The opening number alone rocks harder than most other bands’ entire careers. Astounding.
TOO true! Hello, GNR???
Timeless hits!!!
amen
@@Signal_Glow WHOOSH! I was talking to THEM!
@@Signal_Glow Seriously? GNR!!! They weren't even close!
99% of the audience had no idea what just hit them. The remaining 1% knew they were in the presence of legendary rock history..
That one percent was the girl with the long hair at 30:31 shaking it around in a circle!! She definitely knew it 😂
@@scottbistransky4682 And the Angus look-a-like on the balcony! :D
I heard this about European audiences and to watch this band just scorch the earth with killer, (and I imagine loud af) rock and roll and they give polite golf claps is amazing. I would have been going crazy dancing and such as a young lad listening to this in house.
Mate they were nailed to there seats ahahha! Boring af!
Spot on ;) And a great video!
Dude, it's 2023 and this still kick ass. AC fckng DC
Although their greater success came after Bon died I will forever believe that this is AC/DC at their very best
True! And Bon is said to have had his fingers in some of the song writing for "Back In Black". This album was the carbon copy for anything that followed and nothing of that was really good. Bon is missing.
100% agreed Carmaine. Taking nothing away from the Brian Johnson era, who stated "I wasn't brought in to repalce Bon Scott. I'm here because Bon is here no more, except in spirit." (Rock and Roll Hall of fame acceptance speech) Rock on Bon!!!!
I agree !!!
There are many that think the same
Bon was AC-DC
Whoever upscaled and fixed the video and audio deserves a fucking oscar !
F.. yeah
👍
If those were awarded based on merit he just might get one.
Something better, Oscars go to sell outs
100% agree with you!
It doesn't get much better than this, 40 minutes of give it all you got live, no nonsense, high energy playing. No autotune, no fancy effects, just loud, hard rocking, tight playing. AC/DC in their glorious heyday.
Well said mate, couldn't agree more 😈😈😈
Yessss You Right
Boomer moment
Yep, Angus once described his guitar sound as a Gibson plugged into a Marshall. When asked about effects pedals he said that he didn’t need them, he was the effect.
No! ✓✓¥° zgzwow stealitor LetGod giveit!
There isnt a ‘Hell Aint a Bad Place To Be’ live version better than this one. Bon Scott hitting the notes perfectly, its almost absurd how much of an incredible singer he was. This music will live on forever
Totally agree, the rhythm of this song and his voice doesn’t get much better🔥
..@@dallasmitchell6999 love his bagpipe performances too.....
Probably one of my fav songs from that Era Bon had ...I often wonder how it would have sounded if bon had hung around till the late 80s and 90s
More energy in one song than in Oasis’ entire career.

They stepped in at the last minute for this show. The Alex Harvey Band were originally playing. The audience had no idea who AC/DC were. I grabbed two tickets outside the theatre - great show and I met Bon after.

Phil Rudd are playing a 4/4 on Let There Be Rock without missing a beat or tempo. He was a beast.
(most drummers are playing it in 2/4)..
For exercise as a drummer I play along in head in 4/4 and it is punishing. It is pretty long track with no breaks of any consequence for the drummer. Superb track to get the juices going. It gets better with age and this version is superb.
These people have no idea how lucky they are/were, what I’d give to see them live like this
I saw them open for Aerosmith two years after this. Had never heard of them before. Obviously I was blown away (and they blew Aerosmith off the stage too).
Thank God for the Internet. Without it. My sons would have no idea what they missed out on. They don’t believe half my stories of my concert adventures.
My youngest is very interested in the classics. He learned to play “thunderstruck”. After I showed him the “let there be rock” concert video, that was on UA-cam. Now he is currently trying to learn “come as you are” by Nirvana. He also got “7 nation army” down. He is 13.
Man AC/DC! No background singers, no trumpets, no violin players, no hammond organ, no extra show PURE Rock n Roll
Bagpipes! Bagpipes! I love the Bagpipes. AC/DC was First Rock Band to incorporate that. Is that the English in them? I heard an Irish Rock Band play with an accordion at an Irish Festival one time in Saratoga Springs, NY that were phenomenal. I wonder if they were local or from out of town. I wish I had a video phone then to have recorded the show.

