Tom is very modest, he's a very good caster for sure, jt looked effortless. & cut him some slack he's just showing what can be achieved on relatively cheap rods for the job, its not a bloody tournament.
Shockleaders are banned on my lakes which means using 0.37 or 0.40 line straight through. Would love to see you do a straight cast using that diameter line with a proper rig attatched & 15mm boilie and let's see the distance you can achieve as that would be a real life fishing situation. Not knocking the promotional video because all companys do the thin line/braided leader & no rig cast but would be nice to see a real life cast.....
How far will a 13ft amplify spod/marker send a medium spomb? In the market for a 13ft spod rod for some long range fishing on the continent. Thanks....
I have spent years on the field measuring casts and am I yet to have a cast of 50 wraps come close to 200 yards when measured, most land 180-190 yards , all hitting the clip at 50 wrap shows is that there is 200 yards of line off the spool, nice to see someone enjoying distance casting though 👍
Hi Lew , Fully appreciate all of these points. This is just to show the rods capabilities , it hits the clip hard and would’ve gone further . Myself and a number of guys included have cast them over 200 using casting lines over grass but it doesn’t make for very exciting viewing imo. Tight lines
I have known Tom personally for a number of years and can safely say he can chuck over 200 yards be it on water, grass or the m5. It’s not just the distance he is shockingly accurate aswell and I speak from experience 👍🏼.
@@jamesgibbons901 I am not saying he can or carnt, I am saying all these companies and well known anglers are putting 50 wrap (200 yards) videos on social media when I have never seen it or anyone I no in the casting game have seen 50 wraps come close to 200 yards. I know anglers can relate to wraps more than going off an measured distance so maybe it gets a better response from the public, who knows
Food for thought Lewis ! But you will never wrap sticks as tight as the length of the real distance as you will always have slack line so in theory Tom would be doing slightly more that 50 wraps if you take into account the extra line.. slack thats caused
@@CHUNKSTVI no what you mean and in theory a few inch of slack in every wrap can add up but a good way to show how much slack there will be from the bow of line in the air is to go on a field and wrap up and clip it up at what ever wraps you can hit, then while leaving it the clip start to wind the slack line in until you get a taught line to the lead you would be amazed on how much you can wind, to get close to the wrap distances the line would have be tight all way along the floor from the lead to line clip. Further you go more bow in the air there will be. Even on calm days or with the wind the line follows a rough trajectory of the lead.
Hi. Why do I have normal carbon blanks. And not with trial x cross winding. Am very disappointed. Have a completely different blank than in the advertisement
There is a lot of good rods on the market these days for casting. However, £149.99/£159.99 the Amplify rods offer exceptional value for money when compared to the 'top end' rods you are referring too. Distance doesn't have to break the bank.
What size lead was used or would you suggest for best compression of the 13ft? Thanks.

Bonjours peux ont utilisé les têtes de lignes en tresse merci
Great rods, great price point 👍🏼
Thanks James!

That would compromise the distance no end, it’d be in the realms of 160/170
@@tomforrester2616 exactly but that would still be very impressive cast to show what the rod can do with that set-up 👍
@@tomforrester2616 i bet more like 140-150
Get tapered line 😂
@@tomforrester2616 what size lead would you suggest to get full compression of the 13ft rods please?
Send me a couple. I won’t charge for the feedback. Some reels and line will work also. I do love my other Avid products.

It's all down to the angler behind the rod, with the Midi X Spombs there is no reason you won't be able to fish 40 to 45 wraps with good technique.
@@AvidCarpFishingTV Thanks for taking the time to reply... appreciate your thoughts
Nice cast Man 👍👍👍

200 yds in the right hands. As any top end rod can do.

@@AvidCarpFishingTV if you look about you can get second hand for. that price for better rods. Good skills.
Ino what I would do
Downwind as well?
Just as all distance casting is done 👍
You want the fella to chuck 200 yards into a headwind?. Cut him some slack.
