If the 705 did not have that resonance in the upper mid/lower treble, it would've been perfect. Put of the box. But it can be solved with equalization. The Elacs are more neutral, sounding muffled, but just when they're compared to something extreme, like the B&W. Otherwise, the Velas sound pretty good, in isolation, and truer to the source material. For their price, the little Germans are holding their flag high. Really impressive.
well...those B&W705s sound waaaay to bright... lacking in the mids... i definitely prefer the Elacs. more full sounding. thanks for posting!
The 705 S3 are more bright yes, but you're missing the whole enveloping 3D sound these give, all of the rest of the information is lost and it just sounds sibilant through the mic, this is not the same as in real life.

I wonder how much changed with Elac's "Jet 6" tweeter built in (Vela 40X.2) - if anything.
So subjective ..The B&W’s sounded a bit ‘etched’ to me, at first. OR you could just be sitting closer to the cymbals and the club/venue has more carpet. The Elacs seemed a bit more realistic to me at first, OR the club has a wooden stage or wooden floor and you’re sitting closer to the vocalist. If I was a bit deaf or my room had a lot of soft furnishings, I might prefer the B&W’s. Or it’s like lighting? The B&W’s, the club lights are a bit cooler and you’re drinking white wine. The Elacs, the club has warmer lights. Maybe you’re drinking Bourbon? Same artist, same music, same venue, just the lighting, drinks and furnishings are different. Hmmmf, I should be an audio reviewer.
저역밀도는 엘락, 중고역 해상도는 B&W가 좋은 것 같네요...

You can hear the clarity and more airy details on the B&W from this compressed recording. Rotel's are not a good match for B&W. Rotel is a bright amp.

The Elacs sound more natural and less articulate bright.
It's silly to compare them. B&W is an order of magnitude better at everything.

I tweeter delle B&W sono inconfondibili..e megliore anche il resto della gamma media delle b&w..elac ? casse care e sopravvalutate da sempre..ps:sono un batterista e le elac suonano riproducono la batteria c9ne quando si usano le sordine per allenarsi e non fare troppo casino..rumore..il vero suono della batteria bello tosto vero e quella delle B& W
