Every ATEEZ song is a banger, and while I'm biased because I like them, the most anyone's ever said is that a particular song wasn't their style. Since ATEEZ has so many styles among their discography, though, it's hard not to find something (or lots of things!) to like. As others have said, the song debuted on Kingdom, and then half a year later they made it into a full-fledged MV and it was released on their last album in the Fever series, the Epilogue. Kingdom saw them perform three of their own songs (Wonderland, Answer, The Real (and intro Wave, massively modified)) in really new and different ways from the original song releases, each furthering their sound and lore. I'd recommend watching Answer next, along with Hala Hala, the original Wonderland if you haven't seen it, and Say My Name. Glad you're enjoying them! Thanks for your reaction. He's the one who hit the 4-octave run in the Kingdom performance, and is responsible for most of the high, held vocal notes. He's also stupidly strong, and he breaks apples with his hands (ending). Finally, our bird of peace, Yeosang (11:09) who has a surprisingly low voice considering his absolutely angelic appearance. A few people have told me that the instruments are Korean, and I don't disagree. But the main melody and the scale/progression of the music is middle eastern in flavour, at least in my opinion. This is common across kpop songs I have experienced, boombayah, Lisa's verse in HYLT etc. It's not meant in disrespect, there are certain melodies and musical stylings that pertain to certain places. Heaps of cultures borrow from eachother. I love this song, thanks for watching.

I'm not saying you are wrong but it's possible Koreans melody sound similar to other cultures, but it is different from the other songs you named in the sense that those did not revolve around Korean culture. Sadly, middle eastern sounds are more known around the world that Korean traditional ones so it makes sense someone would think its otherwise. The song: 멋 is a Korean word without a direct English equivalent--real, style, and cool are attempts to catch the meaning, but it has an underlying idea of honor, so it's about how what's really cool/stylish is to be humble, respectful*, and kind. *Bowing is one way Koreans show respect which is why there was a lot of bowing and sayings like lower your head and bend down as you mature. Fun fact: Korean has multiple dialects with the Seoul dialect being the standard--it's what Korean language learners are taught. In the song when the music stops, the member speaks in his dialect (most Ateez members are from the countryside but have been trained to speak Seoul dialect in their content), kind of like if someone spoke with a southern drawl and the next person spoke with a Jersey accent. Anyway, the song is kind of saying no matter how big you get or how great you think you are you need to be humble, kind, and keep it real. The video: Appears to be based on Volcano High, a popular Korean movie in 2001 about a transfer student with special powers who ends up at a school with warring factions who are trying to find a book of power. Ateez's twist--The book they find when they put their powers together is a book about 멋. (If you want more details watch Form of Therapy's reaction). So the members from different groups, Baseball, Calligraphy, and Bikers were trying to convince Mingi, the transfer student, to join their group. According to ATEEZ, the one on the sidelines (first wearing black later wearing white) was the representative of peace which is why he doesn't come in until the fighting is over. Also, I heard someone say that the book tucked into Mingi's pants was a morality textbook, so his morals protected him from the other students punch. At the end of the performance and MV, Jongho splits an apple in half with his hands. Pre-debut a video of him singing ballads with super high notes as he split apples went viral. I think it was their way of saying be true to yourself. The Real was originally released as the finale song for Kingdom Legendary War. It's a great live performance. Unfortunately, Mingi, the deep voiced rapper, was on hiatus during KLW. In December, they released this song, the Heung version, which has more Korean instruments to perform it with Mingi. Just like Mingi (the low tone rapper) would say 'Fix On!' almost everytime before he raps in the songs. BTW sweetie, it's not middle eastern u hear, it's actually traditional Korean music. The song is about being as humble as u can be. That's why they speak about bowing at a 90 degree angle...bowing that low shows how humble u are and all ur respect to whom u are bowing to. ATEEZ is relatively new compared to say Twice, BTS, Got7, and well the rest of 3rd Gen of k pop. They are part of several groups that started the 4th generation of k pop. Which includes Stray Kids, ITZY, Aespa, and several others. The fandom name for ATEEZ is ATINY (combo of ATEEZ and DesTINY). ATEEZ itself means that they have everything to give from A to Z. Or an acronym for A TEEnager Z. When they all started they were still teenagers. But the age range between them is the smallest of any group, with only 2 and half years separating all 8 members. Hell 5 of them were born in 99. The 2 oldest in 97, and the youngest 2000. So....very small compared all the rest. So the members are: 1. Just a heads up, the song doesn't have middle eastern sound, it's all Korean culture influenced, and Korean instruments, also the performance is very Korean and it's hard to understand from non Koreans. Also the microphones are put there cause they make a Korean symbol, at the end the sings mean "Kingdom groups you all did great, let's have dinner" there are a lot of hidden meanings in everything in this stage. The MV was inspired by a Japanese 90s movie.

