”Move's audio input is for line-level signal from an audio device or smart-phone via analog cable, not for microphone or Hi-Z instrument input. To connect a microphone or guitar pickup to Move, using an external pre-amp with line-level output is recommended.” -from Ableton faq
I never had a push but I got the move with my MPC running into it, and it’s running out of my SP404. In a week, it’s become my go-to for beats. Love it…so fun. Workflow is fun for me, and it sounds great. Advice take your time and upload all ton of samples into it. And watch in depth tutorials and learn the thing inside out
Thanks for this! I've been waiting for more overviews of Move as a controller for Live and this is the best one so far. Does it really not have the ability to load sounds or plug-ins onto tracks using the hardware? Hoping for more videos like this!
Thanks bro. You did a good job demonstrating how to actually use Move as a Live controller. Seems like it becomes cumbersome after reaching more than 5 tracks or so? Push 2 or 3 are still big and heavy to be portable but Launchpad Pro is about as portable as Move. Would you make a content on how you deal with 3rd party VSTs on Push 2 or 3? How is your workflow using Native Instruments sounds on the Push 2 / 3 for example.
Hey, I appreciate you watching! I really don't deal with 3rd party plugins with Push at all. I just use it for some basic functions for recording parts into Live. All work with 3rd party plugins is done with the mouse and the Kontrol MK3 keyboard when it comes to NI sounds. So there really isn't enough material for a whole video on the topic 😁
If we're talking the controller part only, and ignoring the keyboard on the Launchkey, I prefer Move. It feels more like a drum machine/groovebox and paired with a keyboard is all I need for making music with Live.
I like your music and videos, but I think the Moves sounds like absolute 💩.. I am happy that I returned it. Just sharing for those that might have a hunch that it's not all that.
Hey, glad that you're enjoying the music and the vids! Of course, it's all subjective and I appreciate that you are sharing your point of view in a respectful manner.
its not intended as a controller. its intended use is a stand alone groove box / quick idea cooker on the go. You can quickly cook up ideas, sample using the built in mic or line input, automate, sequence, arrange, even mix to a degree, and then dump that session directly to ableton desktop, where everything loads up exactly as you had it on Move. It just so happens that move can ALSO work as a controller, albeit somewhat limited. You can still get some great use out of it, but its definitely no push
@shinyisshiny7780 The MPC LIVE II is a stand-alone that's a true on go with an intuitive, functional, large touchscreen. This device is half baked at its best and a slap in the face to modern music production capabilities. Ableton is destroying itself. I gave this video a thumbs up simply because I have pity on the content creator for having to pretend this device has a purpose in today's music standards.
@@samgoldsberry3029 troll. The mpc live is three times the cost of move, and has a fraction of storage capacity. Pathetic. It’s also no where near as immediate as the move. The move is meant for quick ideas, that can easily open in ableton. Mpc live is clunky , and unreliable. spending too much time menú diving on the screen. It’s sad actually. File management is a mess, the touch screen is moody as hell, super unresponsive, etc etc. not everyone wants a screen when creating in stand alone. That’s part of the joy of move , if I want a screen, I’ll work on my laptop or desktop, which have screens that are much larger than the mpcs.
@@444levels9 you must have not read the rest of what I said, MPC is three times the cost of move, and is not meant to be the same thing. The two are not even comparable really. Two completely different workflows, features, pricing and target audience. Sure, you can easily chop samples on the mpc (by using a clunky / buggy at times interface) but you can also chop samples even more intuitively in ableton, which is where every move session ends up eventually. Again, two completely different workflows, feature sets, etc. move is meant for immediacy, you turn it on and by using the capture midi function, you can have a beat up and running in seconds. If you wanted to, you can even pre chop samples in ableton and dump to the move using the built in cloud. Sure it’s not using the onboard screen , but it’s easy, and takes almost no extra time. With moves large storage capacity, you can just pre chop away for a few hours and have 60 gigs of samples ready to go.

I love that this machine boots real quick and sounds HUGE!
Indeed!
Very nice explanation! And I love Contra in the background!
Thanks Brian, great to see you here! I've been following your work for many years.
So few reviews are out there right now on how the Move works as an Ableton controller. Thank you for this!
Hey, my pleasure and I appreciate you watching!

True!
Thank you for always being so helpful man we appreciate it.
My pleasure man, appreciate you watching!
I will have to try it out. Thanks.

Hey, thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! Yeah, I don’t think Live’s browser works on Move.
Great video. Any MOVE packs coming??
Thank you! Yeah, I plan to make one but it will take some time. But I appreciate that you ask, definitely motivates me to get it done sooner.
@LowHeatBeats thank you brother. The move is a dope machine. If it had some nicer instruments like keys, pads ,guitars, this ting would be absolute 🔥

Oh man! Finally some one has shown the controller capabilities of this mini PUSH😄 СПАСИБОООО, my Slavic bro! Great channel btw, подписка оформлена))
Haha thank you bro!
Besides keys vs pads? And keeping move in controller mode. Which controller for ableton do you like more. This or the new notation? Thanks!

So far I have found the Move less suited and intuitive to controlling Live, and I'm using it as a sketching device only
Fair enough, I guess that would depend how deep control you need over Live.
@@LowHeatBeats I already own a Push 2 and on the move I prefer to go standalone with either my MPC Live 2 or the Move.
are the pads MPE?
Nope.
probably gonna sell my apc40 :) although Move doesnt control sends for now...
If you pretend to convince me to sell my push2 to buy this you just dont know

@@shinyisshiny7780 lol, the sample editing features alone in the mpc are worth more than the entire Move capability... you must be joking.
