I watched this video for the first time 2 years ago, and said that "I loved the fact that you didn't miss the little fill at 0:54". Well I saw dredg live for the first time yesterday (yay), and it was awesome. But even Dino didn't play that fill and that reminded me of this video. So I thought I would come back and pay my respects one more time. Kudos!
It's moments like these that you stand in awe.....I could only imagine being able to be THIS lucky as you were....I am well aware that Dino is a standup d00d..That goes for dredg as a whole....have had the privilege of meeting Dino's acquaintance post-show and give him kudos...It further exemplifies his character going up there and filling in for the piano role of this tune..... for as I sit and beat down on my own kit to harness that skill...I bow down to the Great Dino!!!... ;) Nice work!!!
I love finding amazing moments like this on you tube. Great job stepping in to those rather fucking enormous big shoes. Dredg rules. Thanks for sharing this!
@everyone: Gavin just asked if there was anyone in the audience that could play drums, and we were close enough to the front to push Evan forward! It was epic! ♥ you bro! :)
@rockxwl Machine head did the same thing letting a guy play Rob Flynn part on the guitar for whole song and the guy did a great job too, i think that's like dream come true thing to play with your favourite or one of your favourites band :)
"It's a Cinderella story ..here at Augusta ..a virtual unknown coming out of nowhere to win the masters." How cool was that, thats like every musicians dream! ..something out of the movie "Rockstar" If this turns out to be your only 15 mins. of fame in your life ..well done.
That's awesome man! Was this completely out of the blue or was there some sort of arrangement made with the band before their set? That's really ballsy of the band if they pull a random fan on-stage - I imagine they'd get the occasional person that can't actually play. You did a great job!
Completely spontaneous. Been ten years now, but yeah...Dredg played two nights at the same venue, so it was largely the same crowd on night 2 as on night 1, giving it a more intimate vibe the second night. Dino came up to the mic and asked if anyone wanted to give the next song a go on drums. He said to me, "It's Bug Eyes, do you know it?" to which I replied, "I've heard it enough." I hadn't played drums in almost a year prior to this, and Dino's sticks are 5B's (huge and heavy), and his cymbals are a pretty far reach away. I had blisters on my hands for over a week after this one song, but I've still got the sticks on my wall.