Unfortunately only memories now and thanks to the video we can still see this wonderful time in great music which is no longer with us and doubt it will ever be repeated.
Haven't heard much of Quo but I'll agree with the list, and add Free, Lizzy and Humble Pie.

yeah but led zep already rightfully owns this title... still, ACDC would be (imo) the greatest TRUE and RAW rock band ever! this live performance proves it... what a show! and what display of testosterone! so great
@@peterbetts858a few of those are debatable on “band” first of all. Zeppelin is better and I think most would agree. Black Sabbath vs AC/DC is close but I think that comes down to personal preference. Sabbath a little deeper and AC/DC a little more pure rock. I wouldn’t knock anyone picking The Who over AC/DC but I think AC/DC has the edge
To put this performance in perspective, the Sex Pistols' "Bollocks" album was released the following day. These guys arrived back in London with a chip on their shoulders and with a point to make. Mission accomplished.
Genuinely cannot see this pompous old crowd being mildly interested in the "Sex Pistols"....
This is about as good as it gets, my friends!
Wow! Great sound quality. AC/DC is so much better with Bon! RIP!
You know that’s right
YUP, RAW, RAW. POWERR LET THERE BE...........
Like when we saw them open for Aerosmith. 🔥
Live I think so however brian was better through and through in every aspect and bon is fairly overrated since he died.
Bon Scott was AC/DC 😅
It always amazed me how AC/DC sounded like they were in the studio even when they played live.
Why did it amaze you?
@@Michael-no6jw Because there aren't very many bands that can pull it off. AC/DC sounded like they made very few mistakes live. Even when Angus would play a different solo, it was great enough that it actually sounded like a different studio take. There were many sloppy bands live back in the 70's. Most notably.... Zeppelin. Don't get me wrong, I think live Zeppelin were great. I think AC/DC had a great sound system as well. The mixer did a fantastic job with the soundboard. Practice makes perfect.
@@richardheinz I agree.I saw Zeppelin at Madison square Garden in I believe 1973 and I didn't care for it.a lot of the songs I couldn't tell what song it was until Plant's Lyrics kicked it.everything was way off.
@@Michael-no6jw That's funny. Another reason why I think made AC/DC's live performances almost studio quality is Bon's voice always sounded strong. Many singers' voices tend to get tired and weak as the show goes on. I've heard singers today who's voices sound winded and they sound like they just finished jogging before grabbing the mic.
@@richardheinz Indeed.. he's sounds amazing and I suppose those fat ACDC riffs are just naturally satisfying and full sounding. I think their energy plays into it as well, and they all show up when they play.

The dude rocking with Angus at 30:58 is a harbinger of crowds to come for AC/DC.
Angus is a guitar maniac. How he played all those notes the way he moved around still baffles me. Simply an amazing talent. Long live rock and Angus.

It's scary how great AC/DC was here. Already had brilliant timeless rock anthems and hadn't even put out Highway To Hell and Back In Black. Angus lives his art. What you see is what he is. And Bon Scott and the band are just on fire here. No wonder they became one of the biggest most successful rock bands in history.

Me too.
Angus is basically immortal as a mascot(and may be LITERALLY immortal). He was such a talented lead guitarist at such a young age(pun intended?) But he is so much more than technical proficiency. So much of his playing is texture; he has such a dirty, gritty, MEAN/cocky sound to his playing. And he has a humongous personality; who, then or now, has thought of getting on the edge balcony to shred??? He has been a great inspiration to me.
I love that description!
Listen to Dweezil Zappa on Beyond the Thunder podcast talking about Angus, especially the part about the solo on Squealer (underrated). Real eye opener.

He said he was the best drummer in rock and I agree with you both
I didn't realize that they had such good wireless in 1977...Angus has no guitar cable...he must have the transmitter in his knapsack. p.s. @@primtonesI love AC/DC, but they couldn’t stand a chance against a lot of punk bands in terms of heaviness. They’re nothing more than radio friendly boomer rock. They couldn’t hold Iggy and The Stooges’ jock strap. If anything, punk was an antidote to stadium rock. Punk got down and dirty and immersed itself in the grime.
Incredible footage from the pioneering era of one of the greatest rock and roll bands in the world. Just imagine being in the audience when a band you have never heard of comes out and plays this set. I mean these are still some of the greatest rock songs ever written 45 years on! Just unbelievable really that such an obscure band at that time could deliver classic song after song like this. Absolutely killer set and performance. But it is very strange to hear Whole Lotta Rosie without a single “Angus, Angus, Angus” from the crowd!
They were obscure as you said.
Angus, Angus, Angus came much later
Especially at that time. A kick in the balls.
Tell you what, back in 1972 i watched a band called Mott the Hoople in Chatham in England. The first band was Queen. I and most of the others had never heard of then. What a brilliant surprise that was. There to watch Mott and Queen turn up. Havent forgotten that evening, and never will

