At first my 1, 2 and 3 stopped blowing and the fourth still worked, but eventually the fourth stopped working too. Would you still suspect this to be the issue? Thanks.
There is actually a fan relay under the dash on the left hand side, it's up above where the hood release is and you will find 3 relays clipped into a bracket there and it is the uppermost one. It could also be your fan switch itself but the relay is only $10 so start there.
I have a 2000 Forester, I'm assuming it's the same car as yours. The issue I have is the blower motor works on settings 1,2 and 3, but does not blow air on setting 4. Do you think it's the blower motor or something else?
Yes ‘98-‘01 are the same. Probably the dash switch, with the car off slide the switch back and forth a bunch (this cleans the contacts) do it 20-30 times and then see if it works at all. If it does work that would just be a temporary fix, but then you know for sure you need a dash switch. If the blower motor is working on any of the speeds than that shouldn’t be the issue.
@@tommygomez5343I just want to let you know there is also a blower motor relay that could be causing your problem, under the dash just above where the hood release is there is a bank of 3 relays and it is the uppermost one. Ended up having to change mine.
@@CarswithNash Just a follow up. Turns out the main plug that goes to the climate control switch was melted. I ordered a used Climate Control Switch from eBay, it came with the wiring harnesses. Since the main plug was melted I had to snip the old plug and then I replaced the Climate Control Switch and the main plug. I used heat shrink connectors from Harbor Freight. And I used my heat gun after I crimped the connectors to melt the heat shrink. It's been a few weeks/months but it has been working great. Thank you for helping me diagnose the problem.
Awesome thanks for a great video im going to try it and let you know!
Great to hear. Thanks for the feedback.
