I believe Robert had more plans for characters like Terra and Markus but had to cut the comic short because Ryan Ottley was leaving the book. The show has the opportunity to show us more of Markus, Terra, and the coalition vs invincible stuff.

Idk why people dislike Terra so much. She actively avoided to use her status to gain favoritism. She saw no one "beneath" her as Mark would say, making friends with everyone and not acting superior to other Viltrumites depite her royal status. Actively did superhero duty despite not really needing to and constantly saved planets. Her points of criticism are: "Helping the coalition of planets". Which she didn't. She sat down the war because she didn't agree with the methods that Mark was using. That's something I see young Mark doing, like, how many fights with Cecil he had for his methods. "Not spending time on Earth". Which makes sense. She's a literal alien that can fly across planets with futuristic technology, there's literally nothing for her on Earth. (Which yeah, is ironic considering that's her namesake). And that was during her early teen years. It's the equivalent of visiting that family that lives in a small town away from your friends. She has a younger sibling she doesn't like, which is normal between siblings. Can't imagine Mark helped establish a proper relationship between them. All in all, Terra lacks maturity, but she seems to be a grounded person and inherited both her parents kind heart.

If you think about it the whole Invincible story is Mark coming to terms with what his father told him when they fight, that they are above the doubt and weaknesses of the other races and that they know the way to lead them to greatness and it proofs when he time and time again tries to do better and be the good guy and a lot of people dies as consequence that is why even when Mark is a good guy he ends up being the Emperor and things go his way.
To be fair, Mark could've just as well gotten Terra a Civilian identity to live with her boyfriend on Earth. She doesn't have tk be a princess all her life. (Mark also wasn't always an Emperor.) It would've been interesting to see, if her boyfriend dated her for herself, or for her status. Even though the latter is much more likely. Of course it'd be another thing entirely, if the guy was a drug addict, radical, or a terrible influence altogether. It would've been much better if Mark just made it clear, that Terra can't have both her royal status, and her regular boyfriend at the same time.

Idk why people dislike Terra so much. She actively avoided to use her status to gain favoritism. She saw no one "beneath" her as Mark would say, making friends with everyone and not acting superior to other Viltrumites depite her royal status. Actively did superhero duty despite not really needing to and constantly saved planets.
Her points of criticism are:
"Helping the coalition of planets". Which she didn't. She sat down the war because she didn't agree with the methods that Mark was using. That's something I see young Mark doing, like, how many fights with Cecil he had for his methods.
"Not spending time on Earth". Which makes sense. She's a literal alien that can fly across planets with futuristic technology, there's literally nothing for her on Earth. (Which yeah, is ironic considering that's her namesake). And that was during her early teen years. It's the equivalent of visiting that family that lives in a small town away from your friends.
She has a younger sibling she doesn't like, which is normal between siblings. Can't imagine Mark helped establish a proper relationship between them.
All in all, Terra lacks maturity, but she seems to be a grounded person and inherited both her parents kind heart.

Also, kinda hard to worry about your dad when he's the leader of the most powerful army and he's the strongest being in the universe. She didn't sided with anyone, she thought that declaring War on the Coalition of Planets wasn't right, specially because the Coalition is composed of many of her and her fathers old friends. The war was dumb and she didn't want in on it.

If you think about it the whole Invincible story is Mark coming to terms with what his father told him when they fight, that they are above the doubt and weaknesses of the other races and that they know the way to lead them to greatness and it proofs when he time and time again tries to do better and be the good guy and a lot of people dies as consequence that is why even when Mark is a good guy he ends up being the Emperor and things go his way.
