@@Huddison I've been using a 4 port usb hub on both my xbox one x and now the series x. It's a usb hub that I've had for at least 10 years and used on my pc. I use it on my consoles because I've had external hard drives taking up the inbuilt ports. I have my logitech steering wheel plugged into it and it works fine, same with the HOTAS one joystick. It's not working properly of course, but we all know why and it's nothing to do with the usb hub
Another great video with some nice settings thanks. Fortunately I can save all the sensitivity settings with the exception of the reactivity on my HOTAS one. Thanks again.
I found by changing my power mode on the Xbox series x it will save them. Try this and hope it works for you: Settings>General>Power mode & startup>Power mode>(change to Instant-on)>When Xbox is off, turn off storage>(untick the box). That's it. If you do a full shutdown or power off by unplugging the unit, then you need to re-set the sensitivity settings again. Hope it works for you.
Hi Mr H' could you pls do a updated vid as the game now saves all keybinds ? I for one would be interested to know all your latest settings and binds particularly Reactivity ? Also are you still using the TM Rudders and if so the setting for it ? ps great vids 😀 LOL Edit I,ve just found the lastest vid post SU9.
My xbox now has the 19-Oct-2021 update version 1.20.6.0. Release notes indicate it fixes the HOTAS button assignments AND the retaining of Custom profile Sensitivity settings. My testing shows the Sensitivity customisations are still lost when there is a full restart of the simulator 😭
I found that the loss of the sensitivity +/- settings is in the loading of the profile. For example if you set up for the HOTAS then go and change the settings for the controller the HOTAS settings will be lost if you then go back to the HOTAS controller screen. If you have two custom HOTAS configurations, they will also be lost if you switch between them.
Thanks for this video. A question, when I bank my flight to take a turn, and then let go of the stick to return position, the flight maintains the bank angle it was set. Letting go of stick doesn't return the aircraft level flight (I'm flying Skyhawk). Is it normal behaviour? Can we toggle it?
Hello everyone, The developers are aware of this issue and are actively working on a solution at this moment. We will post more information as it becomes available. I am closing this thread for now as no further reports are required. Thanks, MSFS Team This is ⬆️ a reply from Microsoft team on the issues we are facing with Hotas one...
Boa tarde meu amigo! Sou do Brasil! Atualmente as falhas que vc mencionou em seu vídeo há um ano atrás de configuração do eixo já foram regularizadas, ou seja, ao salvar as configurações elas se mantem? Grande abraço!!
Sim update 6... 3 months after launch.... and STILL the sensitivity saving is not resolved... although the button mapping issues do appear to have been resolved...
@@Huddison I would love to know your usual pedal settings once you do the update video. I ended up splashing for the bundle. Thanks again for everything!
Hey there would anyone know how I can manually add 2 simultaneous inputs with the 'select an input' tab I can't scan because it's picking up the incorrect input
The Hotas ONE on Xbox for MSFS is terrible... they've had a LONG time to test and get this sorted! Whats the excuse MS? I really want to get button combo's resolved so that I can map more functions!!! This vid seems great I really need to look at the sensitivities because out of the box it's not great! Why on earth MS/TM haven't resolved the input detect issue is very dissapointing it's been nearly a month since Xbox release and not a great incentive to spend money on the game!
Thanks a lot, great Video. You need to study science for this mapping mess. I want my Yoke and Multipanel, please Microsoft 🙏 Any suggestions for the Rudder Pedals and Brakes, can't find a comfortable setting.
I’ve recently purchased a series x Xbox, flight simulator 2020 & t flight hotas one joystick. This video has been beyond informative when it came to mapping. I’ve noticed though that during the demo, the controller was also being used. As I’m still working through my recent purchases, (arrived yesterday) I’m wondering if there is a need to use the controller in conjunction with the hotas…unless you can map the hotas to operate all functions without the need to use the joystick.
@@Huddison Thank you for responding…it’s bit of a pain but being realistic, given the various functions within the game, I expected there to be a need to combine the hotas and the controller.