The instruments in this song are Korean, the song is very influenced by Korean culture as the lyrics also involve Korean idioms.
A few people have told me that the instruments are Korean, and I don't disagree. But the main melody and the scale/progression of the music is middle eastern in flavour, at least in my opinion. This is common across kpop songs I have experienced, boombayah, Lisa's verse in HYLT etc. It's not meant in disrespect, there are certain melodies and musical stylings that pertain to certain places. Heaps of cultures borrow from eachother. I love this song, thanks for watching.
@@PetesVideos They use music from their traditional culture called pansori and samulnori, they even include the Korean performers of these dances/music in their live performances of this song. I'm not saying you are wrong but it's possible Koreans melody sound similar to other cultures, but it is different from the other songs you named in the sense that those did not revolve around Korean culture. Sadly, middle eastern sounds are more known around the world that Korean traditional ones so it makes sense someone would think its otherwise. @Tama it’s more Spanish than Middle Eastern, the song was heavily influenced with Spanish sounds as they said they were inspired when they visited Spain
The song: 멋 is a Korean word without a direct English equivalent--real, style, and cool are attempts to catch the meaning, but it has an underlying idea of honor, so it's about how what's really cool/stylish is to be humble, respectful*, and kind. *Bowing is one way Koreans show respect which is why there was a lot of bowing and sayings like lower your head and bend down as you mature. Fun fact: Korean has multiple dialects with the Seoul dialect being the standard--it's what Korean language learners are taught. In the song when the music stops, the member speaks in his dialect (most Ateez members are from the countryside but have been trained to speak Seoul dialect in their content), kind of like if someone spoke with a southern drawl and the next person spoke with a Jersey accent. Anyway, the song is kind of saying no matter how big you get or how great you think you are you need to be humble, kind, and keep it real.
The video: Appears to be based on Volcano High, a popular Korean movie in 2001 about a transfer student with special powers who ends up at a school with warring factions who are trying to find a book of power. Ateez's twist--The book they find when they put their powers together is a book about 멋. (If you want more details watch Form of Therapy's reaction). So the members from different groups, Baseball, Calligraphy, and Bikers were trying to convince Mingi, the transfer student, to join their group. According to ATEEZ, the one on the sidelines (first wearing black later wearing white) was the representative of peace which is why he doesn't come in until the fighting is over.
Also, I heard someone say that the book tucked into Mingi's pants was a morality textbook, so his morals protected him from the other students punch. At the end of the performance and MV, Jongho splits an apple in half with his hands. Pre-debut a video of him singing ballads with super high notes as he split apples went viral. I think it was their way of saying be true to yourself.
The Real was originally released as the finale song for Kingdom Legendary War. It's a great live performance. Unfortunately, Mingi, the deep voiced rapper, was on hiatus during KLW. In December, they released this song, the Heung version, which has more Korean instruments to perform it with Mingi. So the Kingdom version was the OG and the MV was the second version. They also performed the heung version for last year's MAMA awards.

Hongjoong's laugh before his rap, is a signature as a rapper. Just like Mingi (the low tone rapper) would say 'Fix On!' almost everytime before he raps in the songs. And the way Hongjoong laughs, is stick to their pirate concept, which he tried to sound like the creepy laugh of a pirate. Hope you enjoy their music!

BTW sweetie, it's not middle eastern u hear, it's actually traditional Korean music. The song is about being as humble as u can be. That's why they speak about bowing at a 90 degree angle...bowing that low shows how humble u are and all ur respect to whom u are bowing to.
ATEEZ is relatively new compared to say Twice, BTS, Got7, and well the rest of 3rd Gen of k pop. They are part of several groups that started the 4th generation of k pop. Which includes Stray Kids, ITZY, Aespa, and several others. The fandom name for ATEEZ is ATINY (combo of ATEEZ and DesTINY). ATEEZ itself means that they have everything to give from A to Z. Or an acronym for A TEEnager Z. When they all started they were still teenagers. But the age range between them is the smallest of any group, with only 2 and half years separating all 8 members. Hell 5 of them were born in 99. The 2 oldest in 97, and the youngest 2000. So....very small compared all the rest.
So the members are:
1. Hongjoong-leader, composer, producer, beat maker, main rapper, demon
2. Seonghwa-oldest, visual, vocalist, demon
3. Yunho-main dancer, vocalist
4. Yeosang-vocalist, dancer
5. San-vocalist, dancer, demon
6. Mingi-rapper, main dancer, (he wasn't in the preformance, but was in the video. Very tall rapper)

8. Junho-maknae (youngest), power vocalist(range is amazing) fruit ninja, can split apples in two with his bare hands...as well as watermelons, catelope and any other melon you put in front of him, fruit ninja, or also he is the "maknae on top."
Now when I used the word Demon for San, Seonghwa and Hongjoong is because off stage they are both very down to earth, sweet, and very kind individuals. Once they hit that stage, and this actually goes for the whole group, but these three, they can actually look like demons. The music comes on and all bets are off.
Please do yourself a favor, watch a guide for references for their faces to their names...not to mention you will see and hear what I just gave you about the guys....
One last thing Wooyoung has a very big circle of idol friends, however one of his best friends, beside San, is Changbin of Stray Kids. He even left a stage once telling the audience that Changbin was his, not theirs.
ATEEZ burst onto the scene in April of 2018, when their company KQ Entertainment released 4, 1 minute dance video's of the guys dancing to American hip hop. And they were called KQ FELKAS after their company and before they officially had a name, so that's why they changed it

Just a heads up, the song doesn't have middle eastern sound, it's all Korean culture influenced, and Korean instruments, also the performance is very Korean and it's hard to understand from non Koreans. Also the microphones are put there cause they make a Korean symbol, at the end the sings mean "Kingdom groups you all did great, let's have dinner" there are a lot of hidden meanings in everything in this stage.
The MV was inspired by a Japanese 90s movie.
