@@lorddarko7735 Not really a fair comparison to me though as “The Thing” never actually has a final definitive form or anything like that, we all know what a Xenomorph looks like design wise, but the point of “The Thing” is you never know what it really looks like.
I like the xenomorph from alien isolation, it takes everything that made the original giver design amazing, and just adds a few small details that make it seem slightly more realistic
Thanks for the review. I prefer the first version, as it was H.R. Giger’s original design. The distinctively mechanical look and the humanoid feet and legs make Big Chap more disturbing to me than the later versions with animal legs and more fleshy build. Same reason why I wish they’d used Giger’s strangely sexy, aerodynamic and deadly Dog Alien concept instead of ADI’s disgusting flayed creature for Alien 3. Accessories: I’d have appreciated a sculpted stand. NECA’s xenomorphs look fantastic but are notoriously prone to falling over and breaking easily. Removable back spike: it’s not surprising they did that. I believe S.H. Monster Arts opted for an articulated spike system to improve the head’s range. This feature is not necessary for Big Chap as it doesn’t move around much, but is pretty much required for the Alien Warriors from Aliens, that do quite a bit of crawling and climbing and share the same body. Only the head, hands and feet changed between Alien and Aliens.
I definitely prefer the aesthetics of the xeno from Alien Isolation. It gives of the vibe of the big chap merged with how the xenomorph has evolved in the lore. With the older movies you could tell that the design was a product of the limitations of costume and prop technology of the era.
The OG alien Big Chap is the creepiest to me. especially the done ans the skull. Just knowig that part of this creature is somewhat human because it does use human dna.
yeah the big chap design is the creepiest but also love the resurrection and avp designs, they seem super alien like, like a wild animal from another world
@@mikecustoms Personally im a fan of the xeno from Alien 3, it still felt very gigerish to me and its ability to run up walls and on the ceiling was pretty cool. The main thing i liked from the xenos in Alien Resurrection was that part when they swim, that was definitely something we had never seen before.
Strange. I visited my closest comic book store, first time going to a store not a supermarket since this covid thing, and left with this Big Chap. Love it. I like this design best. It's supposed to look human - it's genetics are partially human. It's creepy and weird in ways that future iterations just aren't, because they're more action movie oriented. I see the dog alien, and I think of how he was animated in the film. Mine poses pretty well.
I know some big chap figures have that shading in front of the dome (or carapace) but in the movie I remember being able to see right through with the human like skull
I totally agreed with you on the aesthetic, and that’s why this is the one and only xeno I had to pick up. I believe the face hugger is a new sculpt, too.
I just got the Ultimate 40th Anniversary version of this figure today & the right knee on mine is also very loose, it appears a rounded peg of some sort wasn't pushed all the way through to secure the lower part of the leg to the knee properly, makes him very prone to falling over. I wonder if this is a common mishap in the assembling of this figure.
Here are 15 Neca Ultimate Figures I think We Need: Jack Torrance (The Shining), Regan (The Exorcist), Norman Bates (Psycho), John Nada (They Live), RJ MacReady (The Thing), the Thing (The Thing), John Rambo (First Blood), Patrick Bateman (American Psycho), Billy Peltzer (Gremlins), BeetleJuice (BeetleJuice), David (the Lost Boys), Michael Emerson (the Lost Boys), RoboCop (RoboCop), Indiana Jones (Raiders of the Lost Ark), and John Mclain (Die Hard)
And yes I know Neca has made Regan, John Nada, John Rambo, BeetleJuice, David, Michael Emerson, RoboCop, John McLain, but I’m talking about Neca making Ultimate 7” figures, because the clothed and cult classics figures aren’t as good or not to scale
The Facehugger is design like on the first Alien, exactly the same with the Chestburster and the egg. If you check the ultimate Alien Warrior's accessories you'll see the difference in design for all of them.
Great review 😎👍 I think that Neca has a really good understanding of how to make an attractive yet affordable rendering of figures from the Predator and Alien IPs
My hips were perfect so I don’t think the loose joints are a constant problem, but on some the tip of the tail can very easily get warped in the packaging
Neca:* makes brand new movie accurate chestburster Anthony,a man who works checking out and putting intricate details in figures: "pretty much your standart chestburster"
The dog-legged Xenomorphs are what I prefer, but this Big Chap is gorgeously frightening and I love the bendy tail. (Hopefully Marvel Legends cribs some notes if & when they redo The Lizard BAF.)