Thanks for the video, Huddison. really appreciated. Thanks also for calling out Microsoft/Asobo/Thurstmaster. Hopefully the groundswell of unhappy customers both here and on the official MSFS forums are enough that they actually listen (for a change). Sadly, as customers... We are treated badly by publishers/Dev's all the damn time. So many malign practices taking advantage of the opaque consumer rights surrounding digital products. They just want the cash, and this ethos of 'We know it's broken, lie, patch it later and release it anyway.' Needs to stop! The bottom line is, we know they will fix it - But at this moment, the Hotas is NOT fit for purpose... Quite frankly, I don't care whose fault it is, it shouldn't happen. All those videos with Jorg Neummann (head of MSFS) banging on about how Hotas One was supported... Yeah, sure thing Walter Mitty!! They either 1) Did not test it 2) Knew it wasn't working and lied. Either way, not good enough.
I had come to almost the exact setup as you have except I like your brake idea on the trigger. Just one other trick I love. I have the B5 button set up for instrument 1 view, then the next and previous scrolling through the instrument views. Totally agree on the patch. This is a joke, it is like they never even played their own game. Inexcusable. Did you ever find a way to get the Smart Look working? I think because it is programmed with a left button shift + another button normally on the controller, a single button command will not work. Another Bug?
Thanks for all your fine videos.I have an issue with the rudder after I land only. The plane does not respond to my Logitech extreme 3D Pro.No issues taxing but on return to the airport it won’t respond to my turns or will but briefly then goes another way.Searched all over on the forums but helpful solution.Any ideas.Thanks.

I would appreciate any help , cheers
Sorry Norman, I would not be best placed to answer you on this one: I have a crappy old second hand 24" 1080p TV that I use for my Series S (Yes I'm badly in need of an upgrade!). Hopefully somebody passes upon this comment and helps you along ;)
I have a Gaming Lab keyboard and wireless mouse as well as the Hotas One. Is it possible to use both the keyboard and the Hotas one when playing MFS 2020?
My default assignments aren’t showing up, so no button is assigned. Is there any quick way to fix this besides going through each and every control I need and assigning it myself?
Are you flying on an Xbox console? I've read that a complete reinstall will bring back your profiles. I do have Hotas One Settings on our Discord also.

So the trick for the buttons that do a lot of repeating is to manually 'Select an Input' and choose what button it should be.. and it will work then? (and not use the search by input?)

Thanks so much, that search via input has helped so much. I have another issue with my hotas, the throttle lever is so loose that it almost falls forward from about 80% to 100% itself and I've had to resort to sticking a piece of thin card into the lever to stiffen it, has anybody else had this issue or have I just got a faulty one?
@Nick ramsdale I finished up getting a couple of small elastic bands around 1" diameter and twisted them around together to give them additional thickness. Then I stretched them over the throttle and simply pressed the sides of the elastic bands into the indents at both sides with my finger nails and it holds just fine. You could put in a stronger spring underneath but it means stripping the base off but I don't want to do that on a couple of weeks old unit. Hope it helps.
I do have issue on the button left and right behind the trust leveler. When I really gentle touch (not pushing) the left button I immediately have the plane moving left on the ground . Do you have the same issue? Any suggestion? Thank you
Does it show a full deflection with a gentle touch under sensitivities? Troubleshooting it might get a bit too involved for youtube comments; you will be best solving this in our Discord. @@TheConrad7011

Good vid and very informative👍
Another great video with some nice settings thanks. Fortunately I can save all the sensitivity settings with the exception of the reactivity on my HOTAS one. Thanks again.
Most welcome
How do you manage to save the sensitivity settings of the hotas one?!🤔😱
I found by changing my power mode on the Xbox series x it will save them. Try this and hope it works for you:
Settings>General>Power mode & startup>Power mode>(change to Instant-on)>When Xbox is off, turn off storage>(untick the box).
I’m prepping to purchase the HOTAS one, I was very upset about the fact I couldn’t use my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Flight Stick.
Yes it would be great if we could've used our existing yokes and flights sticks.
AMAZING! thanx for doing the groundwork. any updates a year later? (im sure ill find a newer video as soon as i type this)
I will put it on my list for an update video.
Thank you. I'll try it all out
I have one coming Tuesday , do I have to do your settings or I just use the default? They might of fixed it
There's no patch on it as yet, so feel free to try my settings and tweak them to your own liking ;)
@@Huddison ok thanks
Will you be doing a new video of the best settings now it has been fixed?. Well the mapping has.
