    I am returning to the days in 1969 when I purchased my first and only SLR, a Honeywell Pentax H1a fully-manually operated camera. I loved it then for the control and simplicity of it and am enjoying the challenges it provides in taking film pictures today, only with more lenses than I had back then. Thank you for a fine explanation of vintage SLR film cameras as you have in this video. Great job.

    Thanks for the great video! I recently started getting into wanting to do film photography. I have my dads tlb. Your video helped a lot with helping me understand the basics of it. I still have lots to learn and will definitely be looking at more of your content to help me on that journey.

    I’ve wanted to use my grandpa’s old Petri camera since 2014, but I was told it didn’t work. I got the camera for decoration anyway, and I was about to put a new roll of film in my Canon EOS 700 but I decided to just see for myself if it doesn’t work. I put the film in and it worked! I didn’t advance it more than twice, but I got a cheap Kodak UltraMax pack and thought I’d mess around with it. The aperture is sorta broken and the light metre doesn’t work, but I still wanted to see if anything would come out. I think I figured out how to use it, as the Canon one is practically all automatic so I don’t have experience with manual cameras, but I’m just watching some videos to make sure I got it right. Thanks for this :)

    I’ve just bought a canon at-1 and was really excited to see you have one too! Question: above the mirror inside is some foam and mine looks as though it’s been mostly ripped out. Will this make a huge difference to my photos? You mentioned the light seals were important for the film compartment. Is it just as important for the front of the camera too? Many thanks.

      As previously mentioned thats a bumper to stop the mirror slapping against the camera body, so wont actually affect image quality, but should still be in good condition to protect the mirror

    Hey Noah, love your videos and I'm learning a lot from them, but just wondering what your opinion of the Canon EOS line of film SLRs is?
    I acquired a few of these as a job lot from ebay and part of the reason i bought them was because they're compatible with the EF mount lenses that my Canon DSLR uses, but I'm wondering how these cameras compare to other film SLRs.
    Would you consider doing a video comparing different brands/lines of Film SLRs?

    I just got my first film camera and it's exactly like yours here. I recently found out that even though I'm not using the camera, the battery inside is still draining out as if the light meter is still consuming energy even though I had covered the lens.
    Does that just how it work and should I take out the battery out when I'm not using it or is it a technical problem?

    • @AnalogResurgence
      @AnalogResurgence 2 роки тому

      On many cameras that’s just how it works. Keeping the lens cap in while not in use preserves the battery life because there’s no light for the meter to react to.

    6:55 And if you try and force it after exposure number 36, it snaps your film. Not pressing the film unlock switch also snaps your film, not fun lmao. I have some manual winder cameras and I've thankfully only done it twice. I've also accidentally wound the wrong way, and that somehow snapped the film too...

    WoW, What a coincidence! I wasn't looking for your video here on UA-cam but instead - I was looking how to get good bocha with the 35mm lens that I have with my AT-1... By cranking down the lens ring (aperture) to 1. ...what ever it is, I would think that would provide this... The other is something you mentioned about the light meter inside the camera. As long as both needles inside the view finder are at the same and the (battery) gauge needle is in the middle of the "O" of the other needle, Then the photo should turn out properly exposed? I would assume that they should be both in the middle of the screen and as well in the middle of each other? I really would like to correspond with you as you are the ONLY person I've come across that uses this SLR... Great video too, btw!!

    • @AnalogResurgence
      @AnalogResurgence 5 років тому +2

      Unfortunately no, Kodak seems happy to have announced it and just tease it and release a few for people to show off but not actually detail a full release. Over a year ago they said it would be available later in 2018. Most recent news from months ago was that the cost for one sits around $2500.

    Hey Noah,
    Bought some film for my one step 2, and on the back, It says that It can expose me to titanium dioxide. Can I get cancer from polaroids?

    • @AnalogResurgence
      @AnalogResurgence 5 років тому +2

      I would say its really not much of a concern. Polaroids do have active photo chemicals inside of them that get spread over the image when developing, BUT these chemicals are contained in the image and dry over time. If for any reason a polaroid's chemicals leak onto you then just washing it off thoroughly will be fine.

    I am a beginner for this analog camera, i used to take pic and videos with mirrorless gh5
    and I'm still confuse, and have a question. maybe you can help me out?
    so i used 200 iso film and the location is outdoor ( daylight )
    and then i still want to shoot a bokeh portrait or the lowest aperture, but the thing is the light meter is still go all away up
    which that means its too bright right? so i set the shutter to the highest, but the light meter still showed that its still overexposed
    so should i set the iso down to 100? is there any problem if i set it to 100?
    or is there any other solution?
    thank youuuuuu