I have MECA ORIGINAL ALIEN done along with the ALBINO DRONE from ALIENS and the DOG ALIEN from ALIEN 3 They are still in the box never opened so I'm satisfied with these designs and the features are movie authentic so again I'm not complaining 😂
I got two copies of this, well one in the ultimate style and one in the regular style and both got ball joint hips, similar to what you would see on marvel legends. It sucks but maybe there are two variants of this, one with the garbage neca hips and one with regular old ball jointed hips
@@kaiju-odanny9778 I keep hearing about the Target exclusive Spawn with Axe release, do you have a link to more information? I can't find a good source anywhere
It's cool yes. It looks badass of course. I love it. Definitely. But I mean, we've seen this before. We've had this same figure over and over we need something new!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE This figure, but my biggest complaint with this figure is that the head isn't transcluent at the front like the SDCC prototype that was on display :(
The way his legs connect to each other and to the body is just frustrating. I had to get mine replaced because I tried to even out both of his legs only to find out just how poorly designed the joint connected to his waist was. Other than the legs and the very inconsistent tail (near the point) I actually enjoy this figure. Standing him straight up makes it look like he's in pain
Ok did I have this same figure and honest I give it a really good rating Um but my head when I move it from side to side mine is kinda tough to love and I like that if I wanna pose him in anyway I want I can but thanks man for this vid I follows along with it on my figure and it’s perfect thank you
I want a alien figure but I'm not sure should I get the figure because I'm a marvel legends collector I just got into the collector game. But thank u for reviewing the figure now I'm more sure to buy this figure thanks!
I dunno I perfer the dog formed or r legged xenomorphs but I'd definitely put the classics as scarier (who likes seeing a 2 legged creature walking/running towards you)
9:36 More of that self promoting I love it lmao. I'm not gonna lie I like your axe WAAAAAY better than the official one that's coming as a Target exclusive. I'll save my money for this axe 😁
A good accessory would be previous figure heads with the wrap around baby alien. It would encourage people to buy the other figures and reward the people that did buy the other figures.
Dude I really like your reviews cuz u are honest and that prevent us to buy something we might regret. Ty for this awesome review now im 100% SURE that I need this figure on my collection
Love this. But the whitish skull on the front of the carapace should be more visible I believe; the airbrushed sploosh of black on the forehead is just too heavy. A smokey, translucent black would have been better. Does the clear part of the carapace come apart easily so this can be fixed or can the paint there be cleaned off till the skull shows through? Going to be hunting this Alien in the stores now.
Even with the bad hips, you've convinced me to buy it. I'm sure you've said it before... but do you prefer a separate bicep swivel or the swivel at the elbow joint? I like the swivel at the elbow, but I'm usually wrong about these things.
I was the 69th like, so...bow-chicka-bow-wow! Great review Anthony, and to answer your question I prefer the necromorphs that are basically just humans in a costume
I have the exact same figure except the translucent cerapus (head dome) has a milky white color because its an older release. I'm not sure which one is more accurate though.
Would have been nice if they didn't paint the front of the dome black... should be able to see the skull without a flashlight... bought 3 of these and one of the skulls are visible..
Yeah I own the figure too. I think he just missed it since the joints can be tight sometimes. It should bring up the articulation score to at least a 7 or 8 in my opinion. If you like aliens pick it up! Very worth it
I still for the life of me can't understand that god awful hip thing that they are doing. It reminds me of some of those super cheap toys I had as a kid where the legs would always move together gosh its so terrible why do they keep doing it?? It just pisses me off
This design was better. The smoky, clear skull casing makes the classic style Alien scarier than the ones in the sequels
xenomorph does really exist in 2024 they're more like velociraptor or t rex
Isolation was the best, since it's just the original with the double bend legs and a longer tail. Shame they're unlikely to make an ultimate of it
what makes a neca figure an ultimate version?
Honestly just the box half the time
@@MakoSucks a fancy box, more accessories and if the original figure has shit articulation then they have better articulation.
@@liveloveminnesota that makes sense, but oddly enough the 40th has less articulation in the shoulder. Maybe for ultimate looks
