I was just thinking of buying this book and you helped me with my decision. I love how leonardo lived his life by exploring and trying different things and pursued it because of the mere pleasure of the knowledge he gained

I have completed 400 pages and I have raised one question that Leonardo says "simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" but he always wore colorful clothes.just a curiosity question 😊

That's a great observation! To me, what he means is more a mindset -- we tend to overcomplicate things when the most elegant and practical solutions are often the simplest. I think this is separate from having the self-confidence to do what is authentic to you -- including wearing colorful clothing if that's what you like. :)

The people of the times often dyed their clothes with new pigments bought, sold, and traded throughout the whole of Italy and Rome. Da Vinci's quote is rather a take on another saying, "two steps forward, one step back." In moving forward to change the world, one must look at the world in it's simplicity and form. When one looks at a bird, they see an avian creature covered with feathers, two wings, and a tail. The marvels of invention and creation, start with simplicity - then slowly expand from the base form. This concept can be seen in the television series Da Vinci's Demons. It's a great television series with 3 seasons, and really should be seen by all who want to learn a bit of back-story and history of not only Da Vinci, but the Medici family history, and the wars that circulated around that time. Lest us not forget about the Ottoman Empire.

Wow thank you so much for the helpful context! I'm definitely going to check out the television series as well.
