Lyrics. Sometimes these memories pull us under We get lost talking, days gone by But we're not getting any younger Now it feels like real life has dragged us in its tide So we stay awake Like we always do And we try to recreate And when nothing's changed And I'm next to you It doesn't feel the same I would never change what our past is Written in our bones, it's who we are I just can't control where my mind goes When it goes too far So we stay awake Like we always do And we try to recreate And when nothing's changed And I'm next to you It doesn't feel the same Does it matter if we change Does it matter at all Don't you worry about me, friend Don't you worry at all Does it matter if we change Does it matter at all Don't you worry about me, friend Don't you worry if it doesn't feel the same It doesn't feel the same It doesn't feel the same (It doesn't feel the same) (Feel the same) (Feel the same)
What an amazing song. It's incredible how interpretive music can be and how a song from the past can resonate with people today depending on where they are in life. Case in point: when I first heard this song, I thought it was just a bop. Sounds cool, that was all. Listening to it again today I nearly cried. All that nostalgia, nothing feeling quite the same as before, it all catches up. I strive to move forward every day, yet I also get sad remembering days gone by. Days of blissful ignorance, when everything seemed like it was going to be just fine. Considering how bleak our future seems if you understand the ecological crisis that we're entering, this song resonates with me more today than it ever has before. Heck, besides global warming, it feels like I'll never be able to afford my own place to live. These thoughts have been making it hard to sleep lately and so I've filled the void with hobbies and other things I like doing. In the end, however, I just wish I could just experience the simplicity of my youth. But things will never be the same.
In a similar vein, I'd never change who I am and don't regret any of the events or choices that have made me who I am. This song has really grown on me.
Bro this actually makes me happy to hear. Not in context of your situation, I’m sorry about your pain, but happy in the way that we’re thinking the same.
I used to have fear about the future, and had a really tough childhood. When Jesus saved me he gave me perfect peace, and I was able to put all the past behind me. He loves you. Don't ever forget that
i first discovered this song when i was around 11. i’m 20 now, and you’ve hit the nail on the head. when i was little, this song was JUST a good song. now, i truly feel and understand the lyrics, the nostalgia is hitting me so hard i’m nearly moved to tears
I first heard this at a party I was at. I had an asthma attack and had to be brought home by the paramedics. Best and worst night of my life. I downloaded it on iTunes so now I need to keep an inhaler in my hand whenever I listen to my music.
This song makes me feel a sense of healing almost? It makes me feel like recovery, acceptance and an overwhelming sense of love. A happy look back on nostalgia.
Try listening to Porter Robinson He's songs are beautiful one way or another also Madeon and Porter made a collab 2 months ago if you wanna listen to that its called Madeon and Porter Robinson - Shelter
the background music just takes me back to when i was younger. things were so smooth, i was happy, everyone in my family loved me, i had real friends, i felt like i could rely on someone, i didn’t feel trapped in my own mind set, and i didn’t feel so sad everyday of my life...I actually enjoyed being around and now i lock myself in my room and cry everyday thinking things will get better but they never do...
Shouldn't matter why you're h ere, as long as you enjoy the music. The reasons don't matter. If you enjoy the music and love it's sound, THATS what matters.
+Sean Thompson I might be the only one, but the first song I heard was the Grandtheft Remix of Technicolour. Don't remember how I found it, but god damn I still love that song. Anyway after a while I searched for more Grandtheft remixes, but they're all heavy trap as far as I could tell (not a fan). So I searched for Madeon. Best decision I ever made 2 years ago. It's been great since!
there’s something incredibly special about this song, every time i hear it i feel a massive overwhelming rush throughout every fibre in my body. It’s like i’m flying through space, with all the stars and the galaxy.... or running just running without a destination...it’s a soulmate song. It makes me feel so incredibly happy and nostalgic and emotional and sad and confused and... magical. I only feel like this about certain songs and my god this is one of them. If this song was a person.... i would marry them🥺
They played this song at work today and I FREAKED OUT!!! I love this song so much and I still can't believe it was playing in our store!! Galantis played the other day too!! You guys are finally breaking through the mainstream and it makes me extremely happy!!! Keep up the amazing work!
I remember last September, I decided to download Madeon's Adventure after I fell in love with Finale during April, and eventually Ok and Beings near the end of the summer. I just remember being really caught up with how catchy each of the songs are, especially songs like Zephyr and You're On. Because I listened to the album so heavily, I associate the music with that time of my life. I just remember feeling all the excitement of going to grade 12 and taking on new challenges - it was an extremely fun year to start up, and it continued like that too. I was never really an academic person, but my grades skyrocketed during this year because I was driven to do well. My friends were super supportive, and they were always physically there by my side. We had our fun antics, and our serious studious times. Now I'm here, first year university student. I'm alone in a school that I hate (transferring out). My friends are still supportive, but they're not physically by my side like they were last year. So when I hear some of these lyrics (my interpretation of this song is about unsuccessfully recreating the past/yearning for the past), I get a strong emotional reaction. I miss them, and I miss the way things were last year. Everything this year is going downhill for me (except my grades, thank god). It's odd to think about. I initially fell in love with Madeon's songs due to how pleasing they were(and still are) to my ears. But now, I love them because I feel the lyrics, and because they take me back. It's funny. You usually don't expect typical electronic songs to invoke emotional reactions, but it goes to show what Madeon is like. He's not a typical electronic musician. He's more than that!
Its kinda funny that Im from Brazil and can use your 3years old comment as mine. About 3 years ago I thought the exactly same thing. This music is so trippy and much more than usually electronic music. Thank you for the time you took to write your thoughts down. Hope your doing great. See ya