The Golders Green Hippodrome at that time was a BBC studio, not a proper concert venue; this was a gig set up for the TV cameras, not the fans. You can hear from the cheers that the crowd was small and was likely crew plus journalists and invited guests only.
Also, AC/DC at that time was not an obscure band that people had never heard of. They'd headlined the legendary Hammersmith Odeon only two days prior to this and had also headlined it nearly a year earlier. They were a well-known band about three-quarters of their way through a world tour of some 15 countries. They just were not yet the globally dominating band they would become a couple of years after this gig.
Bon Scott had a lot of blues in his voice. Love it.
Before AC/DC he played recorder in a hippy folk group called Fraternity.
@LeonFelixRusso he found his niche, because fraternity were shit I'm afraid to say

@@speeddemon9555 One thing I loved about Queen was live versions being different. As Freddie Mercury said, you may as well put cardboard cut-outs onstage and play the albums.
Hell yeah bro! 🤘
@@speeddemon9555 That is 100% the best. Those who do not "stray" usually play from "can" (lipsing). Only if the band "strays" you know you hear live. Unfortunately, according to one of my concert sound engineer pals, 99% of the bands play from master tapes and they don't bother to actually perform. That's how you never hear them catch cold, being overdosed on drugs, being tired, or just "not their day". And they all jump around like monkeys.... Real musicians cannot dance and play/sing at the same time. Record labels care to give circus performance to the clueless audience. Not real music. So they make you act like Angus (if you like the money, or else...). Or Madonna, or take your pick. Led Zeppelin are holy monsters. They set their own rules (plus they have their own label- that helps 😁...).
Try to find some interviews Frank Zappa gave many years ago. He spits many awful truths about the music industry that nobody wants to hear.....
Saw Angus for the first time in 1976 when I was 28, I am now 74 and play him very single day since then - we will never meet, but I will be in awe of him until - the end - he is such a humble genuine genius !

I actually saw this show live in the theatre I was working in in 1977 I believe it was their first American tour. Their were a couple other bands on the bill. I do not remember exactly who they were but ACDC headlined this show. Angus asked my boss if there was any way to get up behind one of the statues in the theatre and he looked him and said yea, I'll put a fuckin ladder up their for ya buddy. lol Angus laughed. He was serious though. I showed him and blocked the doors so he could sneak into the balcony. He did go up there and run all over the balcony. Great days, I still work in that theatre.

I´ve got a life long fascination with great live performances, be it in the concert hall itself or just taped from 20,30 40,50,60 years ago... "Rocker" is one of the best I´ve seen so far. Angus freakin´ Young!
Talvez a dupla mais incrível da música, angus, e bon Scott. Um não ofuscava outro. Pura energia.
only ACDC can be the biggest band in rock and roll history , but somehow each member is still underrated. there's some serious talent in that lineup.
Brings back great memories. Makes this 70 year old man not feel quite so old. Awesome job on this video. Peace, happiness and good health to all.
Yes, we were born at the right time. The '60s, '70s, and '80s. I'd do it all again but I would have got into computers a lot earlier than I did.
Over 45 years ago, listening to this - it feels like yesterday!
Великая австралийская группа! Невероятная энергетика, заводной рок, полные приколы на сцене... Очень уважаю и люблю! Большое спасибо!
Words fail me. I can barely express how much happiness this brought. I cried throughout. I rock n rolled throughout. Bless you for putting this on UA-cam. And bless ACDC who had their art dialled in from the very beginning. Astonishing.

Thank you
Can't believe how good this band sounded back then. No wonder I love them
Real raw rocknroll band and singing, no computer mix in back ups or lip-syncing, excellent superb pure performance by one of the greatest hard rock bands of all time.
You are so right! They are all superb in this band. Today there are so many things fake - like autotune on the fly, drum triggers / replacers, metronom or sound from computer etc even live. You could make a Record out of this raw and honest conzert here, and it would be still more powerful and better played and sung, than many studiorecordings from other bands. This has real rock n roll soul!!
The only thing about this show that I don't understand is why all the new bands in the 2020s aren't influenced up to the eyeballs to do something similar...unless they can't. Maybe I answered my own question.
Yes !!
Too bad Angus is not plugged in.
@@jonyboots. he always plays wireless because of al the running around. I believe it is in his backback this show
Edit: it’s not in the backpack, but they had small wireless systems back then. It could be a Cetec or Schaffer Vega
