I disagree. The new hybrids and EVs all make this weird "Ahhhhhh" noise that alerts you they are there, but there's nothing "car-like" or appealing about it. You NEED some sound at LEAST when backing up. "Beep...beep...beep" should only be for fat people and trucks. At least the V8 sound when backing up would make sense.
The fun/joke/hacking will be endless on this though. People will figure out how to make it sound like a slant six, a Neon, a minivan, an air-cooled Beetle, a Trabant, and a Cummins. The variations will be never-ending.

Not sure why this is an issue. This is how it's been all along. In the 60's, you had different hp for the same ci engine, based on how much you wanted to spend. The Chevy 327, 350 and, 396, for example, each had three different levels of power. The differences were mechanical, rather than digitally-determined, but they were still weaker or more powerful versions of the same engine.

Sure, a HEMI V8 is a fantastic sounding engine. And I love the 69 Charger, because it is my childhood hero (Dukes of Hazzard - Ein Duke kommt selten allein in Germany).
But this thing is damn great! And is an interpretation of a future Charger.
And the HEMI is a gas guzzler and needs tons of fuel. The new one has power! A lot of power. More than you need, like a classical muscle car.
For me, and I think there will be also others, who live in countries where taxas for ICE engines are high and fuel prices also, this could be a no brainer.
And you are also more autarc. In a war situation, the enemy would go on the infrastructre. But with decentral solar power in your roof, or other buildings.
You could still drive a cool car and teavel to a save spot, even if no gas would be available.

Wow, a lot of hate for the new Charger on here. As the owner of 3 V8 powered vehicles (including a Hemi) and an EV6 GT I'll play devil's advocate. I like the design, I like the performance, I like the space and the practicality of the hatch back. I also give huge kudos to the design and material upgrades to the interior. I even think 250 miles of range is fine for anyone who has a home charger (that's what my EV6 GT manages and it works for my family). Stellantis is a global company and I think we all need to realize the pressure these automakers are under to adapt to new regulations. The fact that there is a gas version coming I think is a smart play. What I won't argue though is the price. Who can afford these cars?! I was at the dealer yesterday getting an oil change on my Ram done and the new 2025 version of my truck was sitting on the lot with a sticker price of $108,000 CAD!! I'm assuming this electric Scat Pack Charger will be $100,000 CAD vehicle. Crazy!

I think the hate comes from people not liking/wanting/understanding an EV. Plus, I adore coupes so it's very nice to see one for sale. That all said there are two big negatives. The price obviously, which is across the board for all new Evs (which is why I saved 25k buying used). Also that size is waaay too long. I think the Ev6 at about 184 inches is long imo, but to make this coupe even longer is crazy.

@@floydcooley1 I like this vibe shown here and your EV6 analogy to this car. I will add the 100KWh battery pack takes up size, I am a Lyriq owner and the KW output needed to achieve 600+ HP pretty much dictates the battery size here. Releasing a car with a sub-200 mile range is unthinkable in this market. Stellantis is very late to the market on this, the price is a problem even the RT starting at $62k (US) is too high to enter this market with. The EV hate is brutal from people not liking/wanting/understanding that this is just a car. Stellantis marketing should have understood that the performance should speak for itself, the fake noise is a distraction.

Agree entirely. The car is nice enough but way overpriced. You'd either have to be raking in seriously big bucks or be utterly incompetent with money to buy one.

Most of the negative comments are from losers living in grandma's basement with free cable and internet and driving her old Buick.

Looks great, sounds good, but 82k for 240 miles of range! They really should have started with the ICE version. It'll be interesting to see if this sells.

As the owner of 3 Challengers since 2009 - 2009 SRT, 2012 SRT and currently 2016 SRT Hellcat - this car has no appeal to me. I guess that I'll be keeping my 2016....
this is a swing and a miss for me.

This could’ve been a hybrid and avoided all the hate. Imagine the noise this would make switching from electric to it gas engine like a Le Mans car…

Nope. We'd still hate it. Less...but We'd hate it. I'd gladly pay the epa fines to keep a hemi. They didn't bother to poll their buyers

looks great, but they could've avoided all the negative press if they released it first with ICE -hybrid options, and then came out with BEV later.

Ugly as hell and electric! I'll keep my 2023 Challenger! I can fill up in less than 5 minutes and be on my way. The "new" gas motors have a ton of issues...... good luck with them! 😆 The previous gen was retro looking on the outside and inside as well.

Be honest, the last one was based on the 1997 W210 platform. It wasn’t retro, it was just old.

Ugly as hell is overreacting but also personal opinion so that's debatable. Although people seem to love the style just off this video alone. I think if you HAD to change the style from the previous chargers this looks great. Just wayy to heavy and current battery tech cannot help them in that department.