0:45 to 1:16 this is my favorite part of the song. it has a nostalgic feel to it. like everything was so innocent and good. it's also got a mixed emotions type add to it as well. i feel weird, i feel so happy and warm, i feel scared, i feel sad. it's my favorite excerpt from any piece of music ever.
My girl and I are really going through it these past weeks. This song helps me in so many ways, and everytime I listen to it and just close my eyes it's all my feelings are being lifted and amplified in a way I cant describe. It helps from old self harm habits and i feel infinitely better. I feel like a new person.
I used to listen to this song in 2017, it was a nice year, i remember really enjoying it. Now I listen this and it makes me feel so sad and nostalgic, like nothing feels the same, feel like i can tell myself “when i’m next to you it doesn’t feel the same” and it hurts so bad, i wish i could go back…
Reminds me of when my best friend got a concussion and her personality majorly changed as well as most of her memories being lost. I didn't fully understand it when I was 11 and tried my best to still be her best friend even though she kept pushing me away and ghosting me. It was incredibly painful. 9 years later and I still have trouble handling change, but this song helps.
This song kind of describe a person who ended a relationship with someone and got a new bf/gf but the love doesn't feel the same like the previous relationship and gets throwback how they had it with the previous person.
That's one way to look at it. Another way is that a couple that has been together for a long time is slowly losing the passion it had in the beginning. They are desperately trying to continue based off of the memories and good times but they come to the conclusion that it isn't how it used to be. They do the same things that made them happy to be together earlier in the relationship but as they grew older and life happened, as it does, they grew apart emotionally.
xDarkDreams lmao it's art it can be interpreted in many ways that's the beauty of it, I see it more as a person passing away, missing them and the memories they had. it doesn't feel the same, and at the songs bridge it's sounds like heaven angels you know, it can be seen anyway 😊I
This songs give me so Many feels and It has a deep meaning to me, this song tells me Be careful about what you do and say around the people you care about most because one wrong thing can make you lose them forever and Everytime I listen to this song I cry because I get memories of my and my mom fighting and I feel like such a bad person for fighting with my mom
Don't worry, they're the people who cried listening to this song because it's so amazing. They wanted to hit the like button but their eyes were filled with water so they missed it.
I dont know why but this song makes me think about derealization (where you feel like you are not alive, detached from yourself, or when you believe your surroundings are fake) it makes you think in different ways and you basically stay awake because you feel dead and you want to stay sane when at any moment you feel like breaking down
I made a comment on this abt 3 years ago asking if anyone had heard this from a video game because it sounded so nostalgic to me and I thought I had to have heard it from somewhere. I'm coming back to say that that was never the case. I don't think I've ever heard this song before the day I commented, but the reason I felt nostalgic to it is because this has been my life for a while. I was an extremely creative kid, and to this day I love to draw and make stories. I always look back fondly at the stories I made when I was young, the ones that made little to no sense but were still endearing and had a fairly stable world built around it. Every once and a while, I remember these old stories and try to recreate them in a way that maintained their original charm, but of course made a little more sense. This song sounds like it's about just that; someone who doesn't want to change the past, but rather recreate it in a way that'll make them feel like they're still in it. Like they're still young and dumb, but creative and happy with what they do. I still integrate my old characters, worlds, and their stories into the ones I make today, because they're special to me and represent a time where I was more carefree, and in some ways maybe even more creative than I am now. But even then, even with the wishes and attempts to recreate the past, the song's end contains the phrases "Doesn't matter if we change" and "Don't you worry if it doesn't feel the same". I feel like change being inevitable is a fact that some people with a similar take on life can't deal with, but then there are some people, people like the song's narrator and me, who have accepted this. We can recreate the past all we want, but time keeps moving, and that's ok. In fact, I look forward to my future more than anything, because it means I can do the thing my past self always wanted to do; share my dumb little stories to the whole world. We recreate the past, but we use it to take it into our futures, and THAT'S why this song hit me the way it did all that time ago.
This song is so 2018 even though it came out in 2015. Like the sound you’d use for an Instagram edit back then. I miss those times so much, when I was just 13. I‘m literally 19 now, like wtf. I‘m close to my 20s.
look, this is one of my favorite madeon songs but everytime I hear it it triggers this old memory of mine.. oh boy. so our class was taking this practice SAT test and the whole class was silent for hours, until my phone, which I thought I turned off, rung and La Lune (my ringtone) started to play so god damn loud. i sat in the back and all of our phones were in the front so I had to take a long ass walk to turn off my phone. I tried not to look at my classmates' faces but I swear I felt every fucking stare. as i got back it HAPPENED AGAIN not once but TWO MORE TIMES HEHDGSGQYW7KSJSBAJAKSJ

