Great story! In 89, cell phones weren’t common & 2way pagers didn’t exist yet, the gravity of being stuck in an extremely active rival area without an option to call/text for a ride/help & being unarmed could have permanent life altering consequences. Now, people can call/text/facetime/drop a pin & hopefully have help in area asap.
@@justJohnBlaze very true, something spontaneous may happen when a person doesn’t have time to call/react & cell phones don’t always work but cell phones weren’t even an option 35 years ago for the vast majority of people.
I remember when I was coming up the RTD used to break down in so-called enemy hoods and the drivers used to make us all get off to wait for another bus to come it used to be going down life and death situations in a real way

I grew up on 55th street Vermont & Hoover. All they talk about is catching a R60 like a damn unicorn. Those "S" Mariners caps are like target practice over there, they smell it like blood in the water to JAWS. One of my childhood friends was from SIX-OWE I hated going anywhere with his a$$. His apparel always gave him away...
@ KEV MAC I noticed you have been in some Historical Damn places at times. You said you were heading to the Menlos to see if your Homie was there . Was the 8 TRAYS still popping up over there looking for the 60's to be over there?💯🍺
It's me again Mac. i started elementary at Raymond Ave + in 3rd grade I went to Hyde Park (10th Ave + HPark) with iSmooth-7, Lil Cartoon (dK), Monte +Donate Jackson, JT (rip) and hustlin' ass Lil Craig. but 4th-6th we moved to 62nd between Menlo+Hoover. I had 3 houses full of cousins from Hoover on the same street. U had Bob 1+2, SnakeEye (G), Lil Red who got killed in front of it house + another older cousin who's name I can't recall. Then OG Blue (the boxer) + his brother Rodney next door. I used to walk to that laundry mat on Hoover pulling a big red wagon full of dirty clothes. These moves came from my moms, my gmom never moved from Hobart, in case i confused u.
🔵 Excellent story . Reminds me of Denzel in Training Day trapped in the Jungles . But on a more personal note try smaccing LoLo's with your rival(s) on the way into a parking garage at an ICE CUBE concert . #driVingondrumbrakesaintthemoVeafterjustwashingyour64impala
This some real life LA shit. The only time I ever took a hat off was in the sixties hood. I had on a Astros hat and the jacket to match..(shit was cool in 2005)…but man this is a dope story. If you know you know
