Why is it that a third party had create an app that we’ve all been wanting for years now?
the long and the short of it Microsoft does not want to release official “Xbox” products (a free app counts as this) for a device that isn’t a Windows PC or a native Xbox. They are happy to sell games on steam as it is a no-brainer revenue-wise but they will only support Windows handhelds with native Xbox/Cloud offerings
Here, capitalism is both the problem and the solution.
This just works flawlessly! Of course you can go the more manual route, but for me, the ease of use is worth the small cost. Thank you for show casing this!

im hoping with all the news recently about Xbox and what they will be doing with games that an official easy access app for game pass on steam deck is in the works at least I agree its nuts it doesn't already exist surely it cant be that difficult or time consuming to make for potentially alot of profit?
Thanks for sharing. I recently used the workaround approach, which worked until the app updated. Sure, I could just go through the process again to get it working, but this seems like a much simpler, plug and play solution. Will give it a go.
Holy crap this is a god send. I was struggling for hours today trying to get cloud gaming to work on my brand new oled SD, and I couldn’t get it to work. Tried your video, the Microsoft site. Maybe I’m just an idiot 😂. I’ll have to test this tomorrow.
This may cost 6 bucks but its the easiest way with the least work. So far for me it “ just works “.

Is it really? I'm considering to get it because greenlight feels like 720p or lower to me while chiaki definitely feels sharper for my ps5

Rest mode is 15W. That is a ton of energy for rest mode . PS5 is like 1W.

I’m using this exact app, I can ONLY use Remote play when I’m on the SAME network. I cannot Remote play when I’m out of my home network.

Just to be clear, can I remote play on my steam deck without having my Xbox on and even while on the road somewhere as long as WiFi is stable ?
I need to test the xbplay app on steamos away from my home network to be sure. I will do that today when I get home. You can also remote play your Xbox with your phone, tablet or windows pc with official approval that will work on any network for sure. Your Xbox at home needs to be set for remote play in the settings. I have had times away from home where it was working great on my laptop then all the sudden Xbox doesn’t wanna connect anymore. Rare but happens. The xbox turns itself on and off for remote play. Also remember theres no “ official “ support on Steamos for Xbox remote play so this all hinges on things continuing to work lol. Just like alot other Deck stuff.

No. Remote play wouldn’t wprk as u need a console for that. But the cloud part works fine just like browser or anything else

Theres no “ free tier “ really for xbox cloud. But with your xbox account you can login and play Fortnite for free.
@@GameTechPlanetthat's more of what I meant. That's the only thing I can't seem to run natively without a lot of hassle. I bought the $1.00 2 week trial thing alongside xbplay, but I'd prefer to not have to pay for a subscription to game pass.
If you are on the same network does it just use local? Like speed doesnt matter or does it still go through your internet?
Correct. On same network your limitations and performance are tied to your local hardware and router. When on a different network it chanhes and is going over the internet.

Is this as good as Chiaki on ps5? Chiaki has zero latency for me. I was hoping there was something for Xbox that’s similar.
Is there a way to use voice party chat with this app? Plugging into steam decks aux or Bluetooth shows like it SHOULD work but I can’t get it to, XBPlay has options for audio but I feel like I’m missing something. Has anyone found a workaround ?

Hey man quick question. When I login I can use my Gamepad to select my games. I’m using remote play. I can choose my game with my game pad but when I get in the game I can’t use the game pad to play. Any tips???

Yes because with this method u get access to adjust the bitrate and stuff.

I've been using this app for two days and it works pretty good. There's only one game that I can't play so far. It disconnects the app after about a minute.
Other than that it works great and there's little input lag. I'll be using it to play through single player games and a few games online.
I was just about to order a separate cloud gaming system. Now if they make a PS version I'd be set.

So remote play you dont need gamepass. Just streaming your console. If you have a Gamepass ultimate subscription that includes cloud gaming which you his app also has built in.
I have gamepass for PC (not the ultimate version). Both remote and cloud play didn't work. If your country support gamepass ultimate, then you should be able to use xbplay cloud play function.

Yea. I ised withbmy one x. Those consoles have basically the same remote play feature. If for some reason u have troubles steam has been great about refunds under 2 hours.
For me remote play has far too poor connection quality. I have a 500 Mbps connection also, second highest speed spectrum offers my home. Do I just need a new router ⁉️ seems most everyone I talk to has even slower speeds than me, so who is remote play for if no one has enough Internet speed to use it
See if your router has wifi 5 or better. I have terrible Internet speeds compared to many people, but my router has wifi 5 and it works great.
It's ass for me too
Had many issues with Spectrum's internet when I was subscribed to them. I switched to a local company that provides fiber optic and all of my issues are now gone. Not saying that switching ISPs will definitely help you, but it was an IMMEDIATELY noticeable difference for me. I was paying for gig speeds on Spectrum and my 500mbps fiber speeds are much faster and absolutely more consistent.
