My father went there when he was around 20 and now he is 65. They walked all the way from jispa to phugtal gompa. You literally made him relive those memories and yes when you were saying that the roads are in terrible condition it made him a little pissed 😅. He was like "are humare time m jate to lagna tha ptta sadak to tha hi nhi". 😂 You guys are just amazing. ✨
I just watched another film where three British women trekked right from manali to zanskar over rohtang pass and shinkula pass and back to manali in 1958.

5 of us from Australia visited Phuktal Gompa while trekking from Kulu-Manali to Lamayuru in May 1981. No road access back then. Wonderful hospitality from the monastery. Indeed the most stunning setting. The access across the river then was a suspension bridge made of woven osier roots. It was the trip of a lifetime.
As always beautifully captured. Thank you Ronnie and Barty for sharing this beautiful off-beat place, really loved it. In fact, I love visiting offbeat places. That hike was really worth it. Someone indeed said it right "difficult paths lead to beautiful places".
I myself am from Ladakh and visited Zanskar last year and went to phugtal and it was unbelievable to see that a place like this really exist and you captured every moment so beautifully and my reaction was same as you when I saw the monestary

Love your video. When I was there (not to long ago.), there was no road up to Purne. Good for the villages that they have a road now. But experience wise, driving up there takes away the enjoyment of the isolation. At least the last part is still on foot. The road looks much worse now than it was. Thanks.
