- SOLAR 42 is a unique experimental electro-music instrument, an analogue microtonal ambient drone machine. It will inspire you to find a new and spontaneous approach to composing music.
The instrument is oriented for live performances, creating film soundtracks, theatre soundtracks, atmospheric sounds, microtonal and background music. It is an improved version of the older SOLAR 50 model. The instrument was inspired by early electronic musical instruments of the 1920s and 1950s, notably Leo Theremin's «Harmonium» instrument, as well as science fiction film soundtracks.
The SOLAR 42 does not look like a classic synthesiser, which may confuse the user as it looks very complicated. In fact, it is easy to use. It has 8 voices as separate blocks, a mixer with pan and double effector, and various CV blocks.

The music is recorded in one take and one track. Without any processing and external effects.

Thank you. After seeing great reviews of this on UA-cam. I absolutely must have one of these in my studio. As I do Ambient /Trance/Sci Fi/Cinematic. This is simply stunning. I've heard everything from Moogs, to Oberheim, Waldorf, Nord, Roland, Korg, and loads more, but the Ambient Machine, is absolutely top shelf. In a crowded market, I commend you on your brilliant work. I'm about to move countries, and re build my studio, and one of these is most definitely planned. 🙏🏻💚

@onastick-hu5ss Yeah, it's wonderful and original. Totally amazing the scope of sounds that come out of it and it's so much fun to play with. The drone voices are pretty unstable though, so prepare to (re)tune a lot.

EXACTLY my thoughts, I'd never heard of them, but I've been scouting for new synths, and doing the rounds of UA-cam reviews, and I came across a pretty decent review of this machine. I'm rather fond of words, but I struggled to find any, I was simply jaw dropped. One of those rare little moments when someone just does something 'Right'. Definitely Number 1 on my 'next to buy list'. That and a Waldorf Iridium.

With a name Solar, I think - even though I am old - the yellow version would be most beautiful to me.
I am planning to build a hybrid setup of DAW, software synths and (semi)modular hardware. How well would the Solar 42 fit into an idea like that? It does come with lots of CV and Gate ins and outs, right? Would I be able to NOT use the touch keyboard and input pitch and gate from a MIDI to CV converter? I have questions, sorry.

These are photosensors for pitch modulation. For every drone oscillator. You can do vibrato and theremin effect.

@@merlinoner It's a self-contained instrument with its own keyboard. Plus it has enough CV - Gate inputs and outputs to connect external sources, including midi keyboards, most of which already have CV Gate outputs.
