What a joke. By the time it took to plant 1 I could have planted 3. And how is this thing going to handle the rugged terrain of the forrest.?

+Jamie Smith And while you were sleeping it planted 1000 trees. (8 hours at 2/trees a minute).

Needs testing, and probably some more development too! Rome was not built in a day.

+Jamie Smith I don't even understand your complaints in the first place.
The fact that this machine exist already makes me glad.

+Morph Verse He means that manual tree-planting is significantly more effective than this robot will likely ever be. It would be arguably better to have the tree-planting process automated by machines but I suspect by the time we develop a machine that can outperform a human, it won't look anything like what's in this video. I'd recommend you show this video to anyone that has tree-planted for a summer or two - you'll get the same reaction as Jamie Smith's above. Those guys absolutely get my respect for developing a great machine but this is a laughably ineffective machine for it's intended purpose and furthermore represents a solution to a problem that doesn't exist - we already reforest 250 million trees in this province, (news.gov.bc.ca/factsheets/factsheet-reforestation-in-bc) which is where this machine is being developed.
