Another terrificly informative review - thanks Coleton. Cemented my feeling that there is almost no cross-shopping between many of these electric trucks. I see such minimal overlap between the Silverado and Rivian, and few buyers comparing Silverado to Cybertruck. This Silverado will be cross shopped to the F150 Lightning, but even with these two there are distinct differences. Bottom line is that it's great to see where the manufacturers are prioritizing spending money to target their audience, and just wish the mass market reviews would understand that interior quality or certain engineering is expensive. More variety, more choice, more options is only good.
This is true. The fact that the fleet version (WT work truck trims) were available months before the consumer version tells me that their priority was making a work truck for companies that want to switch their fleets to electric. Which means that a durable work truck interior was more important to them than soft touch everywhere.
I agree with Coleton, I would like to have this Silverado without the mid gate. I don't need it and don't need to spend money on a huge option I'll never need.
I would recommend changing the terminology used in these videos tbh. tolerances are typically ranges set by the manufacturer with coordination with suppliers which the parts or assembly must fit within, but it's being incorrectly used in your videos. More appropriate words for your reviews would be "Flush" and "gap," each which have their own tolerances depending on the area of the vehicle or part(s) being referenced. Flushness in and out from two surfaces with tangency being 0 and + - being flush or sub-flush as the baseline then the tolerance is the range it can be output of that volume in one direction, both, or bias to only one side. Gap being self-explanatory with a similar tolerance theory to flushness. You don't know the engineering behind the specific areas, what challenges they ran into during development, so you really can't know the tolerance ranges set for those areas, outside of guessing based on other OEMs (unless you happen to have the GD&T or dimesional target documention from the applicable OEM). Just my opinion here, but I do think some of the audience would appreciate revising the phrases used. Best of luck, keep the videos coming!
I can hear my late father saying "you should have your head examined", if I were to say I am considering purchasing one of these at its price point. I'll stick to my 2014 Silverado 1500.
Honestly they wish they made the all Glass roof optional, as I don’t know a single truck person who wants or has asked for that. And I wish they would offer that mid gate on the gas or at least hybrid models.
Ty Colton, nice and detailed review, I enjoyed it. IMHO I can not justify the cost of it, although I like It. But I like My CT much better with all the tech and feel and all what it brings at a better cost then the Silverado EV.
I spent 4 days in a Turo rental of this truck. I absolutely hated it. It was so loud, ride was quite stiff and it you really felt every pound it weighs. Never even tried the mid-gate. I like to keep my cargo separated from the cabin. Don't like driving down the freeway with a big opening. I wanted to like it, the range and charging speeds are top notch. Everything else on the truck was just OK. I've drive all of the EV pickups now for several days and I think I'm going with the Cybertruck especially if I can pull one for under 80K
Great review, but I hate the Evalance reference. So, it has sails and a midgate? Do two features make it an Avalance? The Avalanche was smaller, it's discontinued. Silverado is a better description of size and use. Also, the charge port on the rear is awful when towing.
I’m glad the initial build quality is high. I bought a new $25K Chevy Trax and the interior of this is comparable. However, it is a Chevy and if you want something more luxurious and less utilitarian, GM has other equivalent vehicles it can sell you.
You don't know what your talking about. Learn the EV or ICE Vehicle before taking digs at something you know nothing about... ;-( Chevy is the value brand. You want leather move up 3, 4, 5K to Buick and GMC.. This is press EV and you don't know who abused the ride before... ..... ;-( This get sidewinder too

GM's interiors especially in trucks GM wants durability above all else. Even if they feel cheap. Now this is just my opinion.

Hard plastics are not durable. They immediately scuff and look like crap.

Not sure how you do it, but once again I was glued to the screen from Start-Finish. Thanks for the review.
You also get crab walk called Sidewinder in the Chevy
I disagree about the mid gate. Definitely a number one selling feature and the main reason why I want one.

The Mid gate is an option in the LT.

Apparently that big gap in the back is causing water to leak into the lights!

Most Americans are driving around alone in their trucks..that’s why the volume knob is positioned more close to the driver.
Roll up tonneau covers aren't the most secure but id argue they are the easiest day to day to use
Pressing a button sure is hard to use!
@OutofSpecDetailing Fair point. Though...right until they break or lock up......which is all too common
I don’t disageee!

No CarPlay, no sale. There’s a minimal cost to implement it. No car software is better or more flexible.
I don’t like that tailgate as I tow a travel trailer and it seems to block the hitch and so it may get damaged when towing!
"Yo dude did you see the tolerances in the new Silverado???", said no guy with a Silverado ever lol.
Says the guy who clicked on the video 😏

Too fancy for me in the truck space. Interior plastics dont bother me. Give me some damn tire with that wheel. Eh this isn't aimed at me.
Don’t like the rear seat area. Need a flat floor for my dog to travel with us
I think everything is perfect, except that avalanche back-end look.

The midgate is really easy when you have an extra Helping Hand😅
First!!!!
Not big enough