@@1Percyvideos Yes: ua-cam.com/video/6LMxd0OsBYs/v-deo.html ;)
This is hero work!
Great video. The 2nd hot fix is out and they still haven't fixed the Hotas assignment mess.
I know, very frustrating. It seems they want to force Simmers to use the default gamepad.
thank you very much huddison!!!!!
No worries Jesse.
Yes I've found similar.
Any solution/ workaround for us for this problem?
@@markusilgert864 Not yet that I know of.
Great video. I was getting very frustrated with this. I'm sure asobo and MS will have a patch to sort it out.
Let's hope so.
I'm still having problems assigning a button for the spoilers. 😬
Yes that's perfectly normal: see it as setting the ailerons into a turn\bank; you have to move your flight stick the other way to center the aircraft.
Hello everyone,
The developers are aware of this issue and are actively working on a solution at this moment. We will post more information as it becomes available. I am closing this thread for now as no further reports are required.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
This is ⬆️ a reply from Microsoft team on the issues we are facing with Hotas one...
Boa tarde meu amigo! Sou do Brasil! Atualmente as falhas que vc mencionou em seu vídeo há um ano atrás de configuração do eixo já foram regularizadas, ou seja, ao salvar as configurações elas se mantem? Grande abraço!!
Hugs to you too - yes the configs now seem to save just fine.
@@Huddison thank you very much for the feedback. And a big hug from this Brazilian who loves to simulate!
Setting up my hotas one on xbox series x today and it seems none of the mapping issues mentioned here exist anymore.
Yes they sorted out the mapping issues in Sim update.
Sim update 6... 3 months after launch.... and STILL the sensitivity saving is not resolved... although the button mapping issues do appear to have been resolved...
So, should I be spending hours doing this, or bookmark the vids and wait for a patch? Thanks for your service with all these
It's really your choice. It takes me 5 mins or so to set up my sensitivities each time I start the sim; a pain - can't wait for a patch!
Hours?
@@Denzao-D the UI really puts me off. Also, hyperbole exists
@@Huddison I would love to know your usual pedal settings once you do the update video. I ended up splashing for the bundle. Thanks again for everything!
I've been through Thrustmaster and they quite clearly blame MS/Asobo for this mess. Who knows when or who will fix it.
I feel your pain and frustrations - let's hope the next patch addresses this.
Thanks a lot, great Video. You need to study science for this mapping mess. I want my Yoke and Multipanel, please Microsoft 🙏 Any suggestions for the Rudder Pedals and Brakes, can't find a comfortable setting.
I'll be looking into the T-flight Rudder pedals setup etc.
@@Huddison Would be much appreciated 👌
I’ve recently purchased a series x Xbox, flight simulator 2020 & t flight hotas one joystick. This video has been beyond informative when it came to mapping. I’ve noticed though that during the demo, the controller was also being used. As I’m still working through my recent purchases, (arrived yesterday) I’m wondering if there is a need to use the controller in conjunction with the hotas…unless you can map the hotas to operate all functions without the need to use the joystick.
You still require the Xbox gamepad or a mouse to navigate through the menu options, unfortunately.
@@Huddison Thank you for responding…it’s bit of a pain but being realistic, given the various functions within the game, I expected there to be a need to combine the hotas and the controller.
@@birminghamchris9377 We all did.
Now that you've obtained the Thrustmaster pedals, do you still recommend the twist for rudder?
Twist is handy if sat back on the couch; nothing quite beats pedals for proper rudder controls though ;)
@@Huddison so true, I have a full setup on my pc, but not setup yet on my xbox s! Cheers. S
Well said. I also believe in transparency in such matters
I've not actually experimented with Smart Look - if you get it working let us know.
Smart look by default is assigned to the trigger which Huddison has assigned his brakes to.
It's difficult for me to say what the issue could be - head over to the Discord, other people there might've encountered similar issues (link in video description.
Hello again, I am the old guy from about a week ago who tried to setup MSFS 2020 for my grandson but did it all back to front wrong joystick etc ????.
Anyway I now have an Xbox Series X and just received a Thrustmaster Hotas ONE for Xbox X, hooked it up to an older TCL tv which was poor to say the least so I bit the bullet and got the Hisense 55UGD tv , now I am hoping you can point me in the right direction for coupling the TV with the XBOX X.
