I feel the same about my Ghost Fret! Im almost not worthy..
It just doesn't sound good in general, at least not with the new stock pickups. I don't know why anyone would decide to put those in their guitars.

Someone once called a looper the worst pedal ever...because it kept playing back the crap he played! I know how good my equipment can sound, because I've heard others play my rig!
Guys, I worked for CEGB for 18yrs through 70s-90s and on our Power station we had big station P.A systems that ran on KT 88 and 66 'valves and ecc83 pre amp valves with other bits of high quality electronics , they up-graded to solid-state in the late 80s and the stores managers had ALL the valves in stock SMASHED!! boxes of perfect top-grade valves, this happened across the uk grid system , Total Bastards . ( rescued a few for my own amp) .

First of all, congrats to the dad in the room! Secondly, I can't believe it's been 10 years of Blackstar already. At the same time, though, it feels as though they've been around forever. They've truly made a massive impact in a relatively small time period, as far as gear brands go.
I've been using their pedals since the beginning, with an HT-Dual and a Roland Cube 60 forming my go-to rig in my late teens when I first started touring. Now, the LT-Drive is my OD of choice - by quite a margin. I've also been using their amps whenever I need to rent an amp. I should really grab one of my own. These little guys sound ace!
The LT Dual is so underrated
I have both HT (the big valve driven pedal yeah?) and LT Dual. Both cool AF

He has made chapman guitars to sound and feel like he really likes, so I think it's pretty obvious why he uses them.
Maybe because they are crappy guitars and people would rather see him play a good guitar when he demonstrates gear. Personaly I would rather not see him play at all because he cant play anything but mindless shredd

Spent a day with the Series One KT88 and guys you have got to try one. It just sounds good set to about anything. Tight distortion. I dont know its just different feeling than my DSL40C and Peavey 6505MH.
I own one and I'm super glad they came out with a non anniversary edition for everyone to enjoy. Blackstar is killing it lately

KT88 Valves were used in Marshall Majors 200w. The Majors were basically 1959 Plexis but because of the Bigger Valves and different circuitries - the power doubled. Ritchie Blackmore used them from 1968 until 1993 which was when he left Deep Purple. During the early days, He had his Amps modded by the factory to give him nearly 280 watts of power. This was because he wanted them to sound like an AC30 on steroids.
Another notable user of The Major was Stevie Ray Vaughan, who would use it with a Fender Twin.
Hiwatt pushed their KT88 amps as far as 400w!
Richard Harrold I know and I think Randall make a 400w amp.
Pretty sure that'll be solid state? Wattage with SS doesn't equate to tube watts. I think the ultimate iteration of the Fender Bassman also hit 400w. John Chambers built a 400w stereo amp, 2 channels each with 4 KT88s pushing 200w a side, supposedly a 600w (2 x 300w) version also got built. He also did a ONE THOUSAND WATT monster (1015w RMS) using four 813 valves, which make KT88s look like LEDs in comparison... www.chambonino.com/construct/const9.html

their modeling amps are nothing special but i mean, fuck modeling. the best use for one is to play sequenced shit from the computer while you play guitar through a tube or solid state

Its only recently that I've heard anything about kt88s. When I was a kid the old guys were having their amps regressed for 6l6 cause they couldn't get kt88s

Public Service Announcement. If anyone is reading this in January 2019, Blackstar's "Artist" 10 AE (anniversary edition) is heavily discounted right now since they just released the new Studio 10s. The Studio 6L6 is essentially the exact same amp in a different skin as the Artist 10 AE. Same preamp tube, same 6L6 power section, same speaker, same controls. Get the Artist 10 while it's still avail if you're on the fence. As of this writing they're $200 off!

+Captain Anderton could you please do some demos with the Ibanez artcore 335/339 style jazz guitars AS, AM and the ASV series please? There aren't anything in youtube (i've looked!) that compares the AS/AM 93 or AS/AM 73 to the fabulous looking and sounding ASV/AMV10a. I'm really trying to find one to try one but it seems everything (including andertons) has them only as - on demand. An Anderton quality review will really help.

Honestly, the big plus of hearing the same riffs again and aigain, is that it makes the products somehow a bit more comparable. Beside that, tone and taste are so subjective. I tried some blackstar amps and I can not like them. I tried to, and they have a really nice price tag on them, but I do not get warm with their tone (beside the french tax button thing).
What about a "make your buddy a new tone he will love" competition vid?
