You don't need to physically be on a computer to have kernel level access, just a simple software install can make that happen. For example valorant's anti cheat engine. Crazy how coping fanboys are calling it a nothingburger when you're this clueless

I dont understand one point. Why is everyone trying to hold Macbooks so high. A macbook is a macbook, other similar windows devices should also be combined together and then be put against the macbook. People do the same with iPhone. If you want a ios phone you can only buy iphone, but if you want to have a android phone you can chose from so many different brands. If you want to compare sales numbers you would need to combine all android sales with the ios phone sales but no one will do it to make apple devices look better. If apple opened up its software it would sell less macbooks and iphones

That seems like a bit much for a music server. I retired my FX-8370 / 16GB box. A smol Athlon 64 / 2GB box handles all my music and large storage. It just doesn't make sense to run a full size computer for basic tasks but hey, as long as it works.
HBM is magnificent but keep in mind that the problem with it was that the silicon wafer wants to curl up when you grind it thin for stacking. And that's like the least annoying thing about how much harder to manufacture HBM is.
with so many games dropping with huge storage requirements, wonder if they will start making bigger ssds since devs dont seem to like compressing their 8k textures

lol I was in 7th grade when I learned about computer specs. We had computers prior to that. I remember using one in kindergarten. But our computer when I was in 7th grade had a 3gb hard drive and 128mb of RAM. My friends dad was a computer engineer and their computer had 30gbs of memory and a gb of RAM which was like top of the line at the time. But I like to bring up the internet speeds. 28kbps dial up speed. It would take over 24 hours to download 1 song on Napster and if someone used the phone you would have to reconnect and restart the download. So we would download songs overnight and hope that it would finish before our parents needed the phone in the morning. Then we got a second phone line and 56k!! Man that was so fast!! And then finally we got cable internet and had like 1mbps of something like that. I tried explaining to my son how much faster internet is today. There’s no real way for him to comprehend. Maybe if there was an app you could download that would set your internet to 56kbps. But the websites and stuff aren’t designed for that slow of internet so I’m not sure how that would work. But yeah I just do the math for 56k to 1gig. Which 1 gig is basically 17,900 times faster than 56k lol. But yeah that and ssd’s have come a long way. I remember when a 1gb thumb drive was like $50 and so much memory. Shit i want to say my first mp3 player only had 500mb. It was enough for 50 songs.

I would agree with you on the Apple VR headset except for one thing, it's an ergonomic nightmare of a brick lol. If they can do the same thing in a package that doesn't snap your neck they'd probably have had a slam dunk. But if something is too heavy to use that's supposed to be worn on your face, all the best hardware and software built into the system kinda don't matter at all.
3950X system here... built just before COVID. First computer I ever built. While it would've been better if people didn't have to tell AMD right from wrong, but at the end of the day, i'm glad they're doing what's right (supporting something, for the exact facts/reasons mentioned in the video).

AMD does have “3rd” a gen NPU with the AI300, it’s just 2nd gen XDNA for the architecture. The AI300 has feature polarity with the MI300. So you could argue that both can be true at the same time. Ryzen 7k, 8k, and AI300 are three different generations. It’d even be fair to call the ryzen 8k NPU a refresh.

These handhelds are pretty much exclusively for old console emulation. They don’t have the specs to run steam. Any extra apps are made specially for the console

Every phone is expensive because of Apple as when Apple does something, everyone copies them even if it's bad so if they make gaming expensive then gaming is going to be expensive. That said it is fair to say that PC gaming is not as integrated as phones so the effect will probably not be as extreme and it's also fair that nvidia already made gaming expensive but as the other guy said, I doubt Apple is going to help.
I do think the Apple VP is overvalued for what it is, but I applaud apple for finally releasing something that definitely sets a precedent for where VR should be going. Can't wait for something with similar screen quality to launch with gaming support
Hardware capabilities are meaningless if there is no software that makes use of them in a way that people find useful which is the biggest problem with the Apple Vision Pro. It has other significant problems, but that is the biggest one.

speaking of degrading cpus. i think my stock r7 5700x is degrading. it doesn't bluescreen but goes 0 fps stutter sometimes in games. i went into bios, set the pbo2 clock to negative 50 (Mhz) and it fixed it.

How bigger do you want your ssds? There are already 8TB 2.5" ssds. There are also expensive SSDs with upto 20TB of storage or maybe 100TB?

My first machines were floppy disk only, and the first server I installed had a 70MB HDD. I’ve been in this industry a long time.

FFXV was dev'd on 2 different platforms. 16 was dev'd on RYZEN. It SHOULD be much better.

My 14900K fully died, I had it for about 8 months and Im gonna switch to a 7950x3d because i alr have 64 gb ram from the intel system

Ryzen 6000 was mobile only. I run a Legion with a 6800H. Some of the older Ayaneo's use the a similar chip

That said it is fair to say that PC gaming is not as integrated as phones so the effect will probably not be as extreme and it's also fair that nvidia already made gaming expensive but as the other guy said, I doubt Apple is going to help.

I do think the Apple VP is overvalued for what it is, but I applaud apple for finally releasing something that definitely sets a precedent for where VR should be going. Can't wait for something with similar screen quality to launch with gaming support
Hardware capabilities are meaningless if there is no software that makes use of them in a way that people find useful which is the biggest problem with the Apple Vision Pro. It has other significant problems, but that is the biggest one.

I hope that we get a Steam Deck 2 with these new APUs. They seem to be exactly the kind of power and efficiency jump that they said was necessary for them to make a new one. The current one is too weak for new games and even old ones run sometimes not that great.

speaking of degrading cpus. i think my stock r7 5700x is degrading. it doesn't bluescreen but goes 0 fps stutter sometimes in games. i went into bios, set the pbo2 clock to negative 50 (Mhz) and it fixed it.
It's not Apple's pricing (not _all_ the time). It's that you are/were paying a premium for hardware that was years behind on the silliest specs. The _European government_ had to drag them, kicking and screaming, into supporting USB C? On their "Pro" line no less? Then like petulant children they implement an older, slower version? We aren't paying them upwards of 1700 to 2000 USD to fund their pettiness and get an inferior product in the process. There's plenty to dislike them for, We were over the Sticker Shock ages ago.