I would appreciate any help ,
cheers
Sorry Norman, I would not be best placed to answer you on this one: I have a crappy old second hand 24" 1080p TV that I use for my Series S (Yes I'm badly in need of an upgrade!).
Hopefully somebody passes upon this comment and helps you along ;)
I have a Gaming Lab keyboard and wireless mouse as well as the Hotas One. Is it possible to use both the keyboard and the Hotas one when playing MFS 2020?
Yes I do that on my Series S (only I use a wired keyboard).
Thank you sir, appreciated.
U help me so much. Thank you.
But i have still one Problem. Which menu Point or Button do u Klick to Switch between the normal Cockpit View and the higher one 20:45 - 20:47?
Ich cant find it. the higher Cockpit view is Perfect for Landing.
Thank you🙏🙏🙏
Can you please do one on the setting for pc.
I'll be making a video about setting up a hotas from scratch soon on PC - it should relate to the majority of Hotas systems out there.
So the trick for the buttons that do a lot of repeating is to manually 'Select an Input' and choose what button it should be.. and it will work then? (and not use the search by input?)
Search by input works for most assignments, it just may show a different assignment to you, but most buttons still map correctly.
My rocker on the throttle is called Joystick Slider X.. weird that it's different than yours
That is interesting! are you playing on the series S or X?
How do u set reverse thrust ?
Check through my videos - I've a couple on that subject.
I really need help I have the same joystick but for some reason my rudder keeps spinning with just a little touch on the joystick all my settings are easy setting
I think our discord will help you best with this issue: discord.gg/5dsv4d2tEQ
Had an XBOX update when I turned it on just now and when I loaded up flight simulator its now only showing 5 axis to edit on the hotas one instead of the 8 or 12 there was before. It still doesn't save them, but maybe a fix is incoming?
Interesting - maybe a fix is on it's way!
My rudder seems to have a mind of its own no matter what the sensitivity I add or take from it. It works occasionally but it’s driving me mad
With the Hotas One? We're probably all best waiting for the, hopefully, inevitable patch.
Unfortunately the potentiometers Thrustmaster use in this HOTAS are not the best. If you look on UA-cam there are plenty of videos on how to clean them with cleaning alcohol which makes a massive improvement.
💪🏼👍
Am I able to remap the front throttle rocker switch to control the rudder instead of the trim nose up and down?
Yes, just map the rocker as rudder axis.
Thanks for the timely reply. Cheers 🍻
Great video im suprised you didn’t touch up on the rudder being soo damn sensitive when you twist on the hotas joystick. A little bit more manageable on the gamepad but still an issue. Do you have any work arounds that?
With the right sensitivities settings, I find the twist-rudder is fairly good. I did show that in this video.
I fly the A320 but the CLB positioning is always toward the front of the handle. How can I change the positioning of the CLB setting to be more towards the middle? Thanks
Is it safe to unplug the hotas from my Xbox when I’m playing other games because I don’t feel like recalibrating it over and over again
Yes your settings will save in MSFS.
Does the more negative and positive you go make it more or less sensitive?
In sensitivities? Yes.
As always really helpful vid, I am still really struggling to get my hat switch to pan though.. must be doing something wrong but can't figure out what

Sorry for my english but i gave my Sensitivity at the 5 axxis in the diagramm and save it. Make the button setup and savit. When i make the series s out and on is the sensitivity on standart...all parameters lost....what is it....can you help me?
You lose all settings when you restart MSFS? If so, that's the result we're all having currently unfortunately.
The throttle lever is absolute crap with zero resistance. I'm going to try a couple of elastic bands!
@@petercossins7723 I agree, if you come up with something that works, let me know.
@@petercossins7723 Thanks I'll give that a go .
I do have issue on the button left and right behind the trust leveler. When I really gentle touch (not pushing) the left button I immediately have the plane moving left on the ground . Do you have the same issue? Any suggestion? Thank you
The rocker switch you mean? Sounds like you have it bound to Rudders.
Yes, the problem is that if I touch gently It simulates a full push
Does it show a full deflection with a gentle touch under sensitivities?
