I have a couple of *painting* software apps, and I often use them to play around with ideas. They really come in handy if you want to try some different background colors. Here again, I use it a lot for acrylic paintings because I often want to see how various colors will work with my painting. I’ve been trying to learn how to paint with watercolors, and there are so many different tutorials, methods, etc., to choose from. A lot of them just aren’t my style, but I love what you’re doing. You are making things so much easier for me! And your paintings are beautiful; that’s extremely important to me.

Thank you again. There are lots of apps. I use pixelmator to clean up the photos. Lately with my Apple Pencil with my iPad as I can really hone in on the finer details changing a few colours before I even start to paint. I love it

@@helencampbell I know I had Pixelmator for my Mac, but not sure I have it for my iPad. I do have Procreate, and I also have Affinity Photo, which is similar to Pixelmator. Love my iPad and my Apple Pencil. I’m amused that you have been checking off every box for me!

I’m so pleased. I considered doing that tutorial for quite some time. So many people have asked me for it and it’s something that I use as a really good hack to get started.

Hi Jenny. There used to be one called Pixomatic but now it’s a paid for subscription one. You could have a look 👀 n the App Store. What you need is something that removes the background. Perhaps something like Adobe. Sorry I can’t help more than that but if you like I can spend a little more time cleaning up the dog that you posted ?
Also I’ve a lovely penguin tutorial on Tuesday that you may like x

@@helencampbell Thank you, I went a bit adventurous with it and went a turquoise colour and used salt to create a bokeh/winter effect. I'm not liking the dog piece as the reference photo isn't great and even remini can't work it's magic on it. I'll have a hunt for a good free app though as it will help me out for future portraits.
I usually paint people's homes and stopped painting portraits because people expect them to be photo realistic.
