Pick your clubs, pick your shaft and pick your ball. I play a mixed set of Apex Pro’s and TCB’s with Aerotech shafts and either a ProV1 or TP5. I will play the “X” balls depending on wind. I just purchased the Apex Ai200’s. So far I like them.
My trusty blades keep getting better and better. You get what you earn and know what you get with pure, honest feedback. Some of the new irons being released don’t seem to be too convincing. Great point about the lack of offset in long irons and the short irons having too much. Should definitely be reversed. Great analysis and I wonder which company will be first to get that done. Thanks again, Lads.
I wish you would do a video comparing the durability of forged irons vs cast irons for their grooves! I go with cast because I can’t buy new irons as often as I would really wish. Can’t wait for the Ti Fusion review!
@@patrickhockey615 Yes and that's been Titleist/Vokey's justification for not forging their wedges. Less relevant on the clubs that have less loft though & probably irrelevant unless you're pounding hundreds of range rocks a day. I have MP-32s in my garage with hundreds of rounds on them and the grooves are as good as ever, outside of a few dings.
Great video and great iron. I have the custom Blue MIM weight coming in mine! These irons are more consistent than anything that I have hit and i'm getting out of my p790s.
Callaway will not change the weight port in the back, they are all 7 grams, sent my set back as swingweights were all over the place and they had no replacements, they had to take the tip weights out.
@@lawbinson Right, my wedge play and off game off the tee is indicative of a + Handicap, but my putting and iron play leaves a lot to be desired, no handicap is the same!
I'd definitely check out the robot testing that Cool Clubs did this week on ai200 and compare it to their robot testing on Apex 21 (non pro). The distance dispersion (long and short, aka north south) does not look too great on these new ai200 and ai300 irons compared to the Apex 21 non pro model irons. The new ai200 and ai300 definitely go further than Apex 21 since the new irons are hollow body designs, but that may not be want you want.
@@kevinoneill2170 Used to be interested in those but those guys lost me when they didn’t seem to appreciate the difference between AoA and Dynamic Loft.
I think the Apex 21 (non pro) are difficult to beat when it comes to consistency of distance when hit from various parts of the face (left, center, right and high, low). If you have seen the robot testing that Cool Clubs did on their channel and website, no other clubs are as consistent as the Apex 21 other than Miura blades. The new Apex definitely go further, but they are very different hollow body design than the Apex 21.
You guys do a great job and I feel like you are fair to all of the manufactures. In the case of these Irons I just cant do it the feel isnt there. The hollow body design is just not for me. This is true for the TM and Ping club as well. Keep up the good work.
The local price of the Apex AI 200 in Australia is $2,449 for 4-PW. The Apex 21 model is $1,500. Surely no amount of new " AI tech" can justify that price jump? Madness.
Theyre rockets haha tried them in the shop a few weeks back when the rep brought them in. 7 iron was still in the air at 193 when it hit the top of a tree behind the hole 😂
Hi Ian! Nicely done. Starting to rethink my iron choices after 60 years, HaHa, and I think these Apex irons might be right in my wheelhouse. Why, height, distance, feel and if actually looks like an Apex. What do you recommend from the PW at 43 degrees and down??
1:12 honestly I think it should be more standard to let a model "live" for 3-4 years instead of putting out a new model every year that's only barely different than the previous model.
The CF 16’s were the worst quality of iron I’ve ever owned. Other than the OH 2014 Apex. Badges falling off, club chatter, and browning after a couple of months. Never bought another Callaway product.
My Apex Pro 19s were a quality disaster as well. Browning, peeling chrome, glue leaking out from awful stickers in the cavity etc. 21s were a bit better but worse performance than the 19s. The latest ones you can see the cavity out the back of the Pros, ridiculous.
This is the first video on this channel where I’ve thought they really don’t like these but can’t actually say it.
“Definitely, definitely” - Ian 😂
If this was Kirkland, they would’ve crucified these clubs.
Also love to see you change the weights in them and see the ball flight/spin differences.
how was the front to back dispersion? another test i saw had surprising results.

Can’t wait to see some comparisons to other similar clubs. Maybe a guest mid handicap iron fitting?

They look nice but definitely the better player would like the Apex Pro series more. The low handicap consumers want the updated TCB’s.

You are saying cast lasts longer than forged?
These guys don’t play a set of irons long enough for that 😂
@@patrickhockey615 I believe so, but that’s why I asked.

Ti fusion soon?
Hi Ian, what kind of sneaker are you wearing here ?? thx
i cant get Apex 21s custom so i'm looking at a 200/300 combo..my Question is..2° weaker lofts to get some more traditional iron distances?
Bummer, my timing is off as I just got fitted at CC Charlotte and received my new irons a week ago and would have liked these as an option...
Callaway will not change the weight port in the back, they are all 7 grams, sent my set back as swingweights were all over the place and they had no replacements, they had to take the tip weights out.
Could a mid-low handicap with a fast swing speed play these? Or will dispersion vary too much with a faster swing speed?
More about your delivery consistency and quality of strike than handicap.

How similar are these to the Apex 2021s (non-pro). I was thinking of getting the pros but mine still are fine and I love the forgiveness they provide

Any chance you can do a video comparing older iron models (within the same family) to newer versions? Would love to see how the data compares.
They don't do that. Club champion doesnt carry old models.
Nice looking. Finally a Cally product without the gimmicky inserts or cheap graphics. Well done.
I think I was the 1st appointment to try these in a fitting with Mike (yesterday)
And how did it go?

Two gap wedges! 🤣 😂 😆 Now Cally just sold you an extra club! But, really though, should drop the 4i at those lofts.
I looked at the loft on pw n knowing Ian I said 137 carry 😎

Guys is this a DCB replacement?
This is a replacement for standard Apex 21. Ai300 is the replacement for DCB

These peak heights are not very consistent. All tests, from multiple reviews, seem to indicate that these just aren't very consistent irons.
