Really interesting point mate...clear as day, no damp there! Perhaps it's to do with the type of brick as you mentioned. Softer clays vs engineering maybe. I remember watching the "Skill builder" UA-cam channel regarding rising damp. He seems to have some really valid points explaining why it's a thing. Hope your well mate and enjoying the "Summer" so far😂
@@bricklayersworldwithandy6277 He also wandered around a beautiful Dutch town saying English bond was Flemish and Flemish was English. It's worth a watch because of the brickwork however.
Every time I've seen it... when the cavity is full from the footing ti above the damp.... fired clay don't let water in.....maybe through tge mortar bed... but it's always a filled cavity... if its not another cause
Yes ive seen that, strange as the mortar should be the same porosity as the bricks so it would have to be a weaker mix to allow the passage of moisture.
@bricklayersworldwithandy6277 . clay isn't porus... as we know.... but maybe the compo mix is.... over time and a full cavity also breached into the inside leaf... ... I don't know just speculating
A soft red will suck a pint of water up easy. Not sure on a pint or beer? Lol. Be a waste. Damp sure so many factors. Leaking guttering or broken guttering the biggest cause. Did a re-point in lime mortar and put weep vents in the purps outside low down. Wall breaths and really helps. Customer has no damp at all
Building engineers and inspectors taking pure bollocks, well said andy ,mold and damp is caused because people are too @ucken cheap To buy oil to heat their house
Leonard Rossiter ........ Great actor . 🤣🏴
Brick are sponges. Engineered brick are made to stop water egress. Horses for courses and all that
Repointing house built in lime mortar with sand and cement is the biggest problem on most houses. Then the big Scam comes of injecting rods
Andy is the super trowel being live streamed this year.
I really dont know mate, ive had nothing to do with it.
@@bricklayersworldwithandy6277 sound Andy . 👍
Very good point Andy never thought of that before with brickwork built in rivers etc
Very Concisely Put.
Totally agree, it's a myth 👍

I will do another vid on softer bricks that should soak up water, unfortunately Roger thrives on being controversial for views.

@@user-lc7xb5ch5t Yes but for different reasons on modern builds which i will go into on the next vid 👍
Rising Damp is an industry, not a physical thing.
If you have damp walls, you have a source of water that shouldn't be there.
That’s a good point sir
Yeah very good point Andy when you think about it 👍🏻
That river needs some barley straw in it.
Good point mate 🤔🧱👍🏽

No such thing as rising damp its more to do with condesation lack of or blocked air bricks. To much plastic in houses now
you are right andy
Wondering how you came to that conclusion.
Depends on the Swans
Totally agree 👍
Perfect argument
Surely it depends on the bricks and the gobbo used
@@johnhaydon4055 I will show more in another vid shortly 👍
Controversial ɓut correct.
👍 you legend Andy!! Couldn’t agree more! I’m off to show this video to Mr Roger Frisby! 😂
