    Shane you have to be the best acoustic guitar teacher on UA-cam. No matter how complex or simple your lesson is, it is your strumming patterns that make the difference compared to other teachers! Cheers!👍👍

    Hi Godfrey here from Torrevieja Spain loved the play along for dead flowers. I am 72 years old and the Rolling Stones have always been my favourite band from day one. Thankyou so much. I didn’t start playing the guitar until I was 60 years old just wish I had got into it in my earlier years.

    Great song! Loved it when it first came out back in the day and love it still today. On Keith’s song opening D chord downstroke, he lifts his middle finger from the E string and it produces a haunting opening chord I’ve never forgotten and that’s how I like to open the song up with.

    The play alongs are fantastic. You're exactly correct Shane. Playing alone for the past 1 year or so I've gotten in a lot of great practice, but my timing was off and I didn't even notice. The play alongs really help me focus on that. Thanks Shane.

    Great work on this song Shane! I first became aware of "Dead Flowers" at a Steve Earle concert here in the U.K. back in 1988. Steve introduced the song saying "And here is a perfectly good British hillbilly song......" I found out later it was a Mick Jagger/Keith Richard song that had passed me by. Thanks for all your work giving us the best guitar tutorials. You and yours stay safe and well.

    This is one of those songs where people hear it different. On the start I strum 3 times with the high E open & then I hammer on the 2nd fret on the 4th strum. We have a Hospice jam & some don't hear it.

    It’s interesting that you slow the G chord on the 1. You give it a delayed flourish on the down because there is no upstroke. Visually it looks like your strumming hand goes into a circular pattern for just the 1 beat, then back into an up and down pattern afterwards.

  • @dschenk952

    Thanks for the great lesson. It is pretty quick for these old fingers so I use the "asterik" looking symbol in the lower right hand of the window. Clicking on that you can go into the Playback Speed and slow things down a bit. Makes Shane sound a little funny when he calls out the chords though. :) Thanks, again.

    Perhaps you can help. I use a chord that I have not found a name for as of yet. It is an open shape E major chord, but I add my pinky on the 4th fret of the high E string. Sometimes I mute the B string, sometimes not. But essentially its an E chord with a G# added on. So its E B E G# B G#(low to high)....but usually the B is muted (sounds better and easier to do). any idea what it may be called?

    • @GuitarAtWork
      @GuitarAtWork  3 роки тому

      Hi DB - thanks for that. You would just call it an E chord. I know that might be a bit disappointing to hear but it really is just a plain old E chord. When you add the G# on the high string you are just doubling the 3rd of the chord which doesn't change the name. Cheers, Shane

    Don't rate his tuition style, he garbles too quickly in speech...too hurried to get message across which is unhelpful to the beginner. Granted there are few chords, but it would be better if the sequence changes, eg for chorus were explained more clearly. Not one of the better tuition sites.
