Sigh, having to go back and getting parts of this ost to put it together really sucked because I had to see Joe like this again.
This ost was never released so there is no official name for it.
I cut it together and removed background audio from the original anime.

I actually like the background noises you left in, like the dirt footsteps, clanking of dishes, or muffled voices. It really adds to the song. Almost like life is going on around you, but you can't really seem to hear it through the grief.

season 1 needs more love IMO. easily one of the most unforgettable & ineffably beautiful experiences i have ever had with the medium.
& this is possibly my favorite ANJ ost. the pathos it communicates still haunts me deeply after all these years.

I always connet this with scenes from Ikiru by Kurosawa and my own life, another magnificent grandoise tragedies, when I'm sitting on a swing in the winter, as huge snowflakes fall down... As I'm thinking about my younger days as social orphan, about other hungry and homeless people, those characters and their creators, who knew hardships and hunger too; It goes full circle. Incredbiy sad reflections. Thanatos. Death will save us all. Nothing is left from that once huge fire, except white ashes.

@@buster5661 yeah, Joe was oblivious to every chance he had. Noriko also failed by not just spilling it out to Joe and ended up settling for Nishi. Joe couldn’t take the hint there should have been a breaking point for Noriko to finally confess but I guess that’s where Yoko enters in since she did what Noriko couldn’t. Still, Yoko waited too long.
Even after Noriko finally married she looked somber at Joe at the reception watching him from the distance. The fact Joe was orphaned and didn’t experience a regular home life like most kids affected him from forming close relationships with others and experiences with women.
The ending has been long disputed and there was another non canon ending with Joe retired from boxing and settling down with Yoko