Oh god, the lead singer my favorite band and my second favorite band did a song together! WHY HAVE I NOT BEEN INFOREMED OF THIS SONG UP UNTIL THIS POINT?!
Not tryna sound like a fuck boi but these lyrics hit me. My girl just left after two years, when I kissed her I kissed her with everything I had. And when you do that with one person for so long, Trying it with anyone else, just doesn't feel the same.
Oh man me too. Its been forever but im still not over her. I haven't loved anyone properly yet since then and im terrified. I love her so much but we've barely been friends anymore

Sometimes these memories pull us under
We get lost talking, days gone by
But we're not getting any younger
Now it feels like real life has dragged us in its tide
So we stay awake
Like we always do
And we try to recreate
And when nothing's changed
And I'm next to you
It doesn't feel the same
I would never change what our past is
Written in our bones, it's who we are
I just can't control where my mind goes
When it goes too far
So we stay awake
Like we always do
And we try to recreate
And when nothing's changed
And I'm next to you
It doesn't feel the same
Does it matter if we change
Does it matter at all
Don't you worry about me, friend
Don't you worry at all
Does it matter if we change

This is song is just so powerful not only in lyrics but the melody itself, it just gives me a feeling that other songs don't make me feel.
This is like the best thing I've ever heard... It deserves more views

I just realized after listening to this song like 30 times that the vocals is Bastille....Aka Dan Smith
I knew it was a member of Bastille, but got confused when i saw it said Dan Smith
+Francisco Hernandez It said ft. Dan Smith in the title.
+Equatic yes, thanks for that..... I didn't know Dan Smith was bastille
I had no idea a song with my favorite people existed
Easy to hear it's Bastille
Bastille brought me here, but Madeon made me stay.
I used to listen to this song in 2017, it was a nice year, i remember really enjoying it. Now I listen this and it makes me feel so sad and nostalgic, like nothing feels the same, feel like i can tell myself “when i’m next to you it doesn’t feel the same” and it hurts so bad, i wish i could go back…
Bye this is exactly me, I binged all of madeons music in 2017
fantastic
Favorite song of the album!

