    Explanation from Paul Ybarra: Because of the 45 degree offset, when the lamp is on the left, the magnetic polarity of the coil is attracted to the neodymium magnet on approach; when the other solar gets hit by light after a 180 degree revolution, current changes direction to keep the magnetic polarity of the coil the same as it approaches the neodymium. So it is again attracted. When the lamp is on the right, the magnetic polarity of the coil is switched and is repelled by the magnet, forcing it to turn the opposite direction. What's interesting is the start. There needs to be enough light to drive the shaft (via momentum) beyond the perpendicular to the magnet to allow the second solar cell to activate the coil.

      Great 👍🏼 video..... just saw it today !
      I believe by positioning the solar panel at 45’ offset will allow more coverage for the panel to capture the light ie 45 + 180 + 45 ......

      I tried 5 times and it does not work , any idea why ? .. or is it trend ???

    It will be good if you can elaborate more in how the motor work and how the direction of lumination affects the direction of the spinning.

    This is the ONLY video that I can remember that you produced where an explanation wasn't given. Hope this isn't a trend because you are very good at explaining principles.

    This video fits perfectly with a quantum mechanics theory of how electrons escape at angles relative to magnetic fields. What a fantastic study it would be to examine the result of different angles of light with relation to the magnetic field(s).
    Edit: Professor, could you please do a video about how to make a simple rectifier circut for a simple vertical axis windmil turning a small dc generator/motor.

    If the rotation is essentially making the energy input radially symmetrical, how on earth is moving the light changing the polarity? That is wild.

    BTW, few people read the description box(Show More), so I think if you copy the same material there into a comment and pin it, that is better for all.
    Good luck and regards.

    Saudações LS Science. Saudações a todos. Não seria mais eficiente em forma de cruz? Digo: não seria mais aerodinâmico no formato cruz na horizontal? Ideia simplesmente incrível e simples. tudo de bom.

    I wonder if there is a clever way that this principle could be used to power a fan inside a house (like in the attic) with the solar panels being outside. Would the power transfer required put too high a load on this motor?

    • @ludicscience
      @ludicscience  6 років тому

      I think it would be more efficient run a normal fan from fixed panels on the roof, but your idea sure will be an attention getter!

    That's really cool. Where did you get the idea to use the sewing machine bobbins to wind the coils on, Lidmotor, or did he jet it from you? It's too bad a person couldn't make practical use of that motor, unfortunately it's just a novelty. Thanks man.
