Advantage of magloop in my experience is very low noise on rx.
Your videos on the MFJ 1788 Convinced me that this was the antenna that I needed. I live in a HOA neighborhood that is patrolled regularly by the HOA, and issuing letters at the smallest infraction. My attic is high enough that I was able to mount the antenna vertically on a tripod with an inexpensive RCA TV rotator. The first thing that I did when I received it was to take the cover apart and check the butterfly capacitor. All was good. You are right about the temperature effecting the tuning, big swings between day and night temperatures in the attic. I do have a question for you. In one of your videos a gentleman shared a picture of the loop mounted with PVC that was un-grounded, my loop is mounted on a metal tripod that I have grounded with a #10 insulated wire back to my station ground. Is the ground presenting any problems with the performance of the loop? My IC-7300 has never shown less than 1.5/1 where the MFJ controller regularity shows 1.2/1 Tanks KC4NEH
David, Good morning from Northern Thailand, thanks for that info, I always wondered about magnetic loops.
I think I will stick to my dipole for 40 metres.
Thank you for the review.

I have a 1936 Silvertone 4585 radio that receives SW and MW, that I’m considering one of these for. Any thoughts or suggestions?
