :)
Same here 🥰
I fell in love with this cover instantly and loved it even more so after hearing a full version high quality audio video which this performance was.
Omg I’d die if they came to Australia (after I see them of course, so my life would be complete beforehand 😆)
It's Maneskin's version, it's not a competition to original version, but I respect your opinion.
thank you 😊 Absolutely agree, definitely not a competition - I do recognise that it came across that way watching this back in the editing process.
Definitely! I can see how humble Damiano and Maneskin are.
To some extend they are totally different songs in my ears 😇
Don't apologize for your opinion.
Thank you 😊
I appreciated your opinion, if we all had the same sensibilities the world would be very sad
I love the Maneskins and I don't have a balanced opinion on their work - the piece is so great that I went to hear the original
I found that great too, but different - two beautiful things at once - I can't ask for more
Not a big fan of billie but after the cover of MANESKIN i change my mind .The song is well written ...I like more the Cover of MANESKIN but I like even the original version of Billie .I M IN MORE MANESKIN mood these days .Maybe tomorrow i ll switch to the original version .
Yesss very very good point. They both give off such a different mood or feel. The hype and energy which Damiano and the rest of the band built with this was electric!
I just live this cover. It gives me so much energy ❤❤❤
Soooo much energy! Imagine being in the audience. Once could only dream! Thank you for watching
I agree. I'm a Måneskin fan, I like their cover, but i must admit that the original is something else. Thanks for your honest reaction!
They just made it rock n' roll, nobody does it these days I prefer this! obviously it was gonna be different. the maneskin touch
I prefer this one. Billy loves the cover. They have photos together. She is a fan. They also love her.
Maneskin again, again, and again. Without a doubt a fantastic band. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for your kindness 😊 I love how successful they’ve become - they truly deserve it
While I LOVE both artists, I have to agree with your "opinion", as it is truly what it is. ❤
I love Måneskin’s version ! For me it is light years better then the original 🤟❤️🔥
I respect your opinion, but i think this version Is better than original 💘🤘🔥
honest reaction. this cover is only for live and i love it
I totally understand where you are coming from.
@@schuhschrank947 ohh no. It’s one I just released (it’s a pre prepared analysis). It’s on my MCNY playlist
@@TheMuserResolute Now I found it and I watched it - great analysis!
But no wonder I didn't find it, I was looking for Billie Eilish and Bury A Friend in the title.
@@TheMuserResolute Do you know the cover of Bury A Friend by The Bass Gang? Here is the link ua-cam.com/video/I5dN9wpYvvM/v-deo.html
@@TheMuserResolute read my previous comment please
Yes!! The energy is electrifying. I think if I were in the audience, my preconceived notions would have completely disappeared!
I love so much this cover😍😍
More than original song
I prefer the maneskin version .. (maybe because I'm more interested in the rock genre) but I can't say it's better than the original. ....greetings from switzerland...
Non sono fan di Billy ma amo la versione Maneskin e la preferisco
Omg, this is the first time l have read a comment in Italian and understood everything that was said. Progress!
Your English is perfect! Thanks for your comment. I must admit, this started growing on me when I heard it over and over during the editing process!!
Agree!! Thank you for taking your time to watch and comment 😊
It isn't difficult. It's different. Måneskin huge
As you also said, both were good, just one has more interesting or surprising flicks that add to the song
Loved the video as always and I’m really happy you uploaded today! I wasn’t feeling so great, but your videos are always a boost of positivity, thank you!
Awww you’re so welcome. Im glad you’re feeling a bit better! I hope that mood continues throughout the day 🙂
I agree with you the version of Billie has more dept and meaning.
The energy was incredible!! I think being there would have taken this to another level.
I totally agree with you, I am a fierce fan of Maneskin, but this song is much better in the original version, by Billie Eilish
I think you still satisfied my confirmation bias, l can't get past the original being so good, so emotive and this just falls flat for me, I see it as a tribute more than a cover.
