I randomly came across this channel recently. My father passed away nearly two years ago and he was a commercial diver. He would tell me many stories of his divivig experences, non of which I could relate to but they were very interesting. He had seen it all, came close to death many times but he love his job. It's like another world down there. It takes a ceritn type of individual to venture into the deep and miss listening to my dad's stories so I decided to subscribe to this channel. Thanks for making this channel as it gives me a way to somehow continue to appreciate the unique experences divers have. I can't explain how much I wish I could spend just one more day with my father, so many questions I still have regarding diving. Thank you for the opportunity to subscribe.

I want to know the story of Gus and Woody. How you met and how and why you became a team. I'm amazed sometimes at how well Gus takes Woody's teasing. I've been watching for a while and almost caught up and I knew that Woody wasn't going to let Gus's success go by without his getting this done too.

It was worth watching, especially Gus' gift to Woody at the end of his DPV certification, that was a special and heartfelt moment, my hats off to you gents.
Woody: “let me give a brief explanation. We sucked” had me dead 😂 but it goes to show this stuff really is important and the training makes all the difference

I really liked that figurine portion at the end. That was super sentimental gesture Gus! It's clear you guys are more than just friends for show. And man Woody! You have an excellent way of communicating your appreciation dude! I'm not very good at expressing myself like that but I would like to be. I learned more about supporting the people around me from this video than I did about diving. Thank you guys for sharing your experiences 🤘

Congratulations to you both , awesome job ! As an open circuit nitrox diver , at the age of 54 , I doubt that I’ll ever even get a cave certification. But I can dive vicariously through you guys so thank you.
I don't know what is up with you two; I am not even a diver I barely swim once in a blue moon, but I sat and I watched this whole certification story. :)

Congrats guys this was your best video ever, I am so excited and nervous at the same time... because I am getting myself ready to start doing my cavern, intro and full cave training this year with Cave Adventurers... I am first finishing my sidemount training, to then start a new chapter in my life I know it's not going to be easy but hopefully it will be as rewarding as your experience.
Gus your story about the catastrophic failure& you eventually passing is an excellent one& congrats mate👏👏👏

Congratulations to both of you! I've just watched more than an hour of two guys talking about cave diving and I loved it, and I'm not even a diver. That is a fantastic achievement when it comes to story telling. I would love to watch some of the footage from the training/certification and I hope you will post some of it in the near future. One of the many, many reasons I love your channel is the way you present yourself. Humble, honest. Had a very humbling experience myself a few weeks ago too when I did two intro dives with two types of rebreathers. The first dive was sooooooo extremely bad....! I felt like a new diver, even though I have been diving for 14 years.... You guys talked about the theory on your channel so many times already, with the counterlung, your own lung and how it affects (or better said how your breathing does NOT affect bouyancy while diving with a ccr) bouyancy. I crawled across the floor all the time on my first dive and learnt that I had always been correcting my bouyancy with my own lungs ALLLLLLL the time....! I felt so bad that I told both the instructor (who will also be my cave instructor end 2022, or beginning 2023) and my dive buddy that I would not do the second dive. I felt like I was holding them back too much. Ultimately they both convinced me to do my second ccr dive and that dive went smooth as butter and I greatly enjoyed it. This is one pf the many things I am thankful for to you and your channel. Before I got to know your channel I was merely interested in seeing the fish under water. Now I still am, but now learning so many (technical) skills and truly improving my skills and diving proficiency! It's an awesome experience and feeling and want to thank you (again!) for this inspiration!!!! Safe diving, happy new year and looking forward to all your new adventures in 2022 and beyond! 🍌🐙👽👌

What an amazing channel this is, the content, the hosting, the honesty, the humbleness, and the willingness to educate and inspire are incredible. Like many of the viewers here, I cannot keep myself from binge-watching these videos, and the podcasts on Spotify. I almost never comment on youtube but I couldn't keep myself from expressing the gratitude I feel towards you two, and people like you. This video regarding the dpv classes simply encompasses what this channel is about (in my opinion), the other videos are great, very entertaining, and educational, but this one stands out in a way. The hour and 14 minutes flew by and the genuine and honest narration (on top of the amazing stories) had me glued to the screen. Keep on being you Gus and Woody, your personalities are golden, and infectious in the best of ways. Thank you.

Great stories guys, I listened to every word, even backed up if I missed something. I felt like I was there going through the training. Thanks for not cutting it. When I saw it was over an hour, I was like wow, ok, here we go, but I loved every minute of it. At any rate, I almost shed a tear when Woody told the story of Edd telling him he was proud of him. Wow, you guys really have my respect for knowing what you want in life and going for it and not giving up. I 100% agree, most things in life that are truly rewarding are sometimes the most difficult to achieve. If it was easy, anyone could do it. Also, that diving model of Woody is just amazing, well done Gus.

you guys are awesome. love your videos and honesty. I have a few dive cards and I still get nervous when I take a new class. That's a good thing in my opinion, means you are taking it seriously. I've been diving a few years (20) and still get butterflies when I dive for the first time if it's been a while since my last dive. Anyways, thanks for the great stories.

I was remembering i had a dive buddy like you two.
Sadly I had to quit diving due health problems in the early 90s after >1000 logged dives.
1:13:58 I couldn't watch or talk diving stuff for decades because it hurt so much.
Stumbeling over your channel changed that and i enjoy every minute watching your videos.

100% agree that Cave DPV is one of the toughest certifications out there. But also so damn rewarding. Thank you for sharing, it's easy to critique others, but the fact that you're "reacting" to your own struggles too is admirable.

This was such a great video! Super long but worth it. As a newer diver I can relate (to a much lesser extent) to working towards the new certs and the emotions you were probably feelings. You guys are killing me. I lived in Miami for 4 years, bought new equipment, worked all the time and never went diving. Lived in Gainesville FL for six years, some before Miami and some after only went diving a couple times - Devils Den, Blue Grotto, Wreck in Key Largo, Spiegel Grove. Now I live in Oregon and all I want to do is get back to the FL - GA area and dive with you guys. LOL Keep up the good work.