This is one of the most evocative songs I have ever listened to. Like I can feel every part of the past at once, but in a beautiful way
Its crazy how madeon dropped banger after banger with this album, im still listening to them from time to time
THIS IS FUCKING AMAZING

Best part
i return to this song
i'm still not alive
This song kind of describe a person who ended a relationship with someone and got a new bf/gf but the love doesn't feel the same like the previous relationship and gets throwback how they had it with the previous person.
That's one way to look at it. Another way is that a couple that has been together for a long time is slowly losing the passion it had in the beginning. They are desperately trying to continue based off of the memories and good times but they come to the conclusion that it isn't how it used to be. They do the same things that made them happy to be together earlier in the relationship but as they grew older and life happened, as it does, they grew apart emotionally.
RealtremilCH2 Damn, you must get +A on school.
xDarkDreams lmao it's art it can be interpreted in many ways that's the beauty of it, I see it more as a person passing away, missing them and the memories they had. it doesn't feel the same, and at the songs bridge it's sounds like heaven angels you know, it can be seen anyway 😊I
I love this song! It's so memorizing like being in the sky surrounded by clouds. So peaceful
Can't express enough how much I love Dan's voice.
Madeon=Grammy worthy! :)
This songs give me so Many feels and It has a deep meaning to me, this song tells me Be careful about what you do and say around the people you care about most because one wrong thing can make you lose them forever and Everytime I listen to this song I cry because I get memories of my and my mom fighting and I feel like such a bad person for fighting with my mom
this song is unreal

I LOVE THIS SONG BE MY FAVORITE SONG!!!
I haven’t visited this song for like 5 years!
YESS!!
My mind doesn't rest the moment that I realized this could 100% qualify as a Melodic Dubstep song
3:05 I feel like its called "its time to leave"
Me: crying
Hey past and future me. Hoping we would have a great life. ❤
Sadly, me right now, I am not having a great time. I hope future me will change this once and for all.
Oh, it's getting a bit better here. It might just become better... hopefully. Maybe future me will tell the truth. ❤
I dont know why but this song makes me think about derealization (where you feel like you are not alive, detached from yourself, or when you believe your surroundings are fake) it makes you think in different ways and you basically stay awake because you feel dead and you want to stay sane when at any moment you feel like breaking down
8 years and this song still goes hard and makes me think of an project arrhythmia level
0:48 - 1:02

7 years ago? Wow, time really flies.
4年くらい?、、、現在13歳、、、ずっと探してた、、、やっと見つけた、、、、!!!!!!!はあはあはあ、泣きそうだ、、、🥲
マデオンは最高のDJだ!

AM IN LOVE. SO MUCH LOVE I HAVE LISTENED TO EVERY SONG. IT ALL SOUNDS LIKE HEAVEN. I FUCKING WANT PEOPLE TO PLAY THIS AT MY FUNERAL BECAUSE I WILL DIE BECAUSE OF HOW BEAUTIFUL HE AND HIS MUSIC IS. I AM WAITING FOR NEXT EP/ALBUMS. PLEASE GIVE MEH MORE. I NEED IT. ITS BEEN FOREVER! I LOVE MADEON!
Oh god, the lead singer my favorite band and my second favorite band did a song together! WHY HAVE I NOT BEEN INFOREMED OF THIS SONG UP UNTIL THIS POINT?!
Madeon isn't a band but ok
@@Meowblivion he/she talking about Dan Smith not Madeon. Dan Smith is the Lead Singer of Bastille
@@Meowblivion do you remember the famous song called "Pompeii"?
Madeon is the only French person that I genuinely like, much love from 🇨🇭
Not tryna sound like a fuck boi but these lyrics hit me.
