Wild oxyfern are pretty bad. Domestication improves them drastically, so that you only need 3.2 per dupe. I think you get around a dozen plants. It's slightly more water efficient than the electrolyzer. Long term there is polluted and salt water on the map
and the plants generate no heat. electrolyzer has too much sideeffects this early in game for me. i prefer to get all the plants and dig first bottom, so i can have a hole for carbon dioxide. :D
Exactly, and there is lots of oxyferns in this world, just plant them all at the bottom, keep them under 40 degrees and they produce enough for quite a while. Also, ranching Hatches is great on this map, you could go into the parts that are under scalding degrees, dig out all the cracks, should be enough for a few stables - nearly-free delicious barbeque! Awesome that you're doing an ONI series again, also cool to see the Oasisse challenge! I started this map not long ago, so we can suffer together :D
Put the Spercomputer next to the portal. Make a CO2 pit for the food. Make Mush Bars and turn them to Mush Fry. FORGET ELECTRLOYSER until you can build proper base cooling
yeah you need get a fern farm going asap and pump out o2, pump in co2....wood burners are gonna create the co2 better get some trees going if you can. gotta control the co2 though right away.....during all this you gotta figure out food and insulation .......gotta love this game!!!
To generate enough Oxygen early-mid game on Oasisse you need to plant oxyferns towards the bottom of the base in a airtight room. Place a lumber generator on top with lots of airflow tiles below it. When you run low on CO2 and the oxyferns aren't working all the time turn on the generator for a bit. It'll produce enough CO2 for the ferns to work continuously
You could also ranch a couple pops set aside a large area for a CO2 pit and give the pips a bunch of oxyfern seeds it will be wild growth but it would also make them just a continuous passive oxygen producer may not solve the problem but it will help
I'm just watching this after a few months. I saw the first play through of hardmode and thought you were a maniac, I can barely survive first planet let alone Oassise. Can't wait to see how this plays out.
Dude I’m really glad that you’re finally playing this map, for the oxygen what you need to do is grow the oxyferns domestically in a carbon dioxide pit that you should make in the bottom of your base, about 3 of them can support 1 dupe if you grow them domestically but they consume a lot of water so you gotta quickly go over to electrolysers and also upgrade to regular toilets so you can recycle your water(you can use germy clean water to feed the oxyferns as you know food poisoning germs in oxygen is not a problem)
8 domestic oxyferns and a wood burner on top for all early game oxygen needs. Works really well. This map has a lot of arbor trees so wood should not be a problem + easy electricity if you plug it into a smart battery.
Concerning the food: you have wild growing trees everywhere and pips, you need a rancher! Throw some pips in with the trees, put a rancher there: free meat and dirt (for the oxyferns once you get water solved).
*Turns on scanner* *scans local geologic area* *flips through notes calmly* Doop: so, how does it look? Geologist: according to my calculations... *checks note* ... we're fucked.

Some 'hot sand' areas are usually less than 70C. Those areas can be pretty easily dug by dups without suits. It can give some easier access to some additional resources.
GG. How to make oxygen in the early game? Remove the outhouses. The dupes pee on the floor, then sweep it up. The bottles of polluted water will outgas polluted water. Use deordorizers to make it into clean oxygen.
Hey man. I'm so happy you're doing another playthrough. You are the reason I bought this game. I've played 130 hours in January alone. If you could do one thing for me I would be eternally grateful. Please call the trees "Happy little trees" at least once. Keep up the good work and try not to kill your dupes.
I also started this map when I found out there's no algae. My dupes had like 5 spaces in the map with 1kg of o2 to breath when I finally installed my electrolizer. I think 1/2 more cycles until my dupes would've been history! After that I was lucky to find a cool slush geyser close by so I had a renewable water source for the entire early game. For food I rushed a little plastic and steel, and build a cooling loop next to a hydrogen vent to power it up, I had insulated farms before that but after the cooling loop I could go into mass farming in a cool area :D
@@GrindThisGame yes! besides the cooling it gives free (polluted) oxygen. It's really the best thing to find early game :) Tbh, it almost felt like cheating oasisse since the heat is way easier to deal with.

Oxyfern produce oxygen from carbon dioxide at the same ratio that dupes produce carbon dioxide from oxygen. As such the volume of gas available will remain constant. In a less oxygen hungry base you can pressurise it by using any sort of power generator that produces co2 as a byproduct and support a larger base by domesticating the ferns (increasing their magnitude at the cost of water) In your case you're definitely going to need extra oxygen generation however cooling and water will become a big issue for electrolysis. to supplement electrolysis I'd recommend a morb farm because I find them cute and also cos you'll never run out of sand on this map
Yess!! I miss these ! I watch these all the time whenever I want to relax but I watched all your other series so I’m really excited to finally see a new one! GL on this series 👍🏼♥️ Goal of this series: No dupe deaths!!
Planting something in a proper farm tile and feeding it whatever it requires will boost their production by 4 times or so, you can uproot all those starting oxyferns and plant them in farms for the short-term c:
Wild oxyfern aren't really worth it. Domestic ones are soooo much better. They produce a lot more O2 and actually consume more CO2 than the dupes exhale.
Glad you're doing this again! Just got back to the game myself. Also playing at Oassisse tho not on super hard mode. Some tips I think More domesticated Oxyfern will help for the start, just need 3 per dupes instead of 10 for wild and more water efficient than electrolyzers, so you can save some water and electricity until you make some water from the bathroom. Also you can check out the printable dupes and reject all to cycle them until you find a decent one
when you dig out a hot area, you can put a storage container set to sweep only just outside your insulated wall and dump all the hot rocks in there, then destroy/ disable it when you are done. only takes a few minutes and allows you to claim a little more area for later use
There's also a way to make oxygen from sand and mealwood. It needs a huge farm chamber full of growing mealwood. Then you let that mealwood spoil on the floor and pump the polluted oxygen to a deodorizer chamber and voilá. It's not super efficient and electrolyzers are probably better if there's no algae, since you need at least 10 Mealwood plants for just 1 duplicant. Plus it takes a long time to set up that kind of a rotting chamber and it needs a ton of space
you might have figured this out by the end of the video but oxyferns in farm tiles are way better they produce 31 g/s oxygen so 3.3 oxyfern per dupe works until you get your electroliser
On Oassise I built a vacuum insulation since It's way quicker and more efficient. Just build two rows of floor tiles then keep on creating vacuum tiles by diagonally deconstruct or simply create the vacuum by using pumps.
You'll probably need to use domesticated oxyfern or you're going to run out of water pretty quick. Once you get walled in you can search for a water vent for a renewable source for electrolyzers. The starting biome only gives you enough seeds for about 4-5 dupes.
Hey there is a model that requires all dupes to line up for sink use so you dont need to use more then one sink per section. They will take turns washing and not just run bye. I think it's called queue for sink if you wanna check it out
Im still not sure if oases or aridio is the hardest. Aridios start is supposedly harder. Theres also a modded map out there somewhere where there is no abyssalite and frequent lava biomes, effectively making oases look easy.
You say youll need exosuits to get through the hot desert...but you can also look for slightly less hot regions of the desert (especially where the starting biome cooled it down some) and micromanage your dupes a bit as they dig a tunnel. And yeah, while there is algea, the algae is on the other side of the dangerous desert at the edgesof the map, as you have no doubt discovered by now... So you can either rush the electrolyzer or domesticate oxyferns.