Definitely a tribute :)
one thing is clear Maneskin are the masters at the cover check out Begin a, an old song by a group called The Four Seasons that made it their own song
They make another song but in my opinion at another level! Definitely love this version more than the original one! ❤️
you're very respectful i appreciate that! i love billie but because i'm more inclined to rock måneskin's version absolutely works for me too!! i think you'd enjoy a song called phobia by nothing but thieves!! it has bury a friend vibes with some marilyn manson and qotsa on the side 🔥
Maneskin forever
Maneskin 😍🤘🖤🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥, Billie E.🥰🖤🖤🖤🖤😃.
Don't apologise! You are honest and not just saying what people want u to! Good on you!
Thank you 😊
The song itself is good, but I like MA's version because it has this edge, the palpable desperation. It's not the monster from under the bed having an identity crisis as in Billie's version, MA has made it more real. But of course, music is very subjective and to each its own.
I love your honesty.
Maneskin made the best cover, better than original
Hey MTR .. I 💯 agree & what I appreciate about ya, is your feedback / insights are always honest. This should be the standard on YT, but unfortunately it’s not as fandoms look for validation vs feedback! THX & cya soon! ✌️♥️
Thanks as always. 😊
No need to apologize. I prefer a rock version like this but because I’m a metal/rock fan. It’s pretty obvious this cover has a totally different vibes than Eilish’s one
They are very different and both very good...Billie Eilish is the favorite young singer of Damiano... 👍👍👍
Totally agree with you and I do love Måneskin! 😉😅
🤟🏻
It's just the Maneskin effect, they make everything their own, and it's sometimes much better than the original, that's it
I respect you opinion and i agree with you.
LOL!
they would such a great song if they did this in studio and not live its giving me goosebumps even thinking
honestly...what do you expect to hear in your perfect cover of Bury A Friend?
I do not like Billie Eilish at all so I prefer the Måneskin version 😂 appreciate your honesty tho!
Somehow I think with these guys' skill set they could have done much better with a little more vision, balls and darkness. I love the original too.
I do love both songs. But Billie's version doesn't work without all that sound effects, so it isn't real song, it is musical product.
Bella reazione! sincera 😉👍
They have embellished it 🤟❤️🇮🇹
I have to confess I don't like covers much, because often they fail to create added value to the song.

I don't think it necessary to compare it to the original. just enjoy both for what they are
I don't see the need to compare and decide which one is better.
This is a great point!
Your honest opinion here, give value to your opinion in general.
Good job
Thank you 😊
Nah your oppinion is valid, I see what you mean just that I feel like they did this more for fun and as they said, it's for Billie!
Wouldn’t it be better if you expressed your opinion on this cover at the end of the performance rather than after 30 seconds?
Of course many others have covered the song too in these past few months and called them Måneskin covers, but when a big show does it it feels more important 😀
Talking about covers one of my favourite things in UA-cam was Gotye composing a new song by using all the different Somebody That I Used To Know covers he found. (And there were many at that time!)
OMG I need to see this! Link please!!! Somebody That I Used To Know is one that I want to do a big MCNY analysis on sometime soon hopefully - but I need to approach it in a gripping way.

Thank you 😊
P.s. a couple of years after Maneskin at X factor Italy, there was an Italian band at X factor Italy who didn’t have their same fortune, with a beautiful electronic hit . the name of the band is MELANCHOLIA and the song is LEON.. it deserves a reaction I think to their live at the auditions , we all thought they were gonna win X factor…
yeah, its very different from the original, but i like that! I adore both billie and maneskin, and both versions are amazing, but i think i also like more the original, if i had to choose, just cause its original and its made to be in billie's style, but both are amazing! 🥰
yeah and also because the original sound effects are lost and they're quite important 🥰
but i think maneskin's goal wasnt to improve it, they just liked the song
I really appreciate your integrity.
Oh, and I come here because your ear and knowledge gives me a different insight into music I am interested in.
It is clear what you mean, great reaction but a cover works well if it is customized by the artist/band.
