You guys are amazing! Would you talk about how to find a cowriter if you don't live in LA or Nashville? I've literally written thousands of lyrics- a few I believe will move people- but I am NOT strong with melodies. I've found local songwriting groups to be, ummm, SO novice that it's not helpful at all.
Great stuff guys...I've really never thought that much about my weaknesses. I have always been a lyric grinder...I almost never have to grind on my melodies, so I guess I've answered my own dag gum question...lol...! Thanks for all of your awesome insight y'all. Cheers
Very helpful comments. Hard to argue with “If you were world class at both melody and lyrics your songs would be on the radio”. I appreciate how practical your advice is.
Great episode. I find that I spend a lot of time on the details and there will be something I don't like, it doesn't "feel right" but I don't know what it is and I spend time working it out, like a bubble in window film. I am just not fast at it and there are a lot of bubbles 🤣 Episodes like this help me get one step closer to my songwriter wings, thanks Marty & Clay!!

Blind STUD,,,my song about a house who was blind,,,true story,,,
For sure..I do very few songs I wrote in the 70’s
I guess this means I should listen to a few songs that have been written in this century…
Ha!

Many of our SongTown members write via zoom. It's a great community to find co-writers.
