We sat down with Atlanta's own Larkin Poe for "5 Questions with Marlena". They performed at the Cobb Energy Centre in Atlanta on 10/18 with Elvis Costello.
I saw them just last night in SF and what a great performance they gave. Great energy and ability, great material, great band .. impressed what they were able to do with a 4 piece band. As an older classic rock/blues musician the way they mine and tweak classic roots blues is very encouraging for the future. I haven’t been this excited by ‘new to me’ artists since Gary Clark Jr popped up. Also, i feel lucky to have seen them in a small club venue, I dont think they’ll be that accessible for long. Carry on LP!
LP is a great band as you said! If you like them, check out Beth Hart, Danielle Nicole, and Kara Grainger. You may even be interested in Christone Kingfish Ingram. They are all great, young blues artists. You may already know them, but if you don't, you should enjoy them as much as LP.
Rebecca is the world's greatest living singer. I am glad Megan "won" that round, so now she can focus on literally melting that guitar. I love them both so much.
It really is a perfect arrangement. They’re an unreal band that go so far under the radar, but might well be the best we’ve got right now at what they do. Just so so so so so so so so good
A big part of the reason why Larkin Poe is so excellent is because of the music they listen to and their appreciation of it. Megan impresses me with her interest in classic rock and especially Pink Floyd and David Gilmour. With those influences, Larkin Poe can only be better and even more inspired. Saw them perform live not to long ago and really loved their performance. Met them after the show and found them to be very cool people.
You Guys are so cool, I love your music, You guys are always in my jams list, and if ya like trail mix try, The brand is called powers western trail mix, And the mix name is bandito mix, ??? It's all I eat for trail mix !
I see Rebecca as hot red and Megan as a very deep blue when they perform. Who knows when they're not on stage, and they're in comfortable surroundings.
